There's news in Chapter 31 (1/2)

Two police officers from Datang Police Station came over to talk to Liang Guiying and the others about the two thugs who stopped Zhou Yue a few days ago.

As is customary, the two used a lot of technical jargon, which Liang Guiying didn't remember much of. She only remembered one thing: the two thugs who tried to bully Zhou Yue had confessed to several other cases of insulting women during their interrogation. They were about to be charged with "hooliganism" and would be executed after the proceedings were completed.

“This kind of scum should be shot!” Liang Guiying spat, then said to the two police officers, “Comrades, I would like to ask you, will you publicize these two people’s cases in various units to serve as a deterrent or warning to others?”

"There are no such plans at the moment, but we will make a suggestion to our superiors."

"Could you two please go to the cotton mill?" Liang Guiying asked somewhat embarrassedly. "My Zhou Yue was walking on the road in broad daylight and almost got into an accident without doing anything. But some people just think that it's because my Zhou Yue is too beautiful that she deserves to be bullied."

The police officer was furious: "Is this true?"

“If this hadn’t happened to my own family, I wouldn’t have believed it. The victim is bullied just because she’s pretty. Officers, how outrageous is that?”

"This is absolutely outrageous!"

It's unclear what the two police officers told their superiors after they returned, but the cotton mill held a legal education conference the following afternoon. After the conference, the sarcastic remarks about Zhou Yue deserving of the punishment disappeared.

Zhou Yue greatly admired Liang Guiying.

If she tries to clarify those rumors, it only makes things worse; if she doesn't, people will take it as an admission. She's really annoyed by it.

But Liang Guiying resolved these troubles that were so difficult for her with just a few words.

"Grandma Niannian, you are amazing," Zhou Yue said sincerely.

"I have even more amazing skills to offer, you'll find out later," Liang Guiying joked. "Tomorrow is Sunday, you're not working, are you?"

"No."

"Why don't we go to Beishan Park instead?"

Zhou Xiaonian was playing with her plush toy when she heard the word "play," and immediately became excited: "Elephant slide! Look at the monkeys! Sparrows!"

"What sparrow?" Zhou Yue asked, puzzled.

Liang Guiying explained with a smile, "It's a peacock."

"Peacock! Beautiful!"

The next day, the family of three went to Beishan Park.

We saw macaques, peacocks, fed koi, slid down the elephant slide, walked through the funhouse mirror corridor, walked through the iron chain swing, and played on the manual spinning wheel.

Zhou Yue won a big bag of fruit candies on her first time shooting balloons, and the little girl excitedly shouted, "Mom is awesome! Mom is the best!"

Finally, at the little girl's insistence, they went back to play on the slide and didn't leave until evening. Not only did the little girl have a great time, but Zhou Yue also rediscovered the feeling of playing with her parents in her childhood.

The little girl fell asleep on the way, and Zhou Yue felt exhausted when she got home, but Liang Guiying was still full of energy.

She gave Zhou Yue, who looked as if all her energy had been drained, a doting smile: "Go with Niannian to her room for a while. I'll call you when dinner is ready."

Liang Guiying started cooking the rice and boiling the water.

When I went to feed the chickens, I picked one to kill on the way back.

The fire was lit, and Liang Guiying was preparing to scald the chicken and pluck its feathers when Uncle Zhong suddenly arrived.

Uncle Zhong, panting, said, "Grandma Niannian, there's news."

"Is it good news or..."

"It's good news, but not all of it."
