At the red light, Tang Qi stopped the car and rhythmically tapped the steering wheel with his fingers.
"What kind of bad idea are you thinking of now?" Tang Li was not afraid at all; on the contrary, he looked excited.
"It's none of your business."
"No way, at least when it comes to getting Tang Wan back, we're on the same page."
"Rob her? Has her heart ever been here?" The light turned green, Tang Qi shifted gears, and drove towards the Tang family home.
The two people and the dog got out of the car, and Butler Chen was already standing next to them at some point.
"Young Master, Young Master, the Master wants you to go to the study."
"Take my dog back." Tang Li handed the dog leash to Butler Chen, and the two brothers stepped into the villa one after the other. After knocking on the door and hearing a response, they went inside.
"dad."
Tang Sheng stood by the window with his hands behind his back. After the two called out to him, he turned around and sat down in the leather chair.
"Did you go to see Meng Wan?"
"I'm going to take her to the US." Tang Li's voice was filled with excitement.
Tang Sheng's face turned cold. "Her surname is Meng now, not Tang! And what's with that dog! You ruined the family reunion banquet in front of so many people for Meng Wan's sake, are you trying to express your dissatisfaction with me!"
Tang Li pouted, "Who told her to be so timid? She's really useless."
“After going abroad, you’ve become increasingly unruly. Your mother and I discussed it and decided that we should stay in China for now and go abroad again once you’ve learned the proper manners.”
"Why!" Tang Li protested. He didn't want to be controlled. Back in the US, he could do whatever he wanted. Accustomed to freedom, he naturally didn't want to be restrained.
"Don't think I don't know what you've been doing abroad! It's because I've given you too much freedom that you've become so unruly!"
Tang Li puffed out his cheeks, his eyes full of accusation. Tang Sheng saw this but ignored him, instead turning his gaze to Tang Qi.
"I don't care what you do in private, but in public, you must uphold the Tang family's reputation!"
"Understood," Tang Li answered reluctantly, while Tang Qi simply replied coldly, "Yes."
"Get out of here. If it happens again, I'll get rid of your dog."
Tang Li gave a soft "tsk," but didn't dare to resist too obviously. The door closed again, leaving only Tang Qi and Tang Sheng in the study.
"You'll graduate in six months, right?"
"yes."
"The Wen family's youngest daughter is returning to China tomorrow. Take some time these next few days to get in touch with her. It's about time to make some preparations for her return. In the second half of the year, I'll hand over two companies to you to practice with. That Yan family kid took over the company at 16. I don't want you to lose to a greenhorn with no parents."
Tang Qi agreed and was completely obedient throughout.
"Alright, go out."
"Yes." Tang Qi had just taken a step when Tang Sheng called him back.
"Meng Wan's surname is now Meng, while Tang Zhiyi's surname is Tang. Remember that."
Tang Qi lowered his head, suppressing his smile. "I've remembered."
Leaving the oppressive atmosphere, Tang Qi went downstairs, only to run into Tang Li, who was leading his dog upstairs, and Tang Zhiyi, who looked pale and was hesitant to come down.
"Brother...brother." Tang Zhiyi looked at Tang Qi, her voice weak and pitiful. But Tang Li couldn't understand, and mimicked Tang Zhiyi's tone, calling out "brother" in a sarcastic and ironic way.
Tang Zhiyi gritted her teeth secretly, pretending not to see it.
"Brother, can you let your little brother take the dog away? I...I'm scared." Tang Zhiyi had already changed out of her dress. Her eyes were red, and there was a broken water glass next to her.
"Brother?" Tang Qi stopped his step and looked at Tang Zhiyi.
Tang Zhiyi was secretly delighted. "Yes, brother. I was so startled at the banquet that I didn't greet you. Nice to meet you. I am your younger sister, Tang Zhiyi."
She reached out her hand, but Tang Qi didn't take it, leaving Tang Zhiyi's outstretched hand frozen in mid-air.
"Calling me 'brother' is out of the question. The Tang family doesn't have that concept of a loving family." The words were too blunt, and Tang Zhiyi paused, then withdrew her hand.
"Is there no one else, or is it only possible for that person to call?"
Tang Qi looked up and met Tang Zhiyi's mocking gaze.
"Heh." Tang Qi smirked. "Who knows?"
"So, you deliberately ruined today's family reunion banquet to get revenge for Meng Wan?"
Before the two could speak, Tang Zhiyi poured out all the grievances she had been holding in.
"But was it my fault that I was taken away? I just wanted to find my biological parents, what did I do wrong! She enjoyed 17 years of life that should have been mine, and now it's just returning her to her rightful owner! I am your family!"
“Family?” Tang Qi took a step closer and lifted her chin. “You also have the surname Tang, so you were able to abandon your family of 17 years to come to the Tang family, right? We’re all the same kind of people, so stop putting on these disgusting acts. It’s repulsive.”
Tang Qi's voice was very soft, like the whisper of a demon, lingering in Tang Zhiyi's ears.
"If you want to secure your position as the eldest daughter of the Tang family, behave yourself and don't covet things that don't belong to you, such as Tang Wan's room."
Tang Zhiyi's expression changed. "I just want a changing room."
"There are plenty of rooms, aren't there? Your little scheme is too obvious." Tang Qi let go of her hand, took out a handkerchief to wipe his face, and then threw the handkerchief in front of Tang Zhiyi.
"Do you think Meng Wan will come back?" Tang Zhiyi knew there was no need to pretend to be loving and affectionate anymore, so she simply gave up and went all out.
"Whether she comes back or not is none of your concern, but I have a hundred ways to make you leave the Tang family. Remember that? If you remember, then behave yourself." With that, he ignored her and went straight downstairs.
Tang Li and Tang Zhiyi's eyes met. The next second, the Tyrannosaurus Rex made a move to pounce on Tang Zhiyi, who was so frightened that she squatted down on the ground.
"Ha, coward, you're useless. Tyrannosaurus Rex, let's go." Tang Li tugged on the rope, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex obediently followed him, not forgetting to bare its teeth at Tang Zhiyi.
After everyone had left, Tang Zhiyi slowly stood up, leaning on the railing. Her hair was disheveled, her face was gloomy, and she gripped the railing tightly, looking like a female ghost crawling out of hell.
Aunt Liu, who rushed over, was shocked to see this scene, but she could only step forward.
"Young Miss."
"Where have you been?!"
"I was just tidying up the rooms for the eldest and youngest sons."
Tang Zhiyi glared at her fiercely, "Are you blind! Didn't you see the cup broke? Do I need to teach you how to do chores?!"
"I'll pack it right away, please be careful." Aunt Liu reached out to help her, but Tang Zhiyi pushed her away.
"Who do you think you are, daring to touch me?"
Aunt Liu looked somewhat flustered and awkwardly withdrew her hand, wiping it on her apron as she did so.
Tang Zhiyi didn't even glance at it, turned around and went back to her room, slamming the door shut behind her.
In the corridor, Aunt Liu sighed and carefully picked up the broken pieces.
This day was destined to be anything but peaceful.
