Chapter Twenty-Four: The Design Company 1 (Never so close to death)
After moving to a different city and getting her internet back online, Yunxin started sending out resumes everywhere again.
It turns out that as long as you humble yourself enough and don't pick and choose jobs, you can always find work.
Sure enough, a few days later, Yunxin received an interview invitation.
The person in charge of the interviews was the secretary of the design company, and they were hiring for the position of assistant.
Upon meeting, the secretary asked, "How is your physical condition?"
Yunxin's first reaction was—does having a healthy body mean you can work 996 for the company?
Thinking of this, she cautiously replied, "It's alright, I basically don't get sick throughout the year."
The secretary then asked, "Are you strong? Can you run fast?"
Why does an assistant need to be strong and fast? Yun Xin couldn't understand, but she nodded nonetheless, "Born with superhuman strength and good at sports."
Upon hearing this, the secretary's eyes lit up. She led Yun Xin to a suitcase and encouraged her, "Try it, see if you can lift it?"
Yunxin picked up the suitcase with one hand, then carried it around the room for a while. When she finished, she wasn't red-faced, out of breath, or even her heart was racing.
The secretary was extremely satisfied and repeatedly said "good."
"One last question, are you willing to travel for work?" After saying that, the secretary added, "Of course, the company will provide generous subsidies. However, during the business trip, you must follow all arrangements."
“Okay,” Yun Xin agreed.
That's how it was settled.
Before submitting her resume, Yunxin reviewed the company's information. It was a design company whose main business was designing merchandise. It also had a partner factory; after finalizing the design, the design would be sent to the factory for mass production before being delivered to the client.
After joining the company, Yunxin waited for her superiors to assign her work.
Unexpectedly, the secretary told her, "Leave work early today, go home and pack your bags. Meet at the company entrance early tomorrow morning, and come with me on a business trip with the boss."
Yun Xin asked in confusion, "He left work early on his first day and went on a business trip on the second day?"
The secretary said meaningfully, "Yes, because there is an important schedule."
Yunxin really wanted to tell her, "Don't do this. You're making me feel like I'll have to change jobs again soon."
But she held back.
The next day, Yunxin arrived at the designated location on time, carrying her luggage. To make a good impression on her new colleagues, she arrived a few minutes early.
When she arrived, her secretary, a wealthy young master, two bodyguards in black, and a young colleague were standing at the door.
Yunxin was stunned for a moment, feeling like she had come to the wrong place.
The young master of the wealthy family glanced at his watch, his voice tinged with displeasure, "Why are you so late?"
The secretary smoothed things over, saying, "The new employee is just starting out and doesn't know any better. She'll be fine in the future."
The young master of the wealthy family gave an ambiguous snort and then said, "It's getting late, let's go."
With that, he got into the car first.
Yun Xin saw it clearly: her young colleague sat down right next to the rich young master.
One of the two bodyguards drove the car, while the other voluntarily sat next to the young master of a wealthy family.
Yun Xin quickly tugged at the secretary, "Aren't we the two of us on a business trip with the boss?"
The secretary corrected, "We are accompanying the boss on a business trip, but there are more than just the two of us. The one in black is the bodyguard, the big guy is Brother Zhao, and the tall one is Brother Qiu. The younger one is Lu Lei, he is a designer in our company and has a good relationship with the boss. You can call him Brother Lu like I do."
"Oh—" Yun Xin responded, indicating that she understood.
The car drove all the way to the airport before stopping.
Yun Xin got out of the car and froze, staring at the plane parked outside.
The secretary picked up the tickets and walked back briskly. "We're taking off in twenty-five minutes."
Boss Lin Qin found a seat and was about to take out his phone to pass the time.
Yunxin suddenly said, "Refund the tickets and change to the next flight."
The secretary was taken aback.
Lin Qin was puzzled. He looked up at the new employee and asked, "Why?"
Yun Xin said, "That plane gave me a very bad feeling."
Lin Qin was speechless. He turned to his secretary, "This is the person you just hired? Did you make that clear to her during the interview?"
"I did," the secretary tugged at Yun Xin, a smile on her face, but her words were tinged with resentment. "What's wrong with you? Didn't I tell you that during a business trip, you have to follow orders?"
"Anyway, I'm not going to take that plane, and I advise you not to either," Yun Xin said.
Lin Qin laughed angrily, "Then tell me, what's wrong with that plane? What bad things might happen if you get on it?"
Yun Xin bluntly replied, "I don't know."
She just felt that if she sat on it, the danger level would be C.
Furthermore, ever since the secretary bought the ticket, everyone else has been shrouded in a thick, gray-black fog.
Once the plane takes off, there will be no one to turn to for help, and nowhere to run. She would never take that kind of risk.
"Are you afraid of flying?" Lin Qin asked again.
Yun Xin shook her head. "I'm not afraid."
"You're not afraid to fly, and you can't pinpoint what's wrong with it, so you just tell me not to take the flight and to wait for the next one?" Lin Qin was speechless. "Listen to this, is this even reasonable?"
"A wise man does not stand under a crumbling wall." Yun Xin made an exception and offered this extra piece of advice, considering it was only her second day on the job.
"I think you should stay here by yourself," Lin Qin said coldly. "I hereby declare you fired, effective immediately."
After saying that, he strode out.
"Fine, don't believe me then." Yun Xin dragged her luggage and found a place to sit down.
After checking in, boarding the plane, and taking his seat, Lin Qin was still indignant. "What kind of person did they hire? I almost thought she was the boss, that she made all the decisions in the company."
