Chapter 45. Fu Han hesitated for a long time...
Fu Han hesitated for a long time before he seemed to understand what he meant. He fell silent, lowered his eyes, and his hands trembled slightly.
Ji Qingyu then noticed the box in his hand. Inside was a beautiful ring, not the star pendant this time. Actually, Ji Qingyu preferred the pendant; the diamond there had great clarity and seemed to have a genuine quality.
Fu Han's eyes were dark and gloomy.
He seemed a little out of it, but he held onto Ji Qingyu's hand tightly and wouldn't let go. He buried his face in Ji Qingyu's lower abdomen: "Anyway, you'll never forgive me, right?"
“You will leave me like your mother did, and never come back.” From this angle, Fu Han’s features were still sharp, but his eyes were unusually gentle, carrying emotions that Ji Qingyu could not understand.
Fu Han had been waiting there for who knows how long; his clothes were covered in dew. Ji Qingyu touched his forehead and found it was even hotter than her own had been a few days ago.
Fu Han let Ji Qingyu touch him, his hands still holding onto Ji Qingyu's legs tightly. Ji Qingyu's fingers probed Fu Han's forehead twice, and Fu Han bit them, leaving a mark. Ji Qingyu hissed, and Fu Han licked them twice in a flattering manner.
Ji Qingyu trembled as Fu Han licked him. He sighed. He couldn't just leave the person on the roadside. After hesitating for a long time, he finally used all his strength to carry the person inside and threw him onto the bed. Fu Han's hand was still holding his and wouldn't let go.
Ji Qingyu was exhausted and covered in sweat. He collapsed on the edge of the bed and watched Fu Han. Fu Han's brows were always slightly furrowed when he was asleep. His palms were wide and there was a faint light from the streetlights in the room.
He went to get a wet towel and found some fever reducers that could be taken even after drinking alcohol.
There was only one bed. Ji Qingyu glanced at the sofa, wiped the sweat from her brow, and, somewhat defiantly, wrapped herself in her clothes and lay down next to Fu Han.
He touched Ji Fuhan's nose and sighed, "Didn't you dislike me? Weren't you afraid I'd have your child? Didn't you say I was annoying? You know, I hold grudges. I remember everything you said."
Fu Han hugged Ji Qingyu's waist and snuggled closer to the omega.
He tossed and turned, unable to sleep, and finally decided to download Weibo back to his phone. Once inside, he slowly sorted through all the events that had happened during that time.
Countless comments from netizens flashed before his eyes like snowflakes. Suddenly, Fu Han's hand reached out and landed beside Ji Qingyu. He enveloped Ji Qingyu like a furnace, his presence palpable.
Ji Qingyu's gaze remained fixed on the screen.
The latest hashtag is marked with "explosive," indicating that something just happened tonight, and new real-time comments keep popping up:
"So only a portion of the copyright can be recovered, while the rest are difficult to determine due to insufficient evidence?"
"After so much time, I'm afraid we can't get it back."
"Didn't you see? Fu Han spent tens of millions to buy it."
"Tens of millions? To buy these few lousy songs? He must be crazy."
How much did it cost?
Ji Qingyu opened her eyes wide. Fu Han was still asleep. She hugged him tightly.
The pain was only less when Fu Han was around; his glands had probably betrayed him. The doctor said that pregnant omegas need alpha pheromones to soothe them, and perhaps this was even more true for him.
He hadn't recovered and was still shocked by the news he had just heard.
The moonlight streamed in, casting long shadows of the two figures against the night sky. Was Fu Han waiting at the door to tell him this news? What was he thinking while he waited? Why did he buy all these songs?
Ji Qingyu felt heartbroken after wasting so much money. It was just a few songs; even if you were rich, you shouldn't waste money like that.
The bed in Jiangcheng was even smaller than the second bedroom in Beijing. For someone as big as Fu Han, Ji Qingyu had to snuggle in his arms to avoid falling off. Ji Qingyu was sweating from Fu Han's embrace, her arms fidgeting uncomfortably, only to be held even tighter. Fu Han's hair fell beside Ji Qingyu's ear, tickling her slightly.
The Jiangnan region is different from the capital; it is warm but humid, and the sky outside the window is covered with a layer of green shadows.
It was still dark, and Ji Qingyu was very sleepy. Fu Han smelled wonderful. He drowsily grasped Fu Han's hand. His glands were sending positive signals; the pain had lessened, and he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
She slept very soundly, and when she woke up, the space behind her was empty. Ji Qingyu got up somewhat dazed, and smelled the wonderful aroma of food.
Ma Yu also knocked on the door. It seemed he had finalized the land purchase agreement. He froze upon entering and seeing Fu Han, his gaze immediately darkening like a mother hen protecting her chicks. He mustered his courage and shouted:
What are you doing here?
Fu Han was cooking noodles in the kitchen. He turned his head to look at Ma Yu with a contemptuous and malicious expression, revealing a provocative smile. He was wearing an apron, which made him look quite comical.
"You should leave now. You're not welcome here. Neither I nor Xiaoyu welcome you!" Ma Yu, carrying freshly picked fruit—bright red persimmons—slowly and warily walked in, separating Fu Han from the bedroom.
"Who are you?" Fu Han ignored Ma Yu, put the noodles into a bowl, added chopped green onions, and prepared to carry it into the bedroom. His gaze was always very imposing when he lowered his eyes. Ma Yu froze on the spot, and before he could react, Fu Han had already brushed past him.
He opened the bedroom door a crack, seemingly to let Ma Yu see the situation inside. There was only a bed with a rumpled blanket, and Fu Han was wearing clothes that appeared to be Ji Qingyu's.
"What?! What's going on?!" Ma Yu rushed in and blocked Ji Qingyu's bedside. "What have you done now? Are you even human?"
