Chapter 103 Wanwan, Calm Down

In the second year of junior high, a new student transferred to their class. She was said to be from the countryside, but she was so delicate and fair-skinned that she immediately attracted everyone's attention. Even the sports meet, where she was supposed to be the one holding the placard, was given to her on the grounds of "helping the new student integrate more quickly"!

So, on the eve of the sports meet, she lured her to the auditorium and attacked her in the same way.

She initially tried to block with her hand, but she didn't have Meng Wan's reaction speed. Her arm was quickly covered with large bruises from being hit by the basketball, which looked particularly gruesome on her fair arm. Tang Zhiyi, however, laughed happily.

She thought the transfer student would obediently beg for forgiveness, but unexpectedly, the girl still wanted to settle scores with her. Unfortunately, she was careless and tripped over the rolling basketball, twisting her ankle.

Hearing her scream, Tang Zhiyi felt as if she were hearing the most beautiful music in the world. She knew that this time, the person holding the sign was none other than her.

"Aren't you afraid I'll tell the teacher?" The transfer student's eyes were red, and she looked pitiful, but Tang Zhiyi only thought she was pretending to be innocent. Her jealousy was raging inside her, and she wanted to punish the transfer student in front of her severely.

"Your family must be very poor, right?" Tang Zhiyi looked down at her, her tone full of smugness.

"If I gave your parents 100,000 yuan, would they be extremely grateful to me?" she asked with a smile, feigning ignorance.

The transfer student's face grew paler and paler, and he couldn't utter a word for a long time.

She went to great lengths to persuade her patriarchal parents, explaining that transferring to this school would not only save them a penny but also allow them to receive scholarships and poverty alleviation grants every year. Only then did they reluctantly agree to let her study in the city.

If I go back... if I go back...

The fear in her heart made her tremble uncontrollably.

"Please..." the transfer student's voice was low and trembling with sobs.

She stared at the shoes on Tang Zhiyi's feet that cost several thousand yuan, tears rolling down her cheeks and dripping onto the floor, forming streaks of water.

"What do you want from me?" Tang Zhiyi's tone became increasingly smug.

"Please... don't tell my parents. I promise I'll listen to you from now on. I'll do whatever you ask... please..." The transfer student grabbed Tang Zhiyi's school uniform pants, but she kicked them away in disgust.

The transfer student dared not speak, kneeling and curled up on the ground.

The fear of going home outweighed everything else. Only one thought occupied her mind: she absolutely could not go back... If she went back, her life would be over. She absolutely could not go back!

"What? Remembering the disgusting things you did?" Meng Wan's voice brought Tang Zhiyi back to her senses.

Tang Zhiyi's eyes were unfocused.

What happened to that transfer student? She remembered that because of the long-term bullying she had caused, the transfer student's grades plummeted, and she lost her eligibility for awards in less than half a semester. The school also waived her tuition and free awards.

Her parents, unable to get the money, went to the school, caused a scene, and took her away.

And then what? She specifically asked around and found out that she was having a hard time and her life was very difficult. Her parents had arranged for her to marry early on, and although she resisted desperately, it was all in vain. Not long after, she gave birth to a child.

After that... she stopped paying attention to the transfer student.

"You've ruined a girl's life, and you've forgotten it so completely, Tang Zhiyi?" Meng Wan patted her face, her expression icy cold.

"You...how did you know?" Tang Zhiyi's eyes held not only disbelief but also overwhelming fear—fear of Meng Wan, fear of that night—but not a trace of guilt.

"There are no secrets that stay hidden forever, remember that."

Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated. After leaving the Tang family that day, Meng Wan sent people to collect all of Tang Zhiyi's information. Although she did not find out how Tang Zhiyi knew about her background, she did find out a lot of things.

"You haven't changed a bit over the years." The same old tricks, the same unchanging malice.

"Meng Wan, if you dare to do anything to me, the Tang family will not let you off the hook."

Even now, Tang Zhiyi is still being stubborn. Meng Wan has lost her patience, grabbed her by the neck and lifted her up.

The feeling of being suspended in mid-air made Tang Zhiyi's eyes widen suddenly. If Meng Wan gave her even the slightest push, she would fall off the railing.

A strong sense of survival made Tang Zhiyi freeze in place, her forehead covered in a thick layer of sweat.

She gripped Meng Wan's wrist, her face flushed red from difficulty breathing.

“Meng Wan…you are…murder…” Tang Zhiyi squeezed out a few words with all her might.

"Murder? Do you feel powerless right now?" Meng Wan didn't take her words to heart at all. Instead, she snorted coldly and took a step closer to the railing, dragging her along with her.

"Let go...of me..." Tang Zhiyi struggled, but Meng Wan tightened her grip. Tang Zhiyi rolled her eyes, her strength waning as she pried at Meng Wan's hand.

"She was just as powerless then, unable to do anything, only able to watch helplessly as she was pulled back into the abyss. She ran out with all her might, while you just gave her a gentle push, sending everything back to square one. So..."

Meng Wan loosened her grip slightly, and Tang Zhiyi instantly gasped for air, greedily inhaling the surrounding air. The next second, however, she clenched her fist again!

"If I push you down, will everything go back to square one?"

"Meng Wan...you're insane!" Tang Zhiyi's eyes were filled with disbelief, as if Meng Wan would really push her down at any moment. This fear of having her life and death in someone else's hands left Tang Zhiyi powerless and her whole body limp.

Meng Wan sneered. She should have realized long ago that this kind of person would never repent. Anyone who stood in her way would be eliminated without mercy.

"You really are worthy of your surname, Tang."

Meng Wan cracked her neck.

"Tang Zhiyi, I'm giving you one last chance. When did you find out your true identity?"

Although knowing or not knowing won't change the status quo, Meng Wan likes to get to the bottom of everything and doesn't like living in ignorance.

"Let me go..."

"Haven't you grasped the situation yet? You have no right to negotiate with me."

"Medical examination...medical examination report..."

With the air growing increasingly thin, Tang Zhiyi managed to utter a few words with difficulty.

Just as Meng Wan was about to let go, two figures suddenly burst in.

"Wanwan, calm down, let her go!"

Meng Zhiyuan's voice came from below. Meng Wan was not flustered at all. Instead, she slowly let go of his hand.

The two brothers rushed over, while Tang Zhiyi collapsed weakly to the ground, coughing with her hand over her throat, her face flushed, and her neck bearing obvious bruises.

Meng Wan clapped her hands and looked indifferently at the two people who came up.

"Brother...brother...save...save me..."

Tang Zhiyi's voice was extremely weak, and tears kept rolling down her cheeks.
