The hunters rushed out from their hiding place, expecting to plunder some "treasures," but they froze when they saw Chu Wanwan and the imposing group of survivors behind her. Their weapons instinctively went behind their backs, and fear and unease filled their eyes.
Chu Wanwan looked coldly at the hunters, her eyes seemingly able to see through all pretense and lies.
"Trying to rob us?" Chu Wanwan's voice was cold and authoritative, causing the hunters to shiver involuntarily.
"No! No, we're out of supplies at our base. We just came out to look for them," one of the hunters, who seemed to be the leader, replied cautiously.
"Are there any other people in the base?" Chu Wanwan asked with a half-smile.
"Huh? What do you want to do? Don't rob us! We have old people and young children at home, and we're really running out of supplies, so we had no choice but to come out and look for supplies!" The leader of the hunters looked at Chu Wanwan nervously, afraid that she would do something harmful.
Chu Wanwan chuckled and said, "Don't worry, we're not here to rob your supplies. Since your base is short of supplies, why not consider joining us? Our base has enough food and safe shelter, and we can work together to defend against the threat of alien beasts."
The hunters exchanged bewildered glances, clearly not expecting Chu Wanwan to make such a suggestion. A flicker of hesitation crossed the leader's eyes, but thinking of the hungry old people and children at the base, he gritted his teeth and said, "We're willing to join you, but can you guarantee that the people at our base won't be discriminated against or bullied? You can't drive away the vulnerable groups from our base."
Most bases now only take in young and able-bodied people because they can go out to find supplies. The elderly and weak are usually seen as a burden and no base is willing to take them in.
