Chapter 44. Fu Han seems to be about to start work...

Fu Han seems to be moving his work location to the theater, and since he is an investor, the crew members don't want to kick him out.

"What's this stage play about?" Fu Han sat down next to Ji Qingyu, who was writing something with a pen in hand.

"It tells the story of two people who separated and never met again."

"You only film this kind of stuff? You like this kind of stuff?" Fu Han's voice lowered again.

“Yes,” Ji Qingyu said slowly, “I just like this kind of thing.”

Fu Han looked a little annoyed, his hand clenched slightly, then he forced a smile, "Fine, if you like it, then film it. Everyone says dramas are fake."

He was still talking when he turned around and saw that Ji Qingyu had already gotten up, took his newly bought goji berry cup, and gone to discuss the plot with the director.

Fu Han sat alone in place, and none of the actors around him paid any attention to him. Some were even looking at him and whispering, their eyes full of scrutiny and hostility.

Fu Han ignored all gazes and focused on his work.

After rehearsals were finally over, Yu Yue took Ji Qingyu out for dinner that evening.

Fu Han, who was originally going to pick up Ji Qingyu, kept a distance of no more than three steps from the two of them.

Ji Qingyu walked ahead, and he followed silently behind.

Ji Qingyu's glands have improved a lot in the past few days, probably because Fu Han occasionally releases pheromones due to emotional fluctuations.

"No, it's kind of scary. How long is he going to follow me like this?" Yu Yue whispered, holding Ji Qingyu's hand.

"I don't know." Ji Qingyu was quite calm. If she couldn't shake him off, she might as well stick with him; at least she could save money on a meal.

Perhaps seeing that Ji Qingyu did not show obvious resistance, Fu Han moved even closer.

"Let's go to the hospital after dinner. I've made an appointment with the doctor to get a proper check-up." He tugged at Ji Qingyu's sleeve.

"I can see a doctor myself, no need to trouble you." Ji Qingyu looked away and silently pulled Fu Han's hand away.

"I found this at my home in Beijing." Fu Han opened his palm, revealing the small pendant. "You've been wearing it for so long?"

His eyes were bright, staring intently at the omega, as if he were eagerly awaiting Ji Qingyu's affirmative answer.

Ji Qingyu looked at the blue star, which shone brightly under the night lights: "What is this? I've forgotten."

Fu Han was taken aback; Ji Qingyu and Yu Yue had already walked far away.

"What do you mean it's been so long? Did you two have something going on when you were young?" Yu Yue whispered gossipingly.

“Hmm,” Ji Qingyu said, “I’m the easiest one to coax among his many companions, so he gave me a pendant to amuse me.”

"Wow, what's wrong with him?" Yu Yue looked at Fu Han, who was standing there in a daze. "He's still behind us, and he looks stunned."

"Never mind him," Ji Qingyu said slowly. "Let's eat crab roe xiaolongbao here."

Fu Han didn't come in, probably because he didn't want to spoil the fun. He just bought a wrap outside and ate it while waiting for Ji Qingyu and Yu Yue to come out.

When Ji Qingyu came out, an Omega was asking for his contact information, but he waved his hand and refused.

Fu Han was smoking again, talking on the phone as he smoked. His trench coat was wrapped around his body, and his cold profile showed signs of fatigue and arrogance. He was still busy, and it seemed that there were still many things he hadn't finished dealing with.

Seeing Ji Qingyu come out, he gave her a few more instructions, hurriedly hung up the phone, put out his cigarette, and then ran over. He stood a short distance away, looking at her with almost ingratiating eyes, almost like a large dog.

“If you have something to do, then go ahead and do it. Don’t stay here all the time. It’s a burden for us to see you like this,” Ji Qingyu said quietly.

“Exactly, we were just having a nice meal, but you’ve ruined our meal.” Yu Yue was completely on Ji Qingyu’s side. After so many days, she could piece together the whole story from Ji Qingyu’s scattered posts on Weibo.

I initially thought this person was very handsome, but after hearing what happened, his handsomeness dropped several notches.

Yu Yue had a new date. She parted ways with Ji Qingyu at the intersection. Before leaving, she glared at Fu Han and said worriedly, "Contact me anytime if anything happens."

"Go quickly." Yu Yue's chatter made Ji Qingyu feel less lonely, and Fu Han's presence didn't seem so abrupt or oppressive.

No sooner had Yu Yue left than Fu Han's voice rang out again: "Let's go, the doctor is waiting. Your glands need regular checkups anyway, just for the sake of the baby."

Ji Qingyu sighed and nodded. He didn't want to argue about this matter anymore, so he got into the car with Fu Han.

"It's best if your body doesn't have this child. Your glands are already fragile, and you lack the soothing effect of pheromones, which will be bad for both the child's and your own emotions." After a check-up at the hospital, the doctor finally came to the conclusion, "If you don't take good care of yourself, your health will deteriorate even further in the future."

"I must give birth," Ji Qingyu said again.

"You young people, your health should be your top priority. Are you all risking your lives?" Before the doctor could finish speaking, Ji Qingyu had already stood up and left.

Fu Han tried to pull him again, but Ji Qingyu, annoyed, shook his hand off, realizing that this couldn't go on.

He thought for a moment, then pulled Fu Han to a table in the hospital where there were few people, and the two sat facing each other.

Fu Han smiled as he saw that Ji Qingyu was finally going to pay attention to him.