The secretary quickly apologized, "It was my mistake, I won't do it again."
Lin Qin was still in a bad mood.
He had been looking forward to the rest of the trip, but now he was leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed, not wanting to say anything.
Meanwhile, guided by the ground control tower, the aircraft officially took off.
During the ascent, the driver unexpectedly discovered a thunderstorm ahead.
The ground control tower indicated that there might be storms along the flight path ahead.
To avoid turbulence affecting the flight, the captain decided to bypass the area and fly the plane to an altitude of 10,000 meters.
Because turbulence was anticipated, the captain turned on the seatbelt indicator light, and the flight attendants reminded each passenger to fasten their seatbelts.
Sixteen minutes into the flight, Lin Qin closed his eyes to rest, but then heard a rustling sound.
He opened his eyes and saw other passengers standing up, asking the flight attendant what had happened.
Before the flight attendants could answer, a loud bang rang out, and the cargo door at the front burst open. Immediately afterwards, the cabin wall and a section of the fuselage were torn off, leaving a huge hole in the aircraft's surface!
Lin Qin was stunned.
Before he could react, the powerful pressure difference between the inside and outside of the warehouse ripped the two rows of seats closest to the warehouse off the floor and out the window.
Seven or eight passengers, along with their seats, vanished from sight in an instant!
Lin Qin's heart had never been beating so fast, just as he had never been so close to death.
In a moment of stunned silence, a flight attendant was about to be pulled off the plane.
Lu Lei reached out and grabbed her.
However, the suction force outside the plane was so strong that he couldn't handle it alone.
Fortunately, before Lu Lei could say anything, the bodyguard in black next to him reached out and helped pull the man back.
The plane made a 180-degree turn and returned to the airport.
However, they had flown a distance by then, and it would take time to get back.
On the other hand, the turbulent airflow causes objects inside the cabin to fly around haphazardly, sometimes even hitting passengers in the face and on their bodies.
The secretary got a bump on her head from being hit. As she protected her head, she began to sincerely regret not listening to Yunxin.
No matter how high your salary is, can it compare to your life?!
Lin Qin also regretted not heeding the advice of the new employee and insisting on taking this doomed flight. But he was too proud to say anything.
Just then, Lin Qin suddenly felt short of breath. His face turned red, and he tried desperately to breathe, but he still felt terrible.
Bodyguard Zhao, his face ashen, told his employer, "The oxygen supply system has probably been compromised."
Lin Qin felt his vision blurring. He couldn't tell if it was from lack of oxygen or the shock of the bad news. The oxygen supply system had been compromised, and they couldn't provide oxygen normally. Being thousands of meters in the air, with nowhere to escape, what kind of human suffering was this!
Fortunately, after a while, the plane descended and I was able to breathe more easily.
Lin Qin suddenly understood what the new employee had said. At that moment, he also had a strange, inexplicable premonition. It was as if, at the slightest mishap, he would be finished today.
The bodyguard in black, Brother Zhao, said, "The only thing we can do now is to trust the pilot."
For the first time, Lin Qin experienced what it felt like to have one's life controlled by others.
Thousands of meters in the air, there was nothing he could do but sit and wait for the outcome.
At this point, the flight attendant reminded the passengers to put on their life jackets.
People nearby had already begun praying, asking for divine protection. Because they belonged to different religions, the objects of their prayers were also different.
After listening for a while, Lin Qin thought to himself, if prayer were effective, all the gods in the world today would probably have to come to the rescue.
After a long ten minutes, the plane finally returned to the airport and was about to land.
The ground control tower had communicated in advance and cleared the airport beforehand. Furthermore, numerous fire trucks were deployed in case an aircraft crashed and caught fire.
With a sharp screech, the plane came to a stop without overshooting the runway.
More than 300 passengers and more than a dozen crew members survived the plane, although they all sustained some injuries.
In the next minute, everyone on the plane was evacuated.
The journey ended without incident. Back on the ground, with his feet firmly planted, Lin Qin felt an unprecedented sense of security.
I was just looking for a nearby shop to sit down and rest for a while, and maybe have a drink to calm my nerves, but I never expected to see Yunxin as soon as I looked up.
Lin Qin had a fleeting illusion that he had gone to an amusement park and ridden a thrilling ride. Some people had predicted beforehand that the ride was too exciting and refused to join, instead waiting nearby.
Those who went on the rides were all weak in the knees and their eyes were unfocused. Those waiting on the sidelines were relaxed and carefree... and could even eat some snacks.
Lin Qin walked closer in a few steps and asked, "You knew all along that the plane would crash?"
Yun Xin tilted her head. "I don't know."
Lin Qin didn't believe it. "Then why did you resolutely refuse to take this flight?"
"I don't feel good," Yunxin explained. "Although my sixth sense doesn't always come true, I only have one life, and I can't afford to gamble with it."
Lin Qin recalled how he had insisted on taking the flight despite all the warnings. A moment of guilt washed over him, and he asked again, "Since you knew something would go wrong, why didn't you notify the airline beforehand?"
Yun Xin looked back in shock, "I had no idea what was going to happen, and I wasn't even sure if anything would happen, so why did I go and say anything to them?"
What she saw on her colleagues was a thick, dark gray fog, not a death countdown.
Lin Chin was speechless.
Indeed, you can't exactly go to the airline and say, "This plane gives a bad impression, please stop flying it."
The airline will not only ignore her, but may also call the police.
