Chapter 26 Be Her Shield (2/2)

With Liang Guiying's reassurance, Zhou Yue gradually calmed down.

Aunt Wang's son, Li Yangchao, kicked the two thugs again and walked towards Liang Guiying.

He glanced at Zhou Yue first, and seeing that her clothes were fine and her hair was messy, she must have just been frightened and was not seriously injured. He breathed a sigh of relief and then asked Liang Guiying, "Grandma Niannian, what should we do with those two people?"

Liang Guiying replied without hesitation: "Of course, we should immediately hand them over to the police."

There was a police station two or three kilometers ahead. Liang Guiying handed the tricycle to Uncle Zhong and then got into the airport shuttle bus with Li Yang and the others.

As soon as they got on the bus, Zhou Yue and I bowed deeply to everyone: "Thank you all so much for today. If you hadn't arrived in time, my mother-in-law and I would definitely have broken our arms and legs."

"You're too kind. We're all from the airport family. If we didn't know, that's another story. But if we did know, we would definitely help out."

“Zhou Yue’s father is a top captain at our Jiangcheng Airport and a role model for us. If his daughter is in trouble, we certainly won’t stand idly by.”

"In short, thank you everyone. I, Liang Guiying, will definitely repay you all when I have the opportunity in the future!"

The driver announced that it was time to leave, so Liang Guiying and Zhou Yue sat down. The scenery outside the window rushed by, and she kept one arm around Zhou Yue's shoulder and the other holding Zhou Yue's hand.

Liang Guiying was only in her forties, but because she was exposed to the sun all year round, she looked at least ten years older than her peers in the city. Her hands were very rough, and the calluses on her palms were still rubbing against Zhou Yue.

Zhou Yue felt that these were the warmest hands she had ever had, besides those of her parents.

She sniffed: "Why are you here?"

Liang Guiying did not mention that she was flustered, nor did she mention how panicked she was when she ran to the cotton mill only to find that Zhou Yue was not there, and how she searched for him all the way there.

He simply said casually, "I've never been to a cotton mill before, I just came to take a look on a whim."

Zhou Yue thanked her in a low voice.

When she cried out "Mommy, help me!" in despair, she truly hoped that her mother would descend from the sky to save her.

It was Liang Guiying who came and saved her.

Liang Guiying's whim became her salvation; she couldn't imagine what her situation would have been like if she hadn't been rescued in time.

—They must not be able to survive, right?

Soon after, the police station arrived, and the two criminals were taken inside. Liang Guiying also escorted Zhou Yue into the police station.

Inside the airport living area, Zhou Xiaonian, who was playing with Aunt Wang's granddaughter Li Feifei at Aunt Wang's house, suddenly burst into tears.

Aunt Wang was about to cook when she heard crying. She quickly took out some candy to comfort the little girl, but for some reason, it didn't work. The little girl cried even louder and louder, walking towards the door while crying, "Mommy, I want Mommy..."

Aunt Wang quickly came over and took her hand: "Okay, okay, look for your mother, look for your mother."

After taking Zhou Xiaonian's hand, Aunt Wang immediately turned around. Just as she was about to call her granddaughter Feifei over, she saw Li Feifei fall off the chair, hit her forehead, and burst into tears.

As soon as Aunt Wang's daughter-in-law, Lin Fang, entered the house, she saw her daughter had fallen and broken her head, while her mother-in-law was holding onto another person's child. She was so angry that she immediately flew into a rage: "You don't care about your own granddaughter, but you're holding onto someone else's granddaughter so well! I thought you were sexist, but now it seems you clearly don't like me, and you don't even like the child I gave birth to!"

Aunt Wang quickly explained, "I didn't neglect Feifei, it's Niannian—"

"Nian Nian! Did Nian Nian's grandma or mom save your life or something? You keep talking about it all day long! If you love Nian Nian so much, why don't you go and be Nian Nian's grandma, and move all your food and drinks over there too!"

Aunt Wang knew that her daughter-in-law was heartbroken over Feifei's injury, and she felt heartbroken too, but there were still some things she wanted to explain.

“Nian Nian’s grandmother and mother did not save my life, but if it weren’t for Nian Nian’s maternal grandmother covering my shift back then, she would not have been involved in the hijacking, let alone sacrificed her life.”

"You owe someone your life, so go and pay it back yourself! Do you expect me and Feifei to kneel down and thank you?! Grandma saved Feifei and my lives every year!"
