☆ Overtime

☆ Overtime

In the afternoon, Luo Lin showed her around the work environment and responsibly explained the work process. The work was roughly the same as when she worked at JK, so Gu Li got the hang of it quickly. However, even a superwoman gets tired after a busy afternoon.

When she dragged her tired body home, the aroma of food filled the air as soon as she entered, instantly energizing her. She changed into slippers, tossed a stack of documents onto the sofa, and ran to the kitchen. There, she saw Chengcheng wearing an apron, standing on a small stool, rhythmically stirring the food in the pan with a spatula. Gu Li was so moved that tears welled up in her eyes. She went over and hugged the little guy from behind, giving him a few big kisses on his delicate little face.

"Mommy, you're back." Chengcheng smiled sweetly when he saw her.

"Son, Mommy loves you." How heartwarming! After a busy day, coming home to a hot meal makes Gu Li feel grateful to God for giving her such a sensible and considerate son as Chengcheng. For him, she feels that any hardship is worth it.

"Mommy, I love you too, *kiss*." Chengcheng kissed her back, turned off the stove, and put the food into a plate.

Seeing this, Gu Li wanted to help, but Chengcheng said, "No need, you've already worked hard enough all day. Go wash your hands and get ready to eat."

Gu Li's eyes welled up with tears, but she smiled and quickly turned to wash her hands.

"Mommy, how was your first day at work? Are you getting used to it?" Chengcheng asked with concern as he served her food.

"It's alright." Gu Li devoured the delicious food the little one had made, stuffing it into her mouth. After a long day of exertion, she was truly hungry.

"Eat slowly, I won't take it from you." Chengcheng turned around and poured her a glass of water, placed it on her left, jumped onto the stool, and continued to ask, "Mommy, I heard Aunt Niannian say that the working environment at Radish Company is very good, what do you think?"

"Oh no." Gu Li suddenly seemed to lose her appetite, put down her chopsticks, picked up her water glass and drank slowly.

"WAY?"

Gu Li tightened his grip on the cup slightly, causing the water inside to tremble gently. "Because there's a spiky ball?"

"What is a spiked ball?" Chengcheng asked without hesitation.

"A nitpicking jerk."

"Oh." Chengcheng understood. "Beat him up, Mom! Didn't you learn Taekwondo? Are you sure you can't beat him?"

Can't we beat them? Gu Li thought about this question seriously, and it seemed that he was indeed no match for them.

Every move Chu Yaofeng made seemed ruthless, but he actually controlled his strength. After thinking about it carefully, Gu Li suddenly realized that the bastard was deliberately trying to test her skills. Damn it, she had fallen for his trap.

"Damn it!" Chengcheng suddenly slammed his hand on the table and jumped up.

Gu Li was startled and almost lost her balance, falling under the table. She looked at the little guy in a panic. "What's wrong?"

"It's okay." The little guy's mind raced, and his expression became kind and gentle. "Mommy, it's normal for colleagues to argue. As long as he accepts you, I believe you can be friends happily."

If he's not mistaken, the spiky ball Mom was talking about must be... Uncle!

"That was close! That was close! We almost made things worse," Chengcheng thought with a quiet sigh of relief.

Strange, Chengcheng has always been on her side. He would stand up for her if she suffered even the slightest injustice. Why does he seem a bit abnormal today?

Gu Li was wondering what was going on when the phone suddenly rang. Chengcheng, like a lackey, ran over and brought her the phone.

"Hello?" Gu Li hesitated for a moment before answering when he saw that it was an unfamiliar phone number.

"Where?"

Who are you?

"..." A gasp came from the other end of the line, "Chu Yaofeng."

"Oh." After a soft "Oh," Gu Li finally realized what was going on, her eyes widening instantly. She stood up from her chair, avoiding the little one, and asked, "How did you get that phone number?"

"Personnel files," Chu Yaofeng said. "Where are they? I'll come pick you up."

"It's time to get off work now."

"Overtime will be paid at triple the normal rate."

Can I not take it?

"No." The tone was domineering and left no room for argument.

Damn it, I knew he wouldn't agree. Oh well, what's done is done, so why not go?
