Chapter Twenty-Five: The Design Company 2 (Five or six different ways to die are available)
"Since everyone's here, let's go get something to eat together." Lin Qin pretended that nothing had happened.
Yun Xin, carrying her suitcase, looked completely innocent. "I was just fired."
"Triple salary! Rehire him!" Lin Qin said without hesitation.
Yun Xin immediately agreed.
Before boarding the plane, there was a group of five: a secretary, a wealthy young master, two bodyguards in black, and a young colleague. But now, there are only four people standing here.
"Why is one missing?" Yun Xin wondered.
The secretary was much warmer than before, and upon hearing this, she took the initiative to answer, "Brother Qiu suffered a head injury and is unconscious, so he was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment."
It's a workplace injury.
Yun Xin sighed. That's the downside of being a bodyguard; you have to follow your employer everywhere. Whether it's going to the sky or diving into the sea, as long as the employer is interested, you have to bite the bullet and go along.
Catching a glimpse of a small wound out of the corner of her eye, Yunxin asked, "Are you injured? Shouldn't you go to the hospital to get it bandaged?"
The secretary just smiled awkwardly, glanced at the boss, and said nothing.
She wanted to go to the hospital for treatment, even though it was a minor injury, it would still make it difficult for her to move around. But the clueless boss, who wasn't injured himself, assumed everyone else was fine and didn't mention going to the hospital at all.
The secretary even thought to herself, "Does the boss only consider injuries like Brother Qiu's, lying there with his eyes closed, needing an ambulance to be taken to the hospital, to be considered an injury?"
In fact, Lin Qin didn't notice at all.
When Yunxin mentioned it, he noticed and asked his secretary to bandage it first, and then they would meet up after it was treated.
The secretary gave Yun Xin a grateful look, then quickly left.
The other four found a coffee shop to sit down.
I must say, the Federal Coffee Shop is really great. They sell not only coffee, but also cakes. And not only cakes, but also boxed lunches.
Yunxin ordered drinks and a deluxe boxed meal, then sat down and enjoyed her meal... since the boss would pay the bill anyway.
Lin Qin, Brother Zhao, and Lu Lei sat down without saying a word.
Brother Zhao is a big guy with a tough-guy face. He looks like the type who talks less and does more work.
Lu Lei had a thoughtful expression on his face, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
Lin Qin, as the boss, took a sip of coffee and felt a little calmer. Then, remembering something, his expression changed drastically, and he gulped down several mouthfuls, instantly drinking half of his coffee.
Yunxin suspected that he was drinking coffee like alcohol.
"The plane crashed and couldn't take off on time. Does that mean I'll miss that very important trip?"
As Yunxin asked, she wondered how many billions of dollars in business it must be for someone to ignore her advice and insist on boarding the plane, even if it meant not waiting for the next flight.
Upon hearing this, Lin Qin's expression changed again.
He raised his wrist, glanced at the time on his watch, and immediately exclaimed, "Oh no! I'm going to miss the concert!"
Lin Qin stood up, intending to rush out, but seeing that the bodyguard and Lu Lei looked pale and that two employees were missing, he sighed and sat back down.
Yun Xin blinked. If she hadn't misheard, the boss had just said "concert"?
Lin Qin's gaze met Yun Xin's, and he realized he had let something slip, feeling a little embarrassed. He didn't want to explain, but his secretary wasn't there, and the remaining bodyguards and Lu Lei weren't the type to speak up. Reluctantly, he could only say it himself, "Superstar Kailin's concert, live, front row! Everyone has a ticket!"
Yunxin: So it really was a schedule, the kind of schedule you get when you're chasing after celebrities.
But……
"So you're skipping work to chase after celebrities?" Yun Xin wondered.
Lin Chin said, "What's so great about attending a class! Karin's concert only happens once every few years!"
"In the past, when countries were at war, we couldn't even go to the war sites. Now, the victorious nations have absorbed the defeated nations, and there's only one federation on the entire planet. We're all one family, and we can finally listen to the live broadcasts!"
"Kaylyn is already over 50 years old. How many more tours can she hold in the future? Every concert we see is one less we can enjoy!"
