Chapter Twenty-Six: The Design Company 3 (Injured, Disabled)

Chapter Twenty-Six: The Design Company 3 (Injured, Disabled)

A few minutes earlier, the Kyle family of three was dreaming about their wonderful vacation.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang, and a metal plate pierced the armrest between the wife and child's seats and went through the carriage floor.

Kyle was terrified and rushed to find the train conductor.

The other passengers in the first carriage were also startled, but seeing that the train was still running smoothly, they didn't take it to heart.

Meanwhile, Kyle arrived at the third carriage, became agitated, and demanded that the train conductor stop the train immediately.

The train conductor was in a dilemma. "Railway company regulations stipulate that the situation must be ascertained before pulling the emergency brake."

Kyle took a deep breath and managed to calm himself down.

Reason told him that the rules were correct. If the train stopped whenever a passenger said something, the railway system would be in big trouble.

Furthermore, braking abruptly could cause a rear-end collision. If he encounters only a minor problem, a rear-end collision after the train stops could result in serious casualties.

Thinking of this, Kyle stopped insisting and just urged the train conductor to come with him to check the situation.

During the struggle, Yun Xin seemed to sense something and turned her head to see what was happening.

It was at this moment that she noticed many passengers in the third carriage had death countdowns on their bodies.

"Expected to die in 2 minutes and 25 seconds."

"Expected to die in 2 minutes and 26 seconds."

"Expected to die in 2 minutes and 23 seconds."

Time was of the essence, and Yunxin didn't have time to think it over. She went to check the fourth and fifth carriages first.

As a result, over 90% of the passengers in the fourth and fifth carriages had countdown timers on their clothes, and the time of death of the passenger in the third carriage was only 3-5 seconds apart. At this moment, the countdown was happening second by second.

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Yun Xin rushed to the first carriage and grabbed the train conductor, shouting, "Stop the train immediately!"

The train conductor refused, saying, "The train cannot stop until the matter is clarified."

With only a little over a minute left, there was simply not enough time to persuade the train conductor.

Just then, the train began to shake violently.

Taking the opportunity, Yun Xin added, "It's shaking so badly it's practically falling apart, and you're still saying it's okay? Do you think I've never ridden a train before? This kind of shaking is clearly abnormal. Stop the train!!"

She acted like a difficult and shrew, trying to force the train conductor to stop the train.

However, the train conductor remained unmoved.

Lin Qin peeked out from the junction of the first and second carriages, asking, "What are you doing? Running around between the carriages, you seem quite busy?"

It's too late.

We'll save as many as we can.

Yunxin deliberately said, "I feel really bad and want to stay in the first carriage for a while. You guys come over quickly."

She had just checked carriages one through five and was certain that carriage one was the safest. None of the passengers in carriage one were in mortal danger. The other carriages, however, would likely see some injuries or fatalities.

The train conductor, who originally had a death countdown and a thick black fog on him, found that after being pulled into the first carriage, the black fog thinned and the death countdown disappeared.

Upon hearing Yunxin say she wasn't feeling well, the group felt a chill run down their spines and headed towards the first carriage one after another.

As Lin Qin walked, he muttered, "Is your intuition accurate? I was fine just now, how come I suddenly feel unwell again?"

The first and third carriages aren't that far apart. Why is it okay to stay in the first carriage but not in the third?

They bought seats in the third carriage! Going to the first carriage means standing...

"Watch out!" In the blink of an eye, Lu Lei forcefully pushed the others into the carriage, but he himself didn't have time to leave and could only stay in the derailed second carriage.

Lin Qin watched in horror as the second train derailed and plunged into the bushes. The following carriages, unaware of what had happened, were filled with a terrifying, loud crash.

The first carriage continued moving forward and only stopped after a while.

Lin Qin looked out the window and saw several train carriages collided together. Some carriages were trapped under the concrete bridge, resulting in the destruction of both the trains and the bridge.

He only glanced at it briefly before seeing many passengers lying bloodied and battered in the wreckage of the train.

Lin Qin covered his mouth, feeling some discomfort in his stomach.

The secretary was dumbfounded. "If we had stayed in the third carriage and hadn't caught up..."

Fortunately, Brother Zhao still had some conscience and remembered Lu Lei, who pushed them into the first carriage. "Call the police and an ambulance first, then go to the second carriage to find Lu Lei. We are so grateful for his help just now. I just don't know how he is now."

"Yes, Lu Lei!" Lin Qin wanted to go find him, but his stomach was churning and he couldn't walk.

"I've already called the police, they'll be here soon," Yun Xin said, ending the call and reassuring everyone.

Not far away, Kyle, both shocked and frightened, roared at the train conductor, "Didn't I tell you to stop the train? If you had listened to me, this wouldn't have happened!"

The train conductor was completely stunned by what he saw.

A plane crash in the morning, a train accident at noon—Lin Qin experienced too much that day.

Moreover, when the disaster occurred in the morning, passengers were swept directly out of the plane, and he didn't witness the deaths firsthand. When the train accident happened at noon, Lin Qin casually glanced out the window. The horrific scene was something he would likely never forget.

The secretary turned pale and reconsidered whether she should go on the business trip with her boss.

After all, no matter how generous the subsidies are, you have to be alive to spend them.

Having experienced two accidents in one day, she felt she was developing psychological trauma and needed to see a psychologist immediately for treatment.

