Su Yao chuckled and accepted it.
"Some are whole numbers, some are small."
"I've spent a lot of your money over the years. When I left, I said that I would not refuse to help you if there was anything I could do in the future."
Su Yao lowered her eyes. "Very good, buying everything outright. No wonder you grew up in the Tang family. Since you've put it this way, I'll accept it. What about that girl, Su Ping?"
Su Yao herself had experienced the preference for sons over daughters, and she saw her younger self in Su Ping.
"Waiting for an opportunity to break with the Su family."
Su Yao nodded and didn't ask any further questions. She only found out about Su Ping's collaboration with Meng Wan by chance when she saw the design drafts that Su Ping had dropped.
She didn't tell anyone, partly because she didn't care, and partly because she wanted to see how far the two of them could go.
"I heard you know Chen Xiong?"
"I will ask my master to come and take a look." Meng Wan understood what Su Yao meant.
"Thank you." The two spoke as if they were strangers, polite yet distant. No one would guess that they had been mother and daughter for 17 years.
Where are Tang Qi and Tang Li?
"With the Tang family bankrupt and Tang Sheng in this state, there's no chance for him to make a comeback. I plan to liquidate the assets and take Tang Sheng and Tang Li to our estate abroad. Tang Qi is an adult now, so it's up to him to decide whether to stay or leave. Tang Li refused to come with us and cried and begged to stay, but Tang Qi, annoyed by his fuss, took him to buy food."
Meng Wan understood; no wonder Tang Li cried so much on the phone.
"If he doesn't want to, then let him stay."
"You seem to get along well with both of them," Su Yao said calmly, without any hint of sarcasm.
“From the day he was born until now, you have never cared for him for a single day. Whether he goes abroad or returns to China, it has always been based on your wishes, without ever considering his feelings. Now he has new friends here. Although he is still mischievous, he is less wicked. Just when everything is getting better, you want him to readjust to everything again. Rather than forcibly taking him away, it would be better for him to stay here and visit you occasionally during holidays. It would be the best of both worlds.”
Su Yao paused for a moment, but Meng Wan continued speaking.
“You’ve had three children, but you’ve never done what a parent should really do. We’re both adults, and Tang Li isn’t some incapable baby. You might as well make your own decisions, and if you regret them, you can’t blame anyone else.”
"Tang Wan!"
As the two remained silent, Tang Li's voice rang out. He broke free from Tang Qi's grasp and ran towards Meng Wan.
Meng Wan stood up, and Tang Li naturally nestled into her arms.
"Tang Wan, I don't want to go abroad, I want to stay here." He hugged Meng Wan tightly, his voice full of grievance.
Meng Wan ruffled his hair and looked at Su Yao. Su Yao sat motionless in his seat, staring at the white wall in front of him, seemingly lost in thought.
"I bought some porridge, please have some to tide you over." Tang Qi walked over unhurriedly from behind and handed the takeout he was carrying to Su Yao.
Su Yao got up and took it, glanced at Tang Li who was buried in Meng Wan's arms, said nothing, and went into the ward.
The corridor was empty, with only three people remaining.
Meng Wan pulled Tang Li to sit down, and Tang Li held Meng Wan's hand tightly, as if afraid she would disappear. Tang Qi stood in front of Meng Wan, looking down at her; his tall figure blocked out the light, giving off a sense of oppression.
Meng Wan just looked at him, and he looked at Meng Wan, neither of them saying a word.
Tang Qi sighed and sat down in the last seat, with Tang Li sandwiched between the two of them.
"What are you planning to do next? Big brother has already told me your plans."
Tang Qi had just come from there and naturally ran into Meng Zhiyuan. He wasn't angry that Meng Zhiyuan had taken it upon himself to tell Meng Wan about this; sooner or later, Meng Wan would find out anyway.
That little ingrate is incredibly shrewd; he probably already guessed seven or eight parts of the truth when he saw the three of them at the restaurant last time.
"I will acquire the Tang family business, and then the Tang family business will cease to exist. As for the two of them, I will take care of them in their old age, and they can choose to travel or settle down wherever they want."
He had been planning this since the day he left the country. He and Lin Bai started a company together, and with good luck and Lin Bai's connections, the company grew bigger and bigger. Before returning to China, they shifted the company's focus to the domestic market.
While he was certainly involved in the Tang family's losses, what he wanted to do was simple: hollow out the Tang family from within, then have his own company absorb the businesses that originally belonged to the Tang family, and take real power into his own hands.
The moment the merger is successful will be the moment he breaks free from the shackles the Tang family has placed on him! And their lives will no longer be like chess pieces, arranged by others to reach a designated position without any resistance.
He glanced at Meng Wan and thought it was a pity that some ungrateful wretch had gotten away with abandoning them and leaving without a care in the world.
"What about Tang Li?"
"I don't want to go." Upon hearing his name, Tang Li immediately gripped Meng Wan's clothes tightly and looked at Tang Qi warily.
"Ha, the Tang family is full of ungrateful wretches."
Tang Li didn't refute, but clung tightly to Meng Wan like a little animal guarding its food, his eyes never leaving Tang Qi, as if he would be snatched away and sent abroad in the blink of an eye.
"If you don't want to leave, then stay." Tang Qi looked at the wall in front of him. His profile was somewhat similar to Su Yao's, but he didn't look like a woman. Instead, he exuded a sense of determination.
"What?" Tang Li thought he had misheard.
"So you want to leave?"
"I won't go, I won't go." Tang Li, with his childlike nature, immediately cheered. He let go of Meng Wan, but instead grabbed Tang Qi's arm, his eyes shining as he stared intently at Tang Qi.
"Brother, are you serious? I can stay?"
"Now you're calling me 'brother'?" Tang Qi said expressionlessly, pushing away Tang Li's approaching head and flicking his forehead as a bonus.
Tang Li winced in pain, but since he needed to curry favor with Tang Qi, he could only force a smile and dared not utter a single complaint.
Seeing his fawning manner, Meng Wan chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"Keep it by your side, it'll be a source of amusement." As for whether he really wanted to have some fun, only Tang Qi knew.
Things went very smoothly after that. Tang Sheng gradually recovered under Chen Xiong's treatment, and after a month of recuperation, he and Su Yao went to a foreign estate for a retreat.
Tang Li stayed behind, but he would be staying at the manor for a while during his vacation.
After cleaning up the mess at Tang Corporation and completing the relevant legal procedures, Tang Qi, together with Lin Bai, officially took over all of Tang Corporation's business.
The Meng family's business also went smoothly. Meng Boqun's business quickly reached a certain scale, and with Meng Zhilian as a living advertisement, it soon attracted many fans to come and check in, becoming a new internet-famous spot. In addition, the food was delicious, and it quickly made a name for itself.
The others were also working hard in their respective fields, while Meng Wan and Meng Zhiyao, who were the least busy, were assigned to the position of supervisor to keep track of the renovation progress of the Meng residence.
In the prison, Tang Zhiyi, with her withered face and dry, yellow hair, huddled blankly in a corner, her eyes vacant.