Lin Qin became more and more excited as he spoke, and eventually he gave up on managing his self-image.
"If you're going to a concert, you can go alone. Why do the employees have to go on business trips with you?" Yunxin asked, puzzled.
Lin Qin said in a deep voice, "This is an employee benefit."
Yun Xin raised her hand, "Can I give up?"
She didn't really want this kind of benefit.
Lin Qin was about to glare at her, but thinking of the plane crash earlier, he wilted again. "No, I have to accompany the boss on this business trip. I have to go crazy for love with the boss and bang my head against the wall for my idol."
Good job.
Yunxin finally understood. This was a celebrity-chasing company; their main business was celebrity chasing, their side business was design, and the boss himself was a celebrity chaser.
etc!
Yun Xin looked at her boss, her expression slightly embarrassed, "The merchandise designed by our company isn't celebrity merchandise, is it?"
“Of course.” Lin Qin proudly raised his chin. “The merchandise designed by our company has an excellent reputation. Every time we make a limited edition, it sells out in seconds, and the server crashes because of the overwhelming number of people trying to buy it.”
"The boss doesn't seem to be short of money, so why doesn't he buy a helicopter?" Yunxin asked curiously. "Wouldn't it be more convenient to go there by helicopter?"
Lin Qin's high-spirited tone paused for a moment.
The bodyguard in black, Brother Zhao, looked over and said, "Because the card was suspended."
These few words contain a lot of information.
Lin Qin was furious. "How can a real man bow down for money?"
Brother Zhao said quietly, "If you don't have to bend your back, who will come out to work?"
Lin Qin was even more furious, "Whose side are you on? Whose side are you on?"
Brother Zhao looked up at the sky and said, "My salary comes from my family. Whoever pays my salary, I'll stand on their side."
Lin Qin, "..."
I almost forgot, the bodyguard's salary is paid by his family. He's only there to protect his personal safety.
Lin Qin picked up his coffee and abruptly changed the subject, "By the way, what's your name? How long ago did you graduate?"
"Yunxin, it's been over a year since graduation," Yunxin replied.
"You have good taste, knowing to submit your resume to our company." Lin Qin wasn't sure if he was praising Yun Xin or himself.
Yunxin felt a little guilty.
My previous boss destroyed all the fruits of my labor over a decade overnight, and I almost went into debt.
The previous boss is currently fine, but his customer base has dwindled to just one person.
The boss before him went to jail to work on a sewing machine, and the building couldn't be saved either.
The boss two years ago has become a little sugar figurine, forever living in the memories of his employees.
If I told my current boss about these amazing achievements, I wonder if he would still be able to laugh.
Lin Qin's sixth sense was clearly not very good. Not only could he laugh, he laughed exceptionally brightly.
"It's okay if we miss this one, it's a tour anyway, we can go to the next one!"
Nearly three hours later, the secretary rushed back with her bandaged wound.
"Brother Qiu was unlucky; the injury was in a bad spot, and the doctor said he needs to be hospitalized for observation."
Lin Qin nodded. "Everyone's here, let's go."
The secretary paused slightly, "Where to?"
"To the concert," Lin Qin persisted. "I just checked, the concert starts at 7 pm, and we can't enter an hour after it starts. If we hurry, we should only be 20-30 minutes late."
"Then... should we take a plane?" As she spoke, the secretary stood still, seemingly unwilling to buy a plane ticket.
Lin Qin can't stand the word "airplane" now. "No, this time I'll take the train."
In an instant, the secretary reverted to her usual efficient demeanor. She nodded, "Okay, I'll buy the tickets online right away."
Train waiting room.
Lin Qin inadvertently noticed that other people's gazes were intentionally or unintentionally glancing at Yun Xin.
That's outrageous!
Lin Qin was very dissatisfied. Who was the boss? Why did they all have to cater to the new employees?
As she was silently complaining, she saw the secretary smilingly approach Yun Xin and ask, "How are you feeling? Are you feeling unwell?"
Although Lin Qin didn't look over, he subconsciously perked up his ears and listened carefully.
