Chapter 392 The Illusion of Inner Demons

Chu Lan went directly to the battlefield where the two armies were fighting. Two teams, one in black and one in silver, were fighting fiercely on the battlefield.

She stood there, somewhat dazed, as her memories of the immortal realm rapidly faded from her mind.

Chu Lan tried to grasp those memories, only to find that they slipped through her fingers like quicksand.

Gradually, she forgot who she was and why she had come here...

Suddenly, a soldier from the Black Faction brandished a longsword and slashed at Chu Lan, who stared blankly. Just as the longsword was about to strike Chu Lan, a red-tasseled spear deflected it.

Chu Lan turned her head in surprise and saw a general in silver armor riding a snow-white warhorse, standing majestically beside her.

The general's gaze was stern as he shouted, "Little sister! What are you standing there for? Do you want to die? Don't think about anything else, quickly follow me and fight your way out!"

Chu Lan was startled awake by the word "little sister," and she remembered who she was.

She is the legitimate daughter of the General of the State and the owner behind the Misty Rain Pavilion.

On the surface, Yanyu Tower is a Jianghu organization that deals in selling information and assassinations, but in reality, it is a private organization that collects intelligence and raises funds for the Chu family army.

Apart from his father and brothers, no one knew that this organization belonged to Chu Lan.

The reason she came to the battlefield was because she discovered that there was a traitor within the Misty Rain Pavilion, and the intelligence she provided to the Chu family army was false.

This led to the Chu family army being ambushed by the enemy instead of setting up an ambush along this line.

A narrow mountain path, called "One Line Sky," is formed by two cliffs with only two horse-drawn carriages able to pass side by side.

The general standing before Chu Lan was none other than her elder brother, Chu Qianhan.

Chu Qianhan followed his father into battle from a young age, displaying bravery and fearlessness, and was a legendary figure in the army.

After Chu Lan reacted, he drew his reddish-brown whip and lashed it through the air in a sharp arc towards the approaching enemy soldiers.

Chu Qianhan brandished his spear, cooperating with Chu Lan, and in a short time, they carved a bloody path through the enemy ranks.

"Little sister, use this. A long whip could easily injure our own people here!" Chu Qianhan shouted. At the same time, he threw her a long sword that he had picked up from the ground.

Chu Lan took the blood-soaked longsword, her eyes instantly turning sharp. She brandished the sword, its blade gleaming coldly in the sunlight, each swing carrying a resolute air.

Chu Qianhan led the way, with Chu Lan close behind, the siblings working in perfect harmony. However, the enemy forces were numerous, and their advance remained difficult.

People kept falling around me—enemies in black armor and comrades in silver armor. Corpses piled up along the narrow path, and the stench of blood filled the air.

Chu Lan brandished his sword, relentlessly slashing at the enemies before him.

She didn't know how long she had been fighting, but her arms were incredibly sore, and every swing felt like she had used up all her strength.

Sweat blurred her vision, and blood stained her clothes, but her gaze remained resolute.

Suddenly, Chu Qianhan shouted, "Little sister, watch out behind you!"

Chu Lan turned around abruptly and saw an enemy soldier thrusting a spear at her.

At the critical moment, Chu Qianhan leaped forward and shielded Chu Lan, the spear piercing directly into Chu Qianhan's body. Although it didn't hit a vital spot, it still severely injured him.

There were too many enemy soldiers around, and Chu Qianhan, lying on the ground, became a sitting duck. In an instant, many swords and spears struck Chu Qianhan.

"Big brother!" Chu Lan roared, her eyes bloodshot, as she fiercely killed Chu Qianhan and the enemy soldiers around her.

At this moment, Chu Qianhan was covered in wounds and blood, lying in a pool of blood with his eyes closed, looking like a dead man.

Looking at Chu Qianhan like this, Chu Lan felt a surge of panic. Her eyes reddened as she frantically hacked at the surrounding enemy soldiers, her voice hoarse as she cried out, "I will make you all pay for my brother's death!"

Her figure darted through the enemy ranks, her sword flashing and striking, leaving a trail of blood and gore. Inspired by Chu Lan's grief and indignation, the soldiers of the Chu family army were greatly encouraged, each fighting bravely against the enemy.

"Protect the lady! Rescue the general!" The soldiers' shouts echoed across the battlefield.

Chu Lan was blinded by rage, completely disregarding his own safety, only wanting to avenge Chu Qianhan.

As time went on, she developed more and more wounds.

In fact, given Chu Lan's skills, she would have a good chance of escaping if she wanted to.

But she didn't run away; instead, she stayed by her older brother's side, waving her arms continuously.

She thought that dying on the battlefield would be a good thing, so that she would feel less guilty.

Just then, a sudden commotion broke out in the enemy's rear. It turned out that reinforcements from the Chu family army had arrived, surging into the battlefield like a tidal wave and instantly turning the tide of the battle.

The enemy retreated, leaving behind only corpses and tattered battle flags scattered across the battlefield.

Exhausted, Chu Lan collapsed beside Chu Qianhan, panting heavily, her eyes never leaving her brother's wounded body.

The Chu family army's reinforcements quickly launched a rescue operation, with soldiers carrying away the wounded and clearing the battlefield.

Chu Lan refused anyone's help and insisted on personally accompanying Chu Qianhan back to the camp.

The military doctors were busy, while Chu Lan paced anxiously to the side, her hands tightly gripping the hem of her clothes.

Time passed second by second, and every moment was torture for Chu Lan.

Finally, the military doctor came out of the tent, and Chu Lan hurriedly went to greet him, "Medical doctor, how is my elder brother?"

"Miss, the general is not in mortal danger, but because his leg injury is too severe, he may not be able to stand up again."

Upon hearing the army doctor's words, Chu Lan swayed, almost losing her balance. Suppressing her grief, she took a deep breath and said, "As long as my brother lives, nothing else matters."
