Chapter 188 Chaos in the Wind

Chapter 188 Chaos in the Wind

The Jingzhou troops selling sick armadillos were originally stationed in this village by Prince Jing, both to sell the armadillos and to monitor Xiliang's movements.

The Jingzhou army has approached the border between Jingzhou and Liangzhou. Although the Western Liang army is still in the dark, this small group of Jingzhou soldiers are aware of it.

Several Jingzhou soldiers disguised as villagers were chatting and standing guard at the village entrance, while the rest of the soldiers were packing their luggage inside the village.

A man leaned on his hoe with his arms crossed and said, "General Jia has impounded the carriage, but why is there no movement in the house? Is he staying here or going to join the army? He hasn't said a word."

Another said, "The general was very angry because he failed to catch up with Shen Yuexi who had escaped earlier. He might be torturing those two old guys in the house."

"I heard that the old lady without front teeth is the wife of the Marquis of Pingyang?"

"Marquis Pingyang was demoted a long time ago. What's with the madam? Tsk... The general will probably torture them before taking us to join the army. Let's just wait here."

The leader said, "Don't just chat. General Jia ordered us to stand guard here. If there is anything unusual, report it immediately..."

This one said, "Boss, you're worrying too much. The terrain here is so open, and it's broad daylight. We can see someone coming from two miles away."

The other one rubbed his stomach and complained, "I haven't had lunch yet, and I just chased him all the way..."

Everyone was arguing when a sergeant reminded: "Look, there's a woman coming from the distance."

Everyone looked up and saw a young girl walking slowly towards them. She was only wearing ordinary peasant clothes, but her figure was slender and graceful, which made people's heart beat fast.

She was carrying a basket in her arms, covered with a white cloth. I didn't know what was inside, but she looked very tired.

"Wow, this young lady is so pretty." A sergeant stared at the approaching girl. "I wonder if she's married yet?"

Someone nearby mocked, "Such a beautiful woman must be taken. Don't have any bad ideas."

Seeing that it was a frail young woman, the crowd didn't approach to question her. Instead, they stood there and laughed at each other. The young woman came closer, wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, and said, "Hey brothers, I'm lost. I'm tired and thirsty. Does anyone have any water?"

Everyone took off their water bags from their waists and rushed forward to surround the girl.

"Drink mine."

"Don't drink his, he has bad breath!"

"Nonsense, I just filled my water bottle and haven't drunk a single sip!"

The girl raised her charming bright eyes and looked at the soldiers one by one with a smile. Every soldier who was seen blushed and his heart beat fast, and held out his water bag, hoping that she would take it.

"I'm deeply touched by all of you gentlemen's hospitality. So, the bread in my basket was originally for my husband, so I'll share it with you."

The leading soldier said, "That...that won't do. We're going to eat, so what will your husband eat..."

The girl put the basket down, sighed, and said, "It doesn't matter. My husband is a playboy and is currently hanging out with ten beautiful women at home. It's okay if he doesn't eat this cake."

"What? There are such bastard men in the world!" Everyone spoke up for the girl in unison.

The husband doesn't cherish such a young and beautiful woman. He is absolutely blind.

Many people here are still single, but I didn’t expect that this lady’s husband already has eleven wives.

It's so unfair.

"That's right," the girl said, tears welling up in her eyes. "Tell me what's wrong with me? Ten of them stacked together can't compare to me. Not only am I pretty, I can also cook, look."

As she spoke, the girl lifted the white cloth covering the basket, revealing dozens of flatbreads inside. "Everyone, feel free to eat them. Don't give any to that unfaithful man!"

"Yes, your husband just doesn't have eyes."

Everyone echoed the sentiment, reaching for the bread from the basket. They had been hungry for most of the day, and even though the bread was cold, it was a delicacy in their eyes.

Everyone tore into the bread and stuffed it into their mouths while listening to the girl continue to vent her grievances: "I can not only cook, I can also build things."

"Ah...making things! That's even more impressive," everyone nodded. "These days, every woman lives in seclusion, never leaving the house. Having a craft is no mean feat."

"I wonder what this lady will make?" asked a sergeant.

