Chapter 8 On Postpartum Care of Sows

Lin Ruanruan is saying her final goodbye to her muse—the intelligent pig.

"Piggy, you need to take good care of yourself. Eat when you're hungry and sleep when you're tired."

"Hmph."

"I'm leaving, and this departure will last a lifetime."

"Hmph."

"You must eat your way to a fatso, you'll be the most delicious pig in the whole sty." Tears almost streamed down her face as Lin Ruanruan reluctantly said goodbye to the intelligent pig.

"Hmph."

Lin Ruanruan left gracefully, waving her sleeves without taking a single cloud with her.

Of course, she couldn't take Yun Cai with her, but she was stuffed with a bunch of local specialties. Lin Ruanruan sat in the middle of the pile of local specialties, struggling to move her bottom. Finally, she found a comfortable position, and her driver and bodyguard, Lao Wang, started the car as soon as he saw his young lady was settled.

The scenery outside the car window flashed by, and the lush green country lanes were gradually replaced by reinforced concrete and wide roads.

Grandparents' love is too heavy. Looking at this pile of local specialties, enough for the whole family to eat until the New Year, I feel a deep sense of loss.

Lin Ruanruan lowered her eyelids and fell into deep thought. All these local specialties must be exhausting for Uncle Wang, and the shipping fees must be expensive...

...

Lin Ruanruan got out of the car, carrying a large bag of local specialties, and stood in front of the Huo family mansion, somewhat hesitant.

The incident started like this: yesterday, after carrying local specialties home with Uncle Wang, Lin Ruanruan asked her mother if she could give some of the local specialties to her friends.

After all, Huo Xian had asked her to take pictures of delicious food for her before, but she forgot. Now, bringing her food directly should be fine, right?

Lin's mother happily agreed, and nodded with even greater satisfaction when she heard that her friend was Huo Xian. She had heard that the child was an exceptionally good one.

And so, this scene unfolded, with her hand hesitating in front of the doorbell. Although Huo Xian had been happy to see her today, it was her first time visiting a friend's house, and she had no experience.

"If you keep staring, the doorbell will grow flowers from all the staring." A gentle male voice suddenly rang out from behind.

No matter how beautiful the song was, it didn't stop Lin Ruanruan from being startled. She immediately turned her head, but because she was a bit tall, she could only see his chest. When she looked up, she saw Huo Qi looking at her with a smile on his face.

Huo Qi had just finished his morning run, and there was still a little sweat on his forehead. He looked very youthful and energetic. Lin Ruanruan was a little stunned; the eldest brother of the Huo family was really good-looking.

Seeing the little girl still staring blankly, Huo Qi couldn't help but chuckle and directly pinched the cheek he had wanted to pinch since their first meeting. Hmm, it felt even better than he had imagined.

Caught off guard by the sudden pinch on her cheek, Lin Ruanruan's eyes widened immediately, welling up with tears. "It hurts..."

Seeing that he had even made the person cry, Huo Qi panicked a little and quickly rubbed their face, "I'm sorry, it's just that you look too cute..."

"You can't pinch my cheeks!" Lin Ruanruan cried. This older brother was really scary; he pinched her cheeks the moment they met.

"Ahem." Huo Qi coughed twice, feigning ignorance of how to appease girls. He didn't know why he had impulsively pinched the girl's cheek; he inwardly cursed himself, realizing he'd never been so lacking in self-control before.

Seeing that Lin Ruanruan was carrying a lot of things, her hands were red from the strain, she said, "Let me carry them for you."

As he spoke, he snatched the local specialty from her hand, saying, "You're here to see Huo Xian, right? I'll take you inside."

Lin Ruanruan followed closely behind, whispering a thank you. Huo Qi, standing ahead, smiled and thought, "How can this little one be so cute, like a little white rabbit?"

"Did you bring all of these for Huo Xian? There's so much, she can't possibly finish it all, can she?" Huo Qi couldn't help but think of the video Lin Ruanruan sent to Huo Xian. Could she really be feeding Huo Xian like a piglet?

However, this was the first time he had ever seen someone deliver preserved eggs, sausages, and cured meat to their home. It was quite a thoughtful gesture.

When Huo Qi asked her, Lin Ruanruan felt a little embarrassed. She knew that she had brought a lot of things. "My grandparents gave me too much. Our family can't finish it all."

He twisted his hands behind his back and said, "I only have Huo Xian as a friend, so I took a little extra, but it's not much."

Huo Qi covered his mouth to hide the corners of his upturned lips. Did Little White Rabbit have some misunderstanding about Diudiu? Did she really think Huo Xian was a pig?

Throughout the journey, Lin Ruanruan answered whatever Huo Qi asked. Huo Qi genuinely thought the little white rabbit was too well-behaved; he had never seen anyone so obedient in his life.

As a descendant of the Huo family, he was surrounded by people with more cunning than sponges from a young age.

Seeing a little white rabbit with its expression written all over its face is incredibly rare.

He could tell that Lin Ruanruan was nervous when talking to him; she wouldn't speak unless he did. She was clearly socially awkward, so he wanted to tease her.

Lin Ruanruan felt like she'd almost run out of things to say that day. How could Huo's eldest brother have so much to say? He could chime in on any topic, making it impossible for her to stop.

When the two arrived at the main hall, they were already discussing the maximum number of piglets their sow could have in a single litter. Huo Qi placed the local specialties Lin Ruanruan had brought on the table and stopped the servants from helping.

"Go and call Huo Xian down first. These are all gifts for her." He said, personally pouring Lin Ruanruan a glass of water.

Lin Ruanruan sat on the sofa somewhat awkwardly, but when she saw that Huo Qi had given her water, she felt a little more relaxed.

This was all thanks to Huo Qi's constant attempts to make conversation and his deliberate display of friendliness, which made Lin Ruanruan, a socially awkward person, get used to him.

Huo Qi had figured out Lin Ruanruan's personality in a short while and knew she would get nervous when she was alone. So he didn't go upstairs to shower and tidy himself up, but sat with Lin Ruanruan on the sofa opposite him.
