Chapter 102 Be Careful

During halftime, the cafeteria opened fully, and the children reunited with their parents and headed to the dining area. The two Meng brothers also followed the crowd down, but when they arrived, only Lan Xing remained.

"Xiao Xing!" Ji Sheng walked over with Lan's father, followed by the two Meng brothers.

"Oh, Meng Zhilian?" Lan Xing waved to him, somewhat surprised to see Meng Zhilian behind him, but still greeted him generously.

Meng Zhilian nodded. "Congratulations on making it to the finals."

His tone was indifferent, neither overly enthusiastic nor completely indifferent, as if he had met an ordinary friend.

Ji Sheng glanced at him, then stood next to Lan Xing with Lan's father.

"Thank you." Lan Xing accepted Meng Zhilian's congratulations without any hesitation or awkwardness.

"Brother, this is Lanxing. The owner of the bar where I used to sing is also Wanwan's friend."

Lan Xing shifted her gaze to Meng Zhiyuan.

"Hello, I'm Lan Xing. You must be Wanwan's older brother?"

"Hello, Meng Zhiyuan."

"Wanwan said she has something to do at the stadium. Just go straight and then turn left. You can find it by following the signs."

Lan Xing gave them directions. She was originally going to go with them, but Meng Wan said she would be back soon and asked her to stay with her father, so she didn't go. The Meng brothers' arrival was just in time; it put her mind at ease.

"Thank you, then we'll be leaving now." Having learned where Meng Wan was going, Meng Zhiyuan and Meng Zhilian didn't intend to stay any longer.

"Xiao Xing, look at the video I recorded for you, you're so cool!"

"Let me see the photos first!"

"Photos? Photos... I'll show you later." Ji Sheng's voice betrayed his guilt.

"Why are you late? The camera is right here with you." Lan Xing asked, puzzled. She snatched the camera away. Ji Sheng tried to salvage it, but Lan Xing glared at him and stopped him.

Mr. Lan didn't say anything, just watched the two of them playfully bickering with a smile.

"Hey! Ji Sheng, what kind of crap did you film?"

Then came Ji Sheng's pleas for mercy...

Meng Zhilian smiled and listened to the sounds of Ji Sheng and Lan Xing playing around behind him. He shook his head slightly but did not stop walking.

"If it's not a good fit, you should back out in time."

Meng Zhilian was taken aback by Meng Zhiyuan's words, but then shook his head in relief.

"I know."

Meanwhile, Meng Wan and Yan Nian headed to the stadium.

"Didn't you want to know how I knew I was the eldest daughter of the Tang family? See you at the stadium."

Meng Wan gave Yan Nian a half-smile and showed him the text message Tang Zhiyi had sent.

"She was surprisingly clever this time, knowing to choose a time when everyone is eating in the cafeteria to ask me out."

Yan Nian snorted coldly, "If she were really smart, she wouldn't have provoked you."

Meng Wan smiled and said nothing, but she clearly agreed with Yan Nian's words.

"That's about it, I'll head over now." As they were about to part ways at the stadium, Yan Nian grabbed her hand.

Be careful.

Meng Wan nodded, shook her phone, and it showed 'Calling in progress'.

Yan Nian cupped her face and rubbed it, feeling both angry and helpless, but he could only watch Meng Wan walk into the gymnasium.

Before going in, Meng Wan glanced in Yan Nian's direction before pushing open the door and walking in. The room was quite empty. When she looked up, she found Tang Zhiyi standing in the second-floor audience seats, staring at her with a somewhat sinister look.

"What, you invited me over but are afraid to meet me face-to-face?"

"Meng Wan, you've been stealing the spotlight all morning, haven't you? Feeling great?" If this were back in No. 1 High School, all that spotlight should have been yours!

Thinking of this, Tang Zhiyi's expression grew even darker. Meng Wan, however, acted as if she knew nothing, looking at her with an innocent expression.

"Really? But I'm always in the limelight."

Tang Zhiyi gritted her teeth so hard they almost broke, but she had no words to refute it. Indeed, she was clearly the eldest daughter of the Tang family, but in the class, she was just an insignificant nobody, while Meng Wan! No matter what she did, she could attract everyone's attention.

As long as she sits there, people will take the initiative to talk to her, agree with her, or even flatter her!

Why should she?! Just because she enjoyed those years of pampered life?!

Tang Zhiyi's anger level rose higher and higher. When she saw Meng Wan about to walk up, she picked up a basketball from the basket next to her and threw it at her.

One after another, she inflated each basketball, and the sound of them hitting the floor echoed throughout the stadium.

Meng Wan was forced to stop, dodging the basketballs that Tang Zhiyi threw down and bounced off the ground.

"Tang Zhiyi!" Catching the last bounced basketball, Meng Wan suppressed her anger and casually tossed it into the corner basket.

"What's wrong, Meng Wan? You can't hold back either? Aren't you usually so calm? How come you can't even handle this little bit of a lesson? Aren't you usually so elegant and aloof? Don't you feel pretty pathetic right now?"

The series of raised tones was irritating to listen to.

Meng Wan laughed in exasperation, "What, is this all you've got? If you could just throw a knife, I might respect you a little. Always only capable of these low-class things, who's really looking down on themselves?"

"Meng Wan! What gives you the right to accuse me like that? You're just a fake heiress who was switched at birth. Your destiny is that dilapidated, decaying apartment building. Do you understand? Everything you have now should be mine, mine!"

Seeing Meng Wan still looking calm and arrogant, Tang Zhiyi, who was unaware of her own inferiority complex, became increasingly anxious.

It shouldn't be like this. The last time she saw Meng Wan, she was dressed plainly and hanging out with street thugs. How did she suddenly become a rich young lady?

If she hadn't hesitated back then, all of this would be hers now! It would be hers!

As if possessed, Tang Zhiyi picked up the other volleyball and threw it at her.

Meng Wan tapped her back teeth, smiling, but her eyes were as cold as winter.

She caught the volleyball and tossed it to the side with a backhand flick. The volleyball fell and rolled into a corner, while Meng Wan seemed to have grown tired of this boring and annoying game. As Tang Zhiyi threw the last ball, she simply swept it up with her arm and headed upstairs.

Tang Zhiyi's expression changed when she realized she had missed her target.

She glanced in a panic at Meng Wan, who was walking towards her step by step. She subconsciously took a step back, but tripped over the basket and almost fell. She hurriedly grabbed the handrail.

Why are you alright?

Tang Zhiyi's face was pale, and her arm throbbed with pain.

"What, you think the way you dealt with others in eighth grade will work on me?"

"How...how did you know?"

As soon as Tang Zhiyi finished speaking, Meng Wan grabbed her chin.

The force was so great that Tang Zhiyi, who had been pampered since childhood, instantly had tears in her eyes and her expression became distorted.