"If I'm not human, then what about you, this opportunist?" Fu Han remained composed, like a lion displaying its territory.
"Don't be so filthy and think everyone else is vulgar. If Xiaoyu hadn't been so fed up with you, would I have taken him away? Go back to where you came from. What does your wealth and power have to do with us? You're shameless... shameless thing. Where were you before?" Ma Yu actually dared to say these things in front of Fu Han, and Ji Qingyu silently applauded him.
There was a sound of something breaking; Fu Han had smashed a ceramic jar next to him.
Ma Yu fell silent. To be honest, Ji Qingyu was already very impressed by his courage in saying such things in front of Fu Han.
"Stop arguing..." Ji Qingyu interrupted in a very weak voice. She didn't know if the landlord's ceramic jar was a decoration or an antique, and he might have to pay for it.
The two quieted down, and Ma Yu poked her head in: "Xiao Yu, are you alright?"
"Hmm..." It wouldn't be good to keep arguing like this.
His stomach rumbled twice, growling with hunger, and his ears were also restless as he listened to the two bickering. If he weren't so weak, he would have loved to just leave and get as far away from them as possible.
Fu Han pushed Ma Yu out of the bedroom and locked the door. Ma Yu started cursing again outside the door until Ji Qingyu couldn't stand the noise anymore and ordered them to shut up, only then did he get a moment of peace.
The noodles were delicious. Ji Qingyu finished a bowl, and Fu Han gave him the rest. Then he added some osmanthus sauce to the noodles.
"What time is this...?"
"I made this these past few days; you used to love eating it in high school."
Ji Qingyu looked at Fu Han's hand. He had never cared much about his body, and he stopped wearing bandages after only a few days.
The bruises still looked shocking. Ji Qingyu's gaze lingered for two seconds before she silently looked away.
“Your glands are too fragile. To have a child is practically playing with your life,” Fu Han said.
"It's not your child," Ji Qingyu retorted stubbornly.
Fu Han laughed: "In those days, at that frequency, it would be strange if you could go out and find someone else."
“Yes, I made you feel good, that’s why you wanted to come back to me,” Ji Qingyu said.
Fu Han was momentarily speechless. He wanted to say "I'm not," but found that he couldn't refute it.
He wanted to argue a bit more, but Ji Qingyu was too exhausted. Ma Yu was still outside. Ji Qingyu felt extremely sleepy. Just as he was about to get up, an intermittent nerve pain suddenly struck the back of his neck. The pain returned, and he lost his grip on the bowl, which fell to the ground first.
Both of them were stunned. Ji Qingyu's pheromones became stronger than ever before, but at the same time, she also experienced an unprecedented sharp pain in the back of her neck.
He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, everything suddenly went black, and his body fell uncontrollably downwards.
Fu Han reacted quickly and rushed over to catch him.
"Ji Qingyu? Ji Qingyu!" Fu Han's panicked voice called out beside him.
He could only see the ceiling gradually darken, and Ma Yu rushed in from the cubicle. He fainted and knew nothing more.
I woke up again in the hospital.
A pungent smell of disinfectant woke Ji Qingyu from the noise of the two arguing. The door wasn't closed properly, only partially obscuring the view. Fu Han's back remained upright and arrogant, blocking the doorway. Most of the noise came from Ma Yu, who was unilaterally arguing with Fu Han.
Ji Qingyu noticed that she was still holding something in her hand, so she simply took it off. As soon as she did, the electrocardiogram machine next to her started to sound an alarm. Anyone who didn't know better would think that something had happened. The next second, the arguing stopped, and the door was suddenly kicked open with a piercing buzzing sound.
Ji Qingyu caught the panic in Fu Han's eyes, pretended not to see it, turned her back and pulled up the blanket, burying her head in it like an ostrich.
"Xiaoyu, Xiaoyu, are you alright? Did he do something to you? Why did you faint so suddenly?" Ma Yu rushed in, pushed Fu Han aside, and held Ji Qingyu's hand.
Veins bulged on Fu Han's forehead as he stood restrainedly to the side, though Ji Qingyu felt that what Fu Han really wanted was to kick Ma Yu out.
Ji Qingyu was so shaken by him that she could only repeatedly say that she was fine, otherwise something might happen. Then she looked behind her and saw Fu Han frowning, wanting to come closer but not daring to get too close.
"What's wrong with me?" Ji Qingyu asked.
While wailing, Ma Yu said, "The doctor said your glands can't handle it, let's not have this baby, okay? Your health is more important than the baby."
“Your glands are damaged. For those six years, you didn’t have any alpha pheromones. Repeated heat cycles damaged your glands a lot. Later, I had you have surgery. If you want to have a child… it might not be able to hold on.” As Fu Han said this, Ma Yu jumped up angrily and punched Fu Han in the face, making him stagger back several steps. Fu Han turned his head away, not daring to look at Ji Qingyu.
"I'm sorry, I will do my best to find a cure. I don't know, I..." Fu Han's face was swollen, and his lip was cut open, with blood flowing down.
"All you can do is stay away from him. Can you please stop pestering me? Get out of here!" Ma Yu roared.
Fu Han gave Ma Yu a dangerous look, then turned to face Ji Qingyu with a pitiful expression. He hugged Ji Qingyu tightly. "You need my pheromones to soothe you. I'll have the doctor come regularly. If you don't want to see me, I'll just come with the doctor. The medical facilities here are limited. For your health and for the baby's sake, let's go back to Jiangcheng after you finish your work, okay?"
As he spoke, his fangs pressed against Ji Qingyu's neck. A heat rose up her body.
Ji Qingyu heard him muttering something in her ear, and it took her a long time to understand what he was saying: "Don't send me away, I'm begging you, let me do something for you, brother."
