Chapter 18 Teaching a Lesson to a Scoundrel

Before his older brother could react, he grabbed the wooden stick and punched it. The straw stack shattered instantly, and the wooden stick was broken into several pieces!

Ruan Meng's final punch slammed into the already broken wooden stick, flattening it completely!

The burly men exchanged glances and then indifferently withdrew.

The onlookers behind them dared not laugh loudly, but instead showed their delight and gave a thumbs up to the Ruan siblings, especially Ruan Meng.

"We've rid the people of a scourge!"

They whispered.

As the crowd gradually dispersed, Ruan Meng asked her eldest brother and sister-in-law and second brother, "How are you? Are you hurt?"

The eldest sister-in-law helped the eldest brother up and helped him catch his breath. The second brother loosened his collar and shook his head, saying he was fine.

Ruan Zheng pursed his lips, his anger still lingering on his face.

Ruan Meng asked her sister-in-law for one hundred coins to compensate the man selling candied hawthorns, saying, "I'm sorry, I broke your stick. Is this enough as compensation?"

The older brother was an honest man. He had been bullied by these thugs before, and he felt great now. He originally didn't intend to accept it, but seeing that Ruan Meng insisted, he gratefully accepted it and left.

Ruan Meng spotted the Song family members in the distance. Not worried about her eldest brother, sister-in-law, and second brother, she stayed behind alone again.

He opened the medicine packet he had prepared for his second brother, took a small handful from the packet containing "Pinellia ternata," asked his sister-in-law for a few taels of silver, said he still had things to buy, and then left with his third brother.

Those thugs, having lost face in front of the Ruan family, went on to harass other poor people.

"Damn it! A few vagrants, I refuse to believe I can't handle them!"

The group arrived at a tea stall, cursing and swearing.

"But that little girl looks pretty impressive!"

"The young man who came back later seemed to have some skills, unlike those two cowards!"

"Exactly! Those two are all show and no substance, they're obviously destined to die young!"

"What a pity! Look at his woman, so fair-skinned and plump, what a waste!"

......

The group of men laughed lewdly, smashed the teacups on the table, and cursed at the tea stall owner.

"Are you deaf? If you're deaf, I'll chop it off for you!"

"Can't you see the men have been talking for ages, and the tea still hasn't been served?!"

The tea stall waiter explained with a smile and quickly refilled the tea for the group. Just as he picked up the teapot, one of the men kicked him to the ground with a thud.

The teapot shattered on the ground, and the hot tea scalded the waiter. The tea stall owner ran over, helped the waiter up, and carefully stood him aside.

The group burst into laughter, but after they finished laughing, their expressions changed. "What? Are you expecting us to serve you tea ourselves?"

The tea stall owner pursed his lips and went to the back to serve tea himself.

As Ruan Meng passed by, she gently collided with it, instantly mixing the Pinellia powder into it.

Pinellia ternata is poisonous, but the amount Ruan Mengfang used was only enough to cause vomiting and weakness, making it impossible for them to stand. Let's see if they can do anything wrong again!

Having just bullied the waiter, the group was smug and completely unsuspecting, or rather, fearless, as they poured several large bowls of tea down his throat.

They left in a huff, naturally without paying for the tea. The waiter spat and was about to clear the table when the owner stepped forward, preparing to close up shop, and took the waiter to see the burns.

Ruan Meng shoved her third brother, pretending to be drunk, and knocked over her teacup. This caused the teapot she had just used to refill the tea for the scoundrels, as well as the teacups the scoundrels had been drinking from, to break. Ruan Zheng offered to pay for the damages.

The shopkeeper's expression was gentle. "These are all used items, so I'll give you a discount. How about eighty coins?"

Ruan Zheng gave one tael of silver, and the shopkeeper gave him 920 coins in change.

After leaving the tea stall and walking a distance, Ruan Meng asked Ruan Zheng, "Third Brother, which do you think is better, this or throwing a punch in front of him?"

Based on the original owner's impressions, Ruan Meng knew that her third brother was sincere but impulsive.

The family has just arrived on the South Island and has a long road ahead of them. It would be a huge loss if they made enemies because of impulsiveness.

Although she was younger than Ruan Zheng, she felt it was still necessary to give a reminder. After all, her eldest brother and sister-in-law, as well as her second brother, might have had the same considerations, which is why they didn't go all out and escalate the situation.

Ruan Zheng calmed down at this point and asked his sister before answering:

"What's in the teapot?"

Ruan Meng answered truthfully, with consequences.

Ruan Zheng was satisfied, feeling that his younger sister had handled the situation very well.

If someone dies, while it might feel satisfying, getting the authorities involved could lead to suspicion...

In this way, several scoundrels were taught a lesson and made to suffer, preventing them from committing any wrongdoings for the time being, and also preventing suspicion from falling on them.

"Will the tea stall owner and his staff be alright?"
