☆, Foodie
Looking at the table full of colorful and fragrant pastries, Chengcheng couldn't help but lick his lips a few times. Then he tried a piece of each, and the strawberry cake was the one he liked best. He quickly filled a plate with the pastries, found a quiet corner, and sat down to eat. As he ate, he couldn't help but smile contentedly.
He hadn't eaten so heartily since returning to China; he really enjoyed the meal today.
Suddenly, a groping hand appeared out of nowhere and snatched a piece of strawberry cake from him. Chengcheng immediately became unhappy, pouting and muttering, "I licked it..." He looked up, his pupils suddenly dilated, and his small body shrank back abruptly, pressing against the wall in a gesture of surrender. "Mommy, what are you doing here?"
Gu Li glanced around and saw Chu Yaofeng standing in a conspicuous spot not far away. Her heart tightened, and before she could answer the little guy's question, she grabbed his wrist and dragged him toward the toilet.
Chu Yaofeng seemed to have a telepathic connection, sensing that there was something worth looking at over there. He turned his head and only caught a fleeting glimpse of a white figure dragging something that looked like a mop into the toilet.
He figured it must be the cleaning lady, he thought, without giving it much thought. He turned around to look for Gu Li, but she was nowhere to be seen.
In the restroom, Gu Li locked the door to the private bathroom. Turning around, she saw her son sitting on the toilet, happily eating cake.
She sighed, realizing the little foodie was hopeless. She really wanted to take a picture of him right now and show it to her future daughter-in-law.
Chengcheng saw his mother with her arms crossed, staring intently at him. He frowned slightly, as if reluctant to part with her, and said, "Here, have some."
Gu Li gave a forced smile, "I don't have your kind of taste."
Chengcheng smiled, his eyes crinkling, as if afraid she would change her mind and snatch it from him again. He devoured the cake in a few big bites, and then, still wanting more, he licked the cream off his face and even his little hands, leaving them clean.
Then, patting his round belly, he said, "I'm full. Now, tell me. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll tell you everything I know."
*Slap!* A hard slap landed on his forehead, instantly raising a large bump. "How are you feeling?"
"Waaah..." Chengcheng touched the big bump on his forehead and pretended to cry.
Mom is a bad girl, isn't she? She can't stand seeing him happy, can she?
Do you know why I hit you?
With tears in her eyes and looking pitiful, Chengcheng nodded and said, "I shouldn't have run around like this without telling you."
"Do you know why you still made me angry?"
Gu Li spoke sharply, startling the little one so much that he gasped for breath. He fiddled with his fingers and mumbled in a childish voice, "I didn't know you were coming. Relax, relax, nobody knows you're my mom. Let's just pretend we don't know each other."
Gu Li wasn't worried about their mother-son relationship being exposed; she was afraid that he would run into Chu Yaofeng, and that the suspicious man would suspect something. After all, Chengcheng had Chu family blood in his veins, and a DNA test would reveal the truth, with consequences that Gu Li couldn't imagine.
"You should go back right away."
"No, I have a show to do later."
What program?
"It's a secret. By the way, Mom, I heard someone saying bad things about you and Grandma. Do you want me to help you deal with them?"
"Is it one red and one green?"
"Yes, yes." Chengcheng nodded vigorously.
"Okay, I'll leave it to you." Gu Li pursed her lips and thought for a moment. She really shouldn't go herself. After all, she still needed to make a living in B City, and her reputation was very important. "But you have to go out wearing a mask. No one can see your face again."
"Don't worry, I prepared the mask a long time ago." The little guy smiled mysteriously. "Mommy, just wait and see the show."
