Chapter 20

Chapter 20

That must be interest.

The next morning, before the weight loss training camp officially opened, Luo Jingyao showed up at the place she had agreed to meet with Lin Jiafan last night: outside the side door of the shopping mall, holding a box of milk.

At that time, Lin Jiafan was still wearing the ill-fitting dark blue work clothes, which made his arms and legs look long and slender, a bit awkward.

The man casually raised his hand after seeing her figure.

The two of them didn't exchange too many pleasantries, but instead hurriedly entered the side door of the mall one after the other. Luo Jingyao walked in front and turned into the same corridor as the night before with ease.

Because there are only a few inconspicuous air vents at the top of the wall, even though it is already bright outside, the lighting in the corridor is not much better. You still have to rely on the dim sensor light to barely see the details around you.

Two minutes later, the small door nestled next to the mall's warehouse finally appeared before their eyes.

Knock knock knock.

At Lin Jiafan's signal, Luo Jingyao swallowed her saliva, tensed her muscles and walked forward to knock on the door.

Soon, bursts of rustling sounds were heard in the room, followed by Zhao Weiqing's slightly sleepy, hoarse voice: "Who is it?"

"It's me, Coach Xiao Luo from Sister Jiang's training camp!" She cleared her throat and replied softly.

As soon as he finished speaking, there was no movement on the other side of the door. After a few seconds, there were sounds that looked like footsteps. Soon after, the door opened from the inside, revealing Zhao Weiqing's slightly dark face.

"It's Coach Luo, what's up so early?"

Luo Jingyao smiled sweetly and raised the carton of milk in her hand: "It's okay, I just came to see if you're feeling better."

At this point, she seemed to suddenly remember something and turned slightly to expose the man behind her to her sight. She began to explain, "I happened to run into Master Xiaolin on my way to you. He heard you were ill and wanted to come over to see you."

Zhao Weiqing hurriedly waved his hands when he heard this. "I should be the one thanking Coach Luo. Why would I let you come to see me?"

"We are all family, Brother Zhao, please don't be polite to me. Sister Jiang told me before that you have helped the training camp a lot!" As she said that, Luo Jingyao took two steps forward holding the box of milk.

Perhaps it was because he heard Jiang Qi's name, or because he felt embarrassed by her pushing him to the door, but Zhao Weiqing hesitated for a moment before finally extending his hand to invite the two into the house.

Maybe it was an illusion, but as soon as Luo Jingyao entered the room, she felt that the light here was even worse than that in the corridor outside.

The layout of this room is long and narrow. There is a tattered desk near the door, with some daily necessities piled on the desk in a mess. It is difficult to tell what is on it at a glance.

Next to the table was a single bed with an iron frame. The lower bunk was covered with a slightly messy quilt and pillow, while the upper bunk was filled with various sundries.

Opposite the iron bed there is an old refrigerator. Perhaps because it is too old, it makes a buzzing noise while running.

Ever since Luo Jingyao entered the room, her eyes have never left the old refrigerator.

So this is where she was that night?

Her eyes rolled around and she quickly made a plan in her mind.

While Lin Jiafan was still pretending to be concerned about Zhao Weiqing's health, Luo Jingyao quickly opened the carton of milk and, facing the two people's surprised gazes, spoke enthusiastically, "This brand has a short shelf life. Brother Zhao, I'll put it in the refrigerator for you first."

Zhao Weiqing had no time to refuse and could only watch her open the refrigerator door.

The intertwined aromas of various foods instantly rushed into Luo Jingyao's nostrils. In this intoxicating smell, she quickly observed every corner of the refrigerator.

Unfortunately, there were no exciting discoveries.

Not only were there no black plastic bags in this refrigerator, but even the internal structure was very different from the one she had seen.

Slowly putting all twelve cartons of milk into the refrigerator, Luo Jingyao lowered her eyes to hide the disappointment in her eyes.

"Oh! Thank you, Coach Luo. I'm sorry to have made a fool of myself." Zhao Weiqing couldn't stop him, and a look of embarrassment appeared on his face. "I've always lived alone, so I'm used to the mess."

But before he could finish this sentence, his face suddenly showed pain, and his left hand involuntarily touched his right arm.

After the muscles at the corners of his eyes twitched uncontrollably twice, Zhao Weiqing slowly moved to the desk under the gaze of the two people and picked up a half-eaten tablet from the table.

He casually picked up two pills and threw them into his mouth, then swallowed them with the water in the cup next to him.

"What medicine are you taking?" Lin Jiafan asked after being silent for a while.

"Just some ordinary painkillers." Zhao Weiqing answered with an unclear expression, and threw the empty aluminum foil plastic plate used to hold the medicine into the trash can beside the door.

