Chapter 157 Eighty-one Million

“After what happened with Wanwan, we felt we couldn’t just lie around like this anymore.”

Qin Yi nodded, but Meng Wan seemed somewhat confused.

"Since the Meng family went bankrupt, although I was unwilling, I was helpless. Even if I was determined to start over, I couldn't even handle the mess, so how could I possibly succeed?"

The period immediately following bankruptcy was the darkest time in Meng Boqun's life. He considered making a comeback, but he no longer had the passion and resources of his youth. He finally came to terms with reality and wanted to find a job and live an ordinary life, but he encountered setbacks everywhere.

If it weren't for the support and encouragement of his family, he would have even considered jumping off the building to end it all.

"Later, Wanwan appeared, and things gradually got better and better at home... Thanks to your mother's cooking skills and Wanwan's shop, I finally had something to do, although I could only help your mother out and lighten her burden. But sometimes I feel like I'm the most useless person in the family."

“Dad…” Meng Zhiyuan and the others were all stunned, seemingly not expecting Meng Boqun to think this way.

However, Meng Boqun just waved his hand and smiled. "I know none of you had this idea. I was just overthinking it. I know that, so I thought it would be nice to stay with your mother and run this noodle shop until we grow old. We are also very gratified to see you all becoming more and more successful."

Qin Yi nodded, one hand still caressing the contract, the other holding Meng Boqun's hand.

"But in Wanwan's case, we as parents have instead made our family the laughingstock..."

"So we discussed it and decided to expand the noodle shop and open a chain store. Someone came to the shop to eat before and said he wanted to cooperate with us. We refused, but he still left his business card so that we could contact him anytime if we changed our minds."

As Meng Boqun spoke, he took out the business card that he had been keeping in his pocket.

Meng Wan glanced at it and said, "I know him. He's an investor, but he has a quirky personality. He only likes to invest in things he likes, and he's involved in all sorts of industries. If he were willing to invest in a noodle shop, opening a chain store wouldn't be difficult."

"We've looked into him, so the investment issue is considered resolved."

"But opening a store and establishing a brand will definitely require peripheral products. If you want to sell in large quantities, you will also need to find a reliable partner for assembly line production."

“I’ve also considered this. I asked an old friend to find a partner. I’ve already visited his factory, and the machines are all the latest, and the processes are all in good order.”

As the founder of the Meng family and the one who led it to its peak, his abilities are certainly not lacking. Coupled with his previous entrepreneurial foundation, he has considered all aspects more thoroughly.

"so……"

“Dad, just do it if you want to. It’s not like you to be so timid after just one failure. Haven’t you always told us that life is about fighting for your principles and never giving up easily? Why are you so hesitant and timid?”

Meng Zhiyuan held the business card in his hand and fiddled with it.

"Yes, our noodle shop is already quite unique, and recently a lot of people have been visiting and checking it out. It would be great to take advantage of this momentum and expand the business. I'll be a free spokesperson for our family business then."

As soon as Meng Zhilian spoke, the atmosphere at the dinner table immediately relaxed considerably.

"Then I'll brew some herbal tea and put it at the door so that passersby can soothe their throats, and I can also attract some customers along the way."

“I… draw.” Meng Zhiyao raised her hand.

"Then wouldn't I become the most useless one?" Meng Wan teased, using Meng Boqun's words.

"You silly child!" Meng Boqun pretended to be angry, but couldn't hold it in for more than a second before bursting into laughter.

The house was filled with laughter, good suggestions, and casual jokes—a lively atmosphere, all expressing anticipation for the future.

Just then, the phone rang in the living room. Meng Wan recognized it as her phone and got off the table to get it.

It's Tang Li.

She checked the time; it was lunchtime.

"Little brat..."

"Tang Wan, waaaaah... I don't want to go abroad, waaaah, please take me with you, waaaah!"

As soon as Meng Wan opened her mouth, Tang Li's sobs came through the phone, broken and intermittent, as he said things like he didn't want to go abroad.

"Where are you now?" Meng Wan frowned.

"I'm in the hospital now... Tang Qi..." Tang Li had only spoken half a sentence when Tang Qi took his phone away.

"Hello?" Meng Wan called out twice before the person on the other end slowly replied with an "um".

"Tang Qi, what's wrong? And Tang Li, where are you now?"

"It's nothing serious, I'll call you back later."

"Tang Qi!"

Meng Wan's voice was tinged with anger, and just as she was about to retaliate, she was patted on the shoulder.

She turned around and took Meng Zhiyuan's phone.

Tang Sheng, president of Tang Group, has been hospitalized and is still in critical condition. Tang Group may be acquired.

Meng Wan's pupils contracted, and she pointed outside the door.

“I’ll drive you there; they should be at the hospital by now,” Meng Zhiyuan said.

"Okay." Meng Wan made a quick decision and was about to leave when she seemed to remember something and ran back to her room to get something.

Downstairs, Meng Zhiyuan briefly explained what had happened to the bewildered group of people.

"Then drive carefully, don't rush, safety first. When you drop Wanwan off, don't come back immediately, just wait there and see if there's anything you can help with. If anything happens, call us."

Meng Zhiyuan agreed to Qin Yi's instructions one by one.

The two didn't waste much time and went straight to the hospital mentioned in the news. After registering, they went straight to their floor, but a group of reporters were gathered outside.

Before the two could call for help, the hospital security guards rushed over and chased them away. Meng Wan was protected by Meng Zhiyuan and was pushed out by the crowd. She only breathed a sigh of relief when the crowd dispersed.

"Go ahead, I'll wait for you here. The ward is at the corner at the end of the corridor." Meng Zhiyuan gently patted her head, his tone very tender.

Meng Wan nodded and walked over alone.

Turning a corner, instead of encountering Tang Qi and Tang Li, they met Su Yao's gaze.

Both of them fell silent. The last time they met was when she left the Tang family.

"Please sit down," Su Yao said first.

Meng Wan didn't say anything, walked over and sat on the bench, with one seat between them.

"How is Mr. Tang?"

“She just had surgery and drank too much alcohol. Plus, she got so angry that she had a heart attack. Even if she wakes up, she'll spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.” Su Yao’s tone was calm, a far cry from her usual decisive and efficient manner.

Meng Wan was also somewhat stunned.

Although the Tang family didn't care much about her, they never mistreated her. She was provided with the best of everything, from food and clothing to housing and transportation. So even though she left the Tang family and Tang Zhiyi kept targeting her, she never held a grudge against the Tang family or anyone else.

It's quite poignant to see the Tang family reduced to this state because of Tang Zhiyi.

She pursed her lips, took a bank card out of her pocket, and handed it to Su Yao.

Su Yao glanced at it and asked, "What are you doing?"

"There are 81 million here."