Brother Zhao wanted to find Lu Lei, but he couldn't leave Lin Qin alone, so he could only stand aside and wait for him.

While they waited, thousands of rescue workers arrived and began the rescue operation.

After a while, Lin Qin felt better. He looked up at Yun Xin and said, word by word, "From now on, no matter what you find out, you must tell me immediately."

Yunxin was actually quite helpless.

When she discovered it, there were only two minutes left on the countdown. It would take time for the other carriages to confirm the situation. It would also take time to run to find the train conductor.

If we can persuade the train conductor, everyone can be saved.

Unfortunately, the train conductor was very stubborn and wouldn't listen to any advice.

If she hadn't coincidentally discovered that staying in the first carriage would have been safe, she probably would have had to jump off the train before the countdown reached zero to save herself...

"My sixth sense is sometimes right and sometimes wrong, I can't really say for sure," Yunxin complained, half-jokingly.

Lin Qin said with a dark face, "Don't worry about whether it works or not, just tell me first, and I'll judge for myself."

"Okay, I understand," Yun Xin readily agreed. As for whether she would actually do it, they'd have to wait and see.

After a fierce internal struggle, the secretary finally came over and said, "Boss, I probably can't go on this business trip."

Lin Qin was about to say, "You're an important member; we can't do without you!"

But when he saw that the secretary's face was pale and she looked like she was still in shock, he couldn't bring himself to say anything to scold her—if he, a grown man, was frightened, how much more so would the secretary, a young woman?

"Okay, I'll grant you a week of paid leave. Go back and get some rest." Lin Qin gave him special treatment.

The secretary moved her lips as if she wanted to say something, but then she didn't.

She actually wanted to quit; this whole ordeal was unbearable. But then she thought, she was acting impulsively right now, and if she made the wrong decision, she'd definitely regret it later. She decided to take a break and think it over carefully. If she still wanted to leave, she could do so after her leave and get paid.

Thinking of this, her expression softened. "Thank you, boss."

On the other side, the injured were being rescued one after another, including Lu Lei.

Upon seeing Lin Qin, Lu Lei clutched his arm and smiled wryly, "Boss, I might have to go to the hospital first; it seems like my bones are dislocated."

“Go ahead, I’ll cover the medical expenses,” Lin Qin agreed.

Yun Xin looked at the groaning injured people in the second carriage, then at Lu Lei, and knew perfectly well that the others were genuinely injured, while Lu Lei was faking it.

Lu Lei must have had some special experience, giving him a physical condition superior to ordinary people. Seeing that everyone else was injured, he probably felt that being unharmed would arouse suspicion, so he lied and said that he had injured his arm.

Unfortunately, she could see through the lie immediately.

From this perspective, Lu Lei's earlier observation of her might not have been out of curiosity about her sixth sense, but rather an attempt to determine whether they were of the same kind.

After figuring things out, Yunxin said nothing and quietly watched Lu Lei leave on his own to go to the hospital for treatment.

As for whether he actually went to the hospital, who knows?

Lin Qin glanced at his side, his feelings complicated. "Now it's just the three of us left."

We haven't even reached the city where the concert will be held yet, and half the people are already gone. The secretary, Lu Lei, Brother Qiu—some are injured, some are disabled, and one is lying in bed with his eyes closed.

"Our luggage is gone too," Yun Xin added. "So, are we still going to the concert?" Brother Zhao looked at Lin Qin, hoping to hear the answer he wanted from him.

"Go!" Lin Qin said fiercely, "Even after all this, if I don't go, how can I face myself?"

Brother Zhao was speechless.

Lin Qin has never disappointed anyone when it comes to letting him down.

"How do we get there?" Yunxin asked again.

Lin Qin hesitated for a moment.

In short, he can't take a plane, and he doesn't want to take a train either. Otherwise, how about driving?

“Let’s hire a car,” Lin Qin decided. “It’ll take four or five days to drive, and we should be able to make it to the next concert.”

"Buy whatever you need on the way, I'll pay for it."

Yunxin couldn't help but sigh, "My boss is really dedicated to chasing celebrities. If he had this kind of perseverance in any other field, he would have already made enough money to buy his own helicopter. When are we leaving?"

Brother Zhao: "It shouldn't be today?"

Lin Qin shuddered. "Not today! It's probably not a good day to go out. Let's find a hotel to stay in for the night and hire a car tomorrow."

Yun Xin glanced at it and then ignored it, searching for reports related to the train accident.

After several hours of investigation, the cause of the accident was finally determined.

The accident was caused by fatigue of the outer metal rim of the wheel, which suddenly burst, and steel fragments pierced into the passenger compartment, which is the same metal plate that Kyle and his family encountered that pierced the floor.

Due to broken parts, the train malfunctioned, causing the locomotive to separate from the rear carriages.

The second carriage simply veered off the tracks and crashed into the bushes.

The third carriage veered onto another track and crashed into an overpass next to it. The overpass collapsed, burying the carriage.

Within seconds, the carriages derailed and collided one after another.

Ultimately, the train derailment resulted in over 100 deaths and more than 80 serious injuries.

Of the passengers in the other carriages, only one in ten survived; only the passengers in the first carriage were spared.

"Is this world becoming more and more dangerous?" Yun Xin fell into deep thought.
