Chapter Thirty-Five: The Period of Inactivity 1 (What kind of fishing? Who's fishing? What are they fishing for?)

Chapter Thirty-Five: The Period of Inactivity 1 (What kind of fishing? Who's fishing? What are they fishing for?)

Yun Xin quickly stepped forward and kindly reminded her, "The area isn't safe; you should go home quickly."

The girl with dark brown wavy hair turned her head and looked at Yun Xin strangely, "Aren't you also wandering around outside alone late at night?"

Yun Xin made up a reason casually, "I'm strong and I've learned martial arts, so I'm not afraid of encountering bad people."

"Thank you for reminding me, but I'm not afraid." The girl with dark brown wavy hair smiled. "I'll shop around a little longer, you can go ahead."

As she spoke, she walked deeper into the alley.

Yunxin had tried to persuade him once, and didn't want to try a second time. But after taking a few steps, she stopped.

After hesitating for a moment, she decided to chase after him anyway—she wasn't afraid of him dying, but she was afraid that he would suffer a fate worse than death in the future.

On the other side, a girl with dark brown wavy hair was strolling around when she came to a dead end. As soon as she turned around, she saw a group of people blocking her way.

The leader, in a nonchalant tone, said, "Instead of staying home to sleep at night, you're out shopping. Aren't you bored? We're bored too, so why don't you join us for some fun?"

The girl with dark brown wavy hair smiled slightly and said, "Okay."

Because the alleys were interconnected, Yunxin couldn't find anyone if she was two minutes late.

She wandered back and forth in the alley, but never saw the girl with dark brown wavy hair.

Just then, a cry of surprise came from afar.

Yun Xin felt a chill run down her spine and rushed over.

When they got there, they found several thugs lying on the ground. Three others were trembling around a girl with dark brown, wavy hair, shouting, "If you come any closer, I won't be polite!"

Before he could finish speaking, the guy who made the threats was tackled to the ground by the girl with dark brown wavy hair.

"Another one?"

"Are you in cahoots?"

As they spoke, one of the people groaning on the ground got up and roared as he charged toward Yun Xin.

Yun Xin kicked the man in the knee, then grabbed his wrist and subdued him.

"Why are you here?" The girl with dark brown wavy hair was quite surprised to see Yun Xin and stopped moving for a moment.

Seeing that she was distracted, one of the thugs pulled out a knife from his pocket and lunged at her.

"Watch out behind you!" Yun Xin said, throwing the thug in her hand like a hidden weapon.

The "hidden weapon" struck the thug holding the knife, and the two collided and rolled around in a heap.

The girl with dark brown wavy hair came to her senses, first knocking the person standing down, and then exchanging pleasantries with Yun Xin, "What are you doing here?"

"I was worried." Yun Xin glanced around and saw seven or eight big men on the ground howling in pain, their voices loud enough to disturb the peace. "But now it seems I was worrying for nothing."

"Although I don't need anyone's help, thank you anyway." The girl with dark brown wavy hair laughed heartily.

Perhaps the commotion was too loud, because the residents secretly called the police.

The horn sounded.

Several police cars stopped at the intersection. The police got out and shouted, "Don't move!"

The thugs howled like ghosts.

One of them grabbed the male police officer's leg, crying and shouting, "Why did you take so long to come! I robbed someone, I extorted money, I'll turn myself in, waaaaah..."

The police were dumbfounded.

The captain waved his hand, "Take them away!"

Police officers were dispatched and escorted the thugs away.

A policewoman walked up to the two girls who were the only two standing in the group and asked gently, "Are you hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital first? Or should we go straight back to the police station to give a statement?"

“I’m not injured.” The girl with dark brown wavy hair shook her head. “I’ll go with you to the police station to give a statement.”

Yunxin had no choice but to agree, "I'll go too."

A transparent panel pops up at the opportune moment: [Congratulations to the player for successfully surviving instance number 123032 – "Alley Robbery Incident".]

[This pass grade is "D".]

No attribute bonus will be awarded if an S or higher rating is not obtained.

Things are still relatively normal up to this point.

However, upon arriving at the police station, a police officer caught sight of the girl with dark brown wavy hair and blurted out, "Ning Lu, what are you doing here again?!"

Upon hearing this, the thugs' expressions towards the girl with the dark brown wavy hair changed.

The thug who had been clinging to the male police officer's leg asked tremblingly, "You do deliver goods for the police station on a side job?"

"What are you saying!" the captain snapped, demanding sternly, "What's going on?"

Realizing his mistake, the police officer honestly explained, "Her name is Ning Lu. She has come to the police station seven times this month. Each time, she was ambushed and robbed by thugs while walking at night."

Ning Lu was on the verge of tears and covered her face. "I don't know why they can't let me go! Seeing that I'm all alone and a weak girl, they always stop me and extort money from me. Sometimes they even lay hands on me."

Looking at the "delicate girl" who had taken down eight men in one go, Yun Xin nodded in agreement, "These people are shameless, they only bully girls! Officer, you must stand up for us."

The bad guys have all been beaten down, so what else is there to decide? The captain was speechless.

"I guessed right, she was buying goods outside and delivering them to the police station." The thug who had grabbed the male police officer's leg cried loudly, "If we had known you were fishing, we wouldn't have stopped you."

His companion, whose sore spot had been hit and whose wound was throbbing, also began to howl.

"What fishing? Who's fishing? What kind of fish are they fishing for?" Ning Lu sobbed, on the verge of tears. "I just like taking a walk in the evening, what did I do wrong?"