"I can build a city," the girl continued.

Everyone cried out in unison, and half of the bread in their mouths fell to the ground.

"Surprised, right?" the girl burst into laughter, covering her mouth. "I have more to tell you. Do you want to hear it?"

"This young lady is quite the joker," the leading sergeant said with a laugh. "I guess what she's saying next is just to tease us all, right?"

"No, I'm serious," the girl said with a pout, "I can also perform magic tricks and bring people back to life."

Everyone was even more surprised and said to the girl, "You are bragging, come up with someone and show us."

The girl sighed and said, "Since you insist, I'll show you my ugliness. Watch carefully, it'll only take the blink of an eye. I'm going to conjure up thirteen people."

The girl raised her hand seriously and said, "Change!"

Everyone stared at her hand for a long moment. One of them looked at the girl and asked, "What did you conjure up?"

"Look back." The girl put her hand down.

Before anyone could turn around, a sharp blade was exposed next to everyone's neck.

The leading Jingzhou soldier turned around and saw that there were more than a dozen soldiers holding swords behind them.

Got fooled.

No wonder this girl was fooling them. They were so attracted to her that no one noticed when someone touched them from behind.

But this group of people looks so familiar, as if they were the ones who were chasing on horseback just now.

"You...you are the group that escaped just now." A Jingzhou soldier finally reacted and recognized the newcomers.

Actually, it’s not their fault. At the time, they only knew that the general had captured two women, and there was chaos behind them. When they chased them, they had already ridden away. They had no idea what they looked like.

"Isn't it?" the girl laughed. "It's only been a short while, and you can't recognize me anymore?"

"Ah, you are Shen Yue..."

Before the soldier could even shout, a large hand appeared next to his face and stuffed a hard clod of dirt into his mouth. He was then pinned to the ground and tied up.

"Master, for safety's sake, shall we kill them all?" Qiang Lin instructed the secret guards to tie up these Jingzhou soldiers, then looked at Shen Yuexi.

The bound Jingzhou soldiers were terrified. They hadn't expected to be killed right after eating the bread. They all began to struggle, looking at Shen Yuexi with pleading eyes.

Shen Yuexi shook her head and said, "No need, they are no longer in the way. Just move them to a secluded corner where no one can see them."

Qiang Lin sheathed his knife and waved his hand for his subordinates to proceed. He then looked towards the village.

Their carriage was parked in front of a house in the center of the village. It seemed that Doctor Hua and Madam Li were being held captive there.

"Master, even though the sentry post has been taken care of, there are still hundreds of enemy soldiers in the village. We can't just charge in openly."

Shen Yuexi said, "Qiang Lin, you lead the way. We'll find a deserted place to go in."

"Master, please don't go into the village. I will lead the soldiers in to rescue them."

As the two were discussing, a howling sound was heard in the village.

Shen Yuexi was startled by the sound. The crying sounded so miserable, could something have happened?

As soon as she turned her gaze to the houses in the village, she saw an old man and an old lady walking out of the yard. They were Doctor Hua and Madam Li.

Immediately behind Doctor Hua, General Jia came out crying and howling, kneeling on the ground, grabbing Doctor Hua's trouser legs with both hands and shouting:

"Doctor Hua, please have mercy on me and save my life."

General Jia's voice was very loud, and even though she was far away, Shen Yuexi could hear it clearly.

It was just that things had happened so suddenly that she didn't know what to do. Even Qiang Lin was stunned.

It seems that people don't need them to save them anymore.

Doctor Hua shook his head and muttered a few words, but no one knew what he was saying.

General Jia happened to look up at the village entrance and immediately spotted Shen Yuexi in the distance. He rushed over like a gust of wind.

The secret guards around Shen Yuexi were afraid that he would harm her, so they all drew their swords. But General Jia knelt on the ground from a distance and banged his head against Shen Yuexi:

"Madam Shen, I am blind and cannot recognize Mount Tai. Please be merciful and save my life."

Shen Yuexi was puzzled and looked at Doctor Hua and Madam Li who were approaching.

Doctor Hua sighed and said, "I just took his pulse and found that his leprosy is about to flare up."