Ji Qingyu took a deep breath, pursed her lips, and finally spoke, her voice slow and gentle.

“Fu Han, you know that many things have an expiration date. Something might not spoil before its expiration date, but once it's over, there's no going back to how it was before. People have an expiration date too.” Ji Qingyu said this with a calm expression.

"Your hand has injured a tendon. Remember not to get it wet with cold water, or it will always hurt on rainy days. This pain won't kill you, but it will constantly remind you that you are different from others, and that the injured area will never be completely healed."

“If you’re wondering why I know so much,” Ji Qingyu pointed to her glands and then to her throat, “it’s because I have these scars in many places on my body.”

“I’m telling you all this not to make you pity me, or to ask for more compensation from you, but to tell you that our relationship has reached its expiration date.” Ji Qingyu felt a little thirsty, but he still wanted to say it all. He wanted to get it all out in one go, so that the chest tightness and flashback-like pain that kept popping up might be relieved a little. “Don’t lift heavy things, don’t be careless. The humidity in Jiangcheng is too high. For your own good, you should go back soon. If you don’t leave, I’ll have to move… I really like it here, and I really like my current job. You, you’re bothering me a little.”

Fu Han stared at Ji Qingyu without saying a word for a long time.

"The doctor just said that you need alpha pheromones during your pregnancy. Having me here is at least better for the baby." Fu Han's voice was low and hoarse, as if he knew he was using despicable methods.

"It's okay. I didn't need pheromones during the six years you marked me. They're not essential." Ji Qingyu said, then stood up and left.

Such hurtful words! Fu Han took two deep breaths before he could pretend he wasn't hurt and continued to wander around Ji Qingyu as if nothing had happened.

As they walked out of the hospital, Fu Han followed behind. He didn't dare get too close to Ji Qingyu, only two steps behind her. After a few steps, Ji Qingyu heard the alpha trying to make conversation again: "It's been so long since I've heard you sing. Could you sing me another song? On my birthday, my wish was to live a good life with you and to hear you sing."

“My voice has been hoarse for a long time, and I can’t sing well anymore.” Ji Qingyu held the medical records in his hand, looking at the scans. The gland damage was accompanied by nerve pain; he hadn’t expected to encounter such a problem. He put the photos away. “Besides, not everyone’s birthday wishes come true.”

Fu Han was taken aback. Ji Qingyu had already hailed a taxi. He suddenly felt that there was an invisible wall between him and Ji Qingyu that he could not shake. It seemed that Ji Qingyu had made up her mind to keep him out.

"When do you plan to go back?" Ji Qingyu asked. "Ji Ran should only be detained for fifteen days, and the trial hasn't started yet. You must be very busy. Fu Yunbai, he must be very angry too."

“Fu Han, you don’t really love me that much, do you? You could go six years without seeing me because of one thing, and now you’re just repenting. Guilt will eventually run out.” Ji Qingyu sighed. He was wearing a thin, single-layered coat today, the fleece material making him look much younger. People kept turning around to look at him as he stood outside the hospital. “Then you can go back to your world and live the way you used to. What about me? What about the children? What will I do?”

“Those people back then were just putting on an act.” Fu Han panicked for a moment and went to grab Ji Qingyu, but Ji Qingyu pushed him away.

"Ji Qingyu, didn't you like me back then? I'll only like you from now on. Why don't we continue our relationship?"

"No," Ji Qingyu said, "I'm tired, you should go back too."

"Why are you so calm towards me? You can blame me or ask me to make it up to you, but why do you treat me like a stranger, even colder than a stranger? You weren't like this before. If I were hurt, you would be more heartbroken than I am," Fu Han said. "Actually, you haven't cared about me for a long time, have you?"

“I was eighteen back then, a fool. If I’m still a fool now, I’ll be fooled again,” Ji Qingyu said. “Back then, you only had to snap your fingers and I was so naive to think you were only good to me. Now, if you say a few nice words, am I supposed to forgive you? My mother is watching me from heaven. She’ll be sad to see how badly I treat myself. I don’t want her to worry.”

Ji Qingyu left, thinking that after saying so many heartless things, Fu Han should finally back down no matter what.

He was in a state of turmoil and wandered aimlessly around Jiangcheng until late at night before returning to his guesthouse.

The wind in Jiangcheng carried moisture, blowing damply on her face and lifting Ji Qingyu's hair.

The night was pitch black, with only a few streetlights still on. Ji Qingyu could vaguely see a person sitting on the ground at the door, with their head buried in their knees, seemingly asleep.

Ji Qingyu's emotions, which he had finally managed to calm down, surged up again. All that he had said was in vain. Why did he keep holding onto him? Ji Qingyu thought a lot and finally came to a conclusion. He walked over and patted Fu Han on the shoulder.

The other person groggily woke up, grabbed Ji Qingyu's calf. His hand was wide. Fu Han seemed to have been drinking again; his ears were a little red. He leaned against Ji Qingyu's leg, still somewhat dazed, and said, "You're back..."

Ji Qingyu sighed.

"Fu Han, are you feeling resentful? Do you still want to do it? If so, then come on, finish it, and leave." Ji Qingyu looked down at Fu Han. Fu Han couldn't see any emotion in her eyes; they were as cold as an ice field.

A decisive kill.

Fu Han was completely speechless. He was slapped in the face by those soft words and didn't react. He stood there frozen for a long time, and after sobering up a lot, he said blankly, "What did you say?"