“Officer,” Yun Xin said seriously, “Luckily, we ran into them today. They have some martial arts skills and can defend themselves, so nothing serious happened. If other girls had gotten off work late and been stopped by them…”

She didn't finish her sentence, but everyone present understood what she meant.

An older police officer, his head throbbing from the noise, rolled up a newspaper and lashed out at each of them, yelling, "What are you all howling about! Eight men couldn't beat two girls, and you still have the nerve to whine?"

The thugs opened their mouths, then closed them again. They were too ashamed to admit it; it wasn't eight against two, but eight against one, yet that one alone could easily beat them all to a pulp.

The captain arranged for officers to take statements from both parties.

After taking the statements, the conclusion was quickly reached: "The crime was committed by a gang, involving attempted robbery. The victim acted in self-defense."

"She's clearly entrapping people, how can she be considered a victim?" The gang leader protested loudly incredulously. "Don't think I don't know, I just asked around. This woman has sent seven groups of people to prison in just one month! Including us, the total number is over forty!"

“I even suspect that she may have experienced some misfortune in her life and is therefore hostile to men, so she did this on purpose.”

Ning Lu cried loudly, and she choked out, "When I walk alone at night and meet a strange girl, she worries about my safety and urges me to go home quickly."

"When they meet a strange man, they either want to rob him of his money, or they want to rob him of his virtue, or they want to rob him of both money and virtue."

"I can't even find a reliable man, and when I protest normally, I'm accused of being misogynistic... Ugh, what kind of world is this?"

"I've always treated men and women equally. If a woman were to obstruct my path or cause trouble, I would definitely fight back. But I just don't encounter that. All the bad guys I run into are men, what can I do!"

"Don't label victims arbitrarily." The veteran officer casually tapped the gang leader on the head with a long stick and a newspaper. "Entrapment is specifically for law enforcement officers; she's an ordinary citizen, so it doesn't apply."

The gang leader retorted, "Is it normal for her to be taking a walk alone in the slums late at night?"

Ning Lu cried again, "As a federal citizen, don't I even have the right to take a walk? I can't sleep, I have insomnia, I just want to come out and get some fresh air."

"She didn't approach you. What time she went for a walk, where she went for a walk, whether she was alone or not, is none of your business," the veteran officer said. "But you, you did a pretty good job analyzing things before you made your move. You knew that since she was a girl and she was alone, she had a better chance of winning."

The gang leader was stunned. "I... this is... clearly this woman deliberately lured us into a trap, how did it all turn out to be our fault?"

He was so frustrated that he stood up abruptly.

The veteran officer shoved him back down, his voice tinged with displeasure, "The last time I caught a serial killer, he said the same thing—the victims deliberately feigned weakness to lure him into committing crimes. But upon further investigation, the victims turned out to be either elderly or ill."

"I……"

Before the gang leader could say anything more, the veteran officer covered his mouth and said to the two victims, "Alright, the statements are done and everything's fine. You two can go now."

After walking a long way until the police station gate was no longer in sight, Ning Lu wiped away her tears and spoke in a normal tone, "You reacted quickly and even knew how to cooperate with me."

"In my eyes, it's just eight men bullying one girl." Yun Xin looked at Ning Lu and advised, "Be careful, you won't always be this lucky."

“I’m not afraid,” Ning Lu said seriously. “I exercise, they go to prison to reflect, residents have a good living environment, girls won’t be harassed after getting off work late, and everyone has a bright future.”

"What if someone is as talented as you, especially good at fighting?" Yun Xin asked.

Ning Lu was stumped by the question and couldn't speak for a long time.

Yunxin waved and slowly walked home.

The next day, Yunxin received an interview invitation from the jewelry store.

After reading the email, she vaguely remembered that when she first moved to a new city, she had applied to many companies, and she had indeed applied for a sales position at this company.

This company is just slow to process.

She saw off her boss who was obsessed with celebrities, and she saw off her boss who was seriously injured and lying in bed in quiet confinement. This store had just sent her an interview notice.

"Meeting is fate, let's go take a look."

The interview will be held in the meeting room on the first floor of the jewelry store.

Because of Yunxin's good appearance, the store manager asked her a few questions and decided to hire her. "She will start as an intern for the first month. If she performs well, she can become a full-time employee in the second month."

Yunxin nodded obediently.

"Come on, let me show you around the store so you can get familiar with the place," the store manager said as he stood up.

Just then, three men wielding machetes and wearing black robber hoods burst in, shouting, "Don't move! Robbery!"

Customers in the jewelry store were selecting ornaments when they heard this and were stunned. They screamed and hid in a corner.

"We only want money, we won't hurt anyone! Behave yourselves!" one of the robbers shouted, while the other two quickly opened the glass case and stuffed the gold jewelry into a cloth bag.

One of the shop assistants saw this and tried to quietly press the emergency alarm when the robbers weren't looking.

The emergency alarm was hidden in a concealed spot on the counter, and the robbers were busy packing up gold jewelry, so they shouldn't have noticed it.

No sooner had the sales clerk raised her finger than a robber charged at her with a machete, yelling, "Didn't you hear me tell you to behave yourself?"

The glass counter was smashed, and glass shards were scattered all over the floor.

The sales clerk covered her head in fright, crying out, "I...I understand! I didn't do anything!"

In just three minutes, the counter was completely looted.

The robber opened the door and was about to escape when suddenly, a thought struck him as he smashed the glass counter. He roughly pulled, and a sales clerk immediately stepped in front of him.

"Bang! Bang!"

The sales clerk was shot in the shoulder and fell to the ground, howling in pain.

At the same time, one of the robbers was shot in the thigh and was bleeding profusely.
