Chapter 26 Be Her Shield (1/2)

This morning, after Zhou Yue returned to the factory to report for leave, she was taken to her new post.

Previously, she worked as a female worker in the spinning workshop, working three shifts. After the job change, she was transferred to the labor department, working a single shift and responsible for attendance statistics.

She spent the entire day adapting and learning in the labor department.

She has a high school diploma, so she quickly got the hang of attendance tracking. The next step was learning how to get along with her new colleagues.

The department has one section chief and one deputy section chief, plus four staff members. The section chief and deputy section chief have their own offices. Including Zhou Yue, there are only four staff members in total. As soon as Zhou Yue entered, she felt the atmosphere of danger and conflict.

Just before she was about to leave work, Section Chief Li from the Labor Department suddenly came over to chat with her.

The section chief was very curious about her parents' affairs, and eight out of ten of his questions were about their "sacrifice".

The loss of her parents was a lifelong pain for Zhou Yue. She didn't want to talk about it, but she was timid and didn't know how to refuse. Section Chief Li was her superior, and she couldn't afford to offend him, so she could only endure the pain and deal with it.

Several colleagues left work on time, but Section Chief Li talked for a while longer before leaving. Zhou Yue was just about to tidy up her desk and leave when Deputy Section Chief Luo came in.

"Zhou Yue, today is your first day in the Labor Department. Are you settling in well? If you encounter any difficulties, be sure to tell your supervisor. Don't suffer in silence. You are the child of a martyr, someone our entire society should take care of..."

By the time Deputy Section Chief Luo finished showing his friendliness towards her new colleague, it was already past 5:30.

The shift changers had mostly left, and the bus had just left; the next one wouldn't be for another hour. Zhou Yue figured the cotton mill and the airport residential area weren't too far apart, and walking there should take about half an hour.

But she hadn't gone far from the cotton mill when she was stopped by two thugs in a small alley.

At first, she thought the other party wanted money, so she gave them all her valuables. But the two of them not only wanted money, but also wanted to bully her!

The alley entrance was blocked, so Zhou Yue could only run inside, but the alley was a dead end, and she was trapped deep inside!

Two men, one tall and one short, walked towards her step by step: "You think you can run so fast? Keep running!"

Zhou Yue screamed in fright, "Don't come any closer! Get away!"

The two drew closer and closer, reaching out to her at the same time.

Zhou Yue struggled desperately, kicking and hitting, but her struggles were of no use to the two men!

Two men had already pinned her shoulders down, and Zhou Yue was unable to move!

Is she really not going to escape today?

Zhou Yue screamed in terror, "Mommy, help!"

"Calling for Mom won't work, you have to call for Dad—ah!"

Liang Guiying smashed a brick into the tall thug's head, and when he turned around, she didn't hesitate to smash it again: "Dare to touch my people! I'll kill you all!"

The tall thug was hit on the head by Liang Guiying and bled profusely. After crying out in pain, he immediately fought back, and the short thug reacted and also attacked immediately.

Despite being outnumbered two to one, Liang Guiying remained fearless, always standing in front of Zhou Yue as her shield, her bricks whistling through the air as she struck.

Uncle Zhong and Li Yang arrived shortly afterward, rushed in, and surrounded the two men, punching and kicking them.

Liang Guiying threw down the brick and hugged Zhou Yue tightly: "Zhou Yue, it's alright."

Zhou Yue was trembling all over and crying for her mother.

"It's alright, it's alright..."