After saying that, he picked up the phone that was placed beside his pillow, glanced at the message on the screen, then turned around, took down the work jacket hanging on the wall and started to put it on: "The manager said he needs something from me, and it's time for both of you to go back to work."

"You're feeling so bad, why don't you take a day off? What's more, you're on afternoon shift today. What does the manager want you for?" Lin Jiafan didn't seem to understand.

"With my current physical condition, I'm thankful to be able to keep this job. The manager knows my difficulties and is willing to let me work part-time as a night security guard. We should be grateful!" Zhao Weiqing shook his head and sighed, picked up the tool bag placed by the door and prepared to go out.

Luo Jingyao and Lin Jiafan exchanged glances and left the room one after another.

Just before stepping out of the door, Luo Jingyao bent down and swiftly took out the plastic bag from the trash can: "It's not good for your health to keep garbage there for too long."

In response, Zhao Weiqing just smiled gratefully.

Dodging the other person's hand that was reaching out to take the garbage bag after locking the door, Luo Jingyao urged him without losing her smile: "Brother Zhao, don't you still have to go to the mall manager? I have to go out to buy breakfast later, so it's convenient for me to take out the garbage."

Maybe it was really urgent, Zhao Weiqing didn't continue to argue with her about this matter. He left a thank you again and turned to leave.

She and Lin Jiafan followed the man closely, and when she was sure that he was indeed heading towards the manager's office, she quickly opened the garbage bag, took out the aluminum foil plastic sheet from it and handed it to the person next to her.

Lin Jiafan took it with his hand and put it into his trouser pocket in one go. The two of them didn't even look at each other during this time.

They just passed each other by and then went their separate ways.

It was already 8:30 in the morning. After throwing away the garbage, Luo Jingyao thought about it and decided to return to the training camp on the underground floor.

Just after walking in for a few steps, I ran into Xiao Ping, the coach of the kid brother. His face immediately flushed red, and he raised his hand to scratch the back of his head in confusion: "Sister Luo... Thank you for last night."

"Are you okay? Did you feel uncomfortable when you woke up this morning?" she asked with concern.

"No...it's okay..." Xiao Ping stammered in response, but he quickly regained his spirits: "By the way, I have some good news for you. Sister Jiang is not here this morning, so we can take a break."

"Really? That's great." Luo Jingyao was a little absent-minded at the moment because she was worried about Zhao Weiqing's situation.

This situation continued until she helped one of the students stretch her legs and do sit-ups. When the other person was lying on the ground with his legs bent, something fell out of his loose trouser pocket without warning.

The two little things rolled on the ground for a few rounds until they were blocked by Luo Jingyao's sneakers.

She looked at the pills at her feet, then at the student lying on the ground with a red face. For a moment, the atmosphere became a little awkward.

Luo Jingyao didn't ignore the uneasiness in the student's eyes. She picked up the two pills with two fingers and said hesitantly, "What is this...?"

"These are the vitamins I was given last night. My stomach has been a little upset these past couple of days, so I haven't had time to eat them yet." The student looked around anxiously and pleaded softly, "Coach Luo, please don't report me! Otherwise, I'll really die from the 500 burpees!"

"Shh..." Luo Jingyao stuffed the pill into her coat pocket without leaving a trace, and then winked at the student.

After enduring for a while, it was finally afternoon.

Luo Jingyao sat alone in the coach's lounge, staring at the light bulbs on the ceiling.

Apart from visiting Zhao Weiqing in the morning, there seemed to be no progress for the rest of the day.

Jiang Qi didn't know why she hadn't shown up yet, and it wasn't convenient for her to get too close to Xiao Ping with so many people watching... She silently exhaled a breath of foul air, adjusted her posture, and accidentally touched the two small pills in her pocket.

Frowning, Luo Jingyao was about to take the thing out to take a closer look when suddenly there was a commotion in the training area outside.

I wasn't sure who shouted, "There are so many police cars outside!"

"Oh my God, what happened? Is there a fight?"

"Are you crazy or am I? Aside from the mall staff, a few teahouses that are still open, and our training camp, there are no other living people in this entire mall. Who are you going to fight with?"

"Then what are the police doing here?"

Because Jiang Qi was not in charge, both the coaches and students rushed out when they heard that there was something exciting to watch. They ran to the first floor of the mall, wondering what was going on.

Luo Jingyao mingled among these people and successfully arrived near the main entrance on the first floor of the shopping mall.

Sure enough, there were already several police cars parked outside, with red lights on the roofs flashing constantly, and policemen were getting out of the cars one after another.

Could it be that there is some result from Lin Jiafan's side?

It is just not clear whether this result is about Zhao Weiqing or Jiang Qi.
