A white light darted through the forest amidst a dozen or so black lights. The black lights flew forward obediently, while the white light was exceptionally agile, darting forward and backward from time to time.
After leaving Fox Plain, they flew quickly through the forest. About half an hour later, Liuli and Li Molin had crossed the forest and flown out of it.
Liuli emerged from the white light and stood in front of the forest, staring blankly into the distance.
Ahead lay a vast expanse of farmland, beyond which stood a cluster of houses. Because of the rain, there were few people in the fields. Most of the crops were corn, which had already ripened and been harvested, leaving only the green and yellow corn stalks lying haphazardly in the fields.
All of this is somewhat similar to what I remember from more than three hundred years ago, yet quite different. The path through the farmland is still faintly visible, and the smiling figure of the monk seems to be right before my eyes.
As she looked, a glimmer of light gradually appeared in Liuli's eyes, and her expression showed a mixture of excitement and nostalgia.
I wonder if the monk with gentle, jade-like eyes and a warm, spring-like smile from my memory is still alive. I wonder if I will ever have the chance to see him again and thank him in person.
Looking at the scene before her, Liuli felt a surge of emotion; this field was the most vivid image in her distant memories. Tears welled in her eyes, and she was on the verge of tears.
When Li Molin turned his head and saw her appearance, he couldn't help but be a little surprised.
After a moment's thought, he chuckled and said, "You're already this excited as soon as we come out. What if we went somewhere else? Wouldn't you be crying your eyes out?"
Liuli snapped out of her daze, blinked to hold back her tears, glared at Li Molin, and said in a harsh voice, "Shut your mouth! It's none of your business how much I cry!"
Looking at Liu Li's arrogant demeanor and then at Li Molin's expression, which showed no sign of anger, Li Molin's many subordinates exchanged knowing glances.
Li Molin leisurely raised his hand, looked at the handkerchief in his hand, shook his head and sighed, "Sigh, I wonder who was fawning over me just now, tsk tsk... that obsequiousness, it was no different from a lapdog..."
As he spoke, he looked up at Liuli, a playful smile in his eyes, and said, "You little girl, you change your expression so quickly, you're like two completely different people before and after!"
Upon hearing this, Liuli became somewhat embarrassed and angry. She reached out to snatch the handkerchief from his hand, but he easily dodged it.
Li Molin gripped the handkerchief in his hand, put his hand behind his back, and changed the subject. He asked with some doubt, "Girl, what good thing did your grandmother give you? I can't sense any demonic energy on you at all."
Liuli scoffed and sneered, "Why should I tell you?"
"Never mind." Li Molin shook his head and sighed, "She really is a girl who changes her mind faster than flipping through a book. Let's go."
Liuli casually asked, "Where to?"
Li Molin feigned a cold expression, but his eyes held a deep smile as he said, "Why should I tell you?"
Liuli stomped her foot angrily and shouted, "You...you mimicking bird!"
Li Molin laughed loudly, then transformed into a streak of black light and flew away into the distance. Only a faint voice echoed back, saying, "Liuli, remember to stay close to me, or I'll go to Fox Plains and tell your grandmother that you're missing!"
Liuli's face turned pale with anger. She stomped her foot and cursed, "Bastard!" How did he know that she had intentionally sought an opportunity to run away after coming out?
Left with no other choice, she could only turn into a white ray of light and chase after Li Molin with a cold expression.
One of the dozen or so men in black, a burly man with a full beard and a fierce look, turned to look at the refined-looking, thin man beside him and said in a deep voice, "I say, young master, you wouldn't happen to have taken a fancy to that girl, would you?"
The thin man dressed differently from the men around him; he wore a long black robe and had a frail appearance, making him stand out somewhat among the dozen or so burly men. He smiled faintly and said, "Who knows?"
Having said that, he transformed into a streak of black light and vanished in an instant.
The burly man vanished in a flash. He spat and muttered, "You're the smartest one among us, kid. I don't believe you don't know that!"
He waved his hand and shouted, "Let's go, let's go!"
Amidst the chaotic responses, more than a dozen black beams shot into the sky and flew away into the distance.