When he realized what he had done, he couldn't help but despise himself—and you're talking about others! Aren't you also watching her expression?!
"I feel fine." Yunxin knew what they were worried about. "I'm full of energy and feel great."
"That's good." The secretary was finally relieved.
Lin Qin didn't say anything, but he dared to take out his phone and play with it to pass the time.
Lu Lei subtly observed Yun Xin, a strange light flashing in his eyes.
Yunxin was very satisfied with eating snacks while on paid leave.
Shortly after, the train pulled into the station.
The five people boarded the vehicle one by one.
The secretary bought consecutive tickets for the third carriage.
Lin Qin wanted to continue playing on his phone, but his secretary took out a deck of cards and suggested that everyone play cards.
Brother Zhao was the first to say that he would not participate.
Lu Lei then added that he wasn't good at playing cards.
The remaining three then started playing Dou Dizhu (a card game).
The secretary would hold back a bit when playing cards, but Yun Xin was ruthless and bloodthirsty.
In another round, Yunxin was the dealer, and Lin Qin lost the game without playing a single card.
"I'm not playing anymore, it's not fun."
Lin Qin refused to play such childish games anymore.
Dou Dizhu is only fun when you get good cards; otherwise, it's quite boring.
"Want to play, Brother Lu?" The secretary turned to ask Lu Lei. "It doesn't matter if I don't play well, I'll just use it to pass the time on the way."
"I……"
Just as Lu Lei was about to speak, Yun Xin stared in one direction, stood up, and said, "I'm not playing anymore."
As he spoke, he walked toward the other carriages.
"What's wrong with her?" Lin Qin asked.
The secretary shook her head.
He suddenly stood up, suddenly said he was done playing, and suddenly left. Everything happened very suddenly.
Lu Lei wondered, "Could it be that it sensed something again?"
The four looked at each other, a chill running down their spines.
Especially Lin Qin, who was playing on his phone just now when the system kept pushing him a video, which was about the plane crash that happened five hours earlier.
It wasn't until Lin Qin read other people's post-mortem analyses that he realized just how dangerous things had been.
The accident was caused by a malfunction in the aircraft's motors, which led to the cargo door opening unexpectedly. Furthermore, a serious design flaw in the cargo hold's electric control door locks exacerbated the situation.
Some passengers, along with their seats, were swept out of the air and were caught in the fan blades; others fell freely through the air and died four minutes later.
In comparison, the fact that the oxygen supply system was damaged and the passengers almost suffocated due to lack of oxygen was nothing.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the aircraft's wings were damaged.
If the captain had not acted decisively and released the fuel before landing, the landing would have faced even greater challenges, and there was a possibility of an explosion after landing.
If the pilot hadn't been an experienced captain, but someone else, the plane wouldn't have landed safely in the middle of the runway. A crash into a building would have been a serious accident, resulting in the loss of life and the plane's occupants.
Lin Qin felt deeply that he was incredibly lucky to have survived.
It's no exaggeration to say that during that short, half-hour journey, there were five or six different ways to die to choose from.
If even one detail is not handled properly, the person will be gone.
What's most infuriating is that online rumors claim the airline company discovered the design flaw long ago, and that the problem was solvable. Simply replacing the aluminum restraints with steel ones would eliminate the safety hazard.
However, all the aircraft under the airline's name are of this model, and changing them would mean that all the aircraft would have to be grounded for several months for modification.
Therefore, the company's senior management has been hesitant.
During the hesitation, the accident occurred. A total of eight passengers lost their lives, paying the price for the company's executives' indecisiveness.
After watching the video, Lin Qin broke out in a cold sweat and felt very uneasy. He wanted to ask Yun Xin if she had any particular feelings right now.
For no other reason than to find peace of mind.
Before she could even speak, Yunxin stood up, stopped playing cards, and walked out of the carriage.
It's no exaggeration to say that Yun Xin's every move now affects the hearts of the other four people. Her actions make the others feel inexplicably uneasy.
"How about we follow them and take a look?" the secretary suggested.
Lin Qin put his phone in his pocket and took the lead, saying, "Let's go!"
