At the alley entrance, a black car was parked to the side.
"Miss Meng, it's been a long time."
"Long time no see." Meng Wan didn't expect it to be Butler Chen who came.
Butler Chen looked at Meng Wan, originally thinking that Meng Wan would be greatly discouraged after arriving here, but now he realized that he had been narrow-minded.
Meng Wan stood very straight, and even though she lived here, her demeanor still seemed out of place. The only difference was that she possessed a gentler quality that she hadn't had when she was at the Tang family's house.
"It seems you have a wonderful family." Butler Chen was genuinely happy for Meng Wan.
Meng Wan's lips curled slightly, but she did not answer his question.
"We're returning him to you." Meng Wan ruffled Tang Li's hair.
"Thank you for your help."
Butler Chen bowed to Meng Wan and then opened the back door of the car.
The car started, and Tang Li rolled down the window, revealing a man and a dog.
"Tang Wan, if you want to leave, just tell me."
"You little devil!" Meng Wan flicked his forehead, not hard, but it left a red mark.
"Fasten your seatbelt, and remember, I haven't changed my phone number." So don't sneak out, but you can call me.
Tang Li sat in the car, his phone somehow in his pocket. The equipment hadn't been sold, and the latest match result showed a victory. He exited the game and opened his contacts.
The empty list contained only two words: Tang Wan.
Tang Li turned off his phone, feeling a little envious of Meng Zhiyao. His mother was wonderful; she made delicious pastries and spoke to him gently. Although their house was small and run-down, he seemed very happy.
But he was also a little jealous, because it seemed that the only person who would treat him unconditionally well had been taken away.
Two years ago
"Young Master, your teacher is already waiting for you." Butler Chen stood in front of Tang Li's door and gently knocked on it.
Inside the room, Tang Li was curled up on the bed, playing a game on his tablet.
"Young Master."
"If he doesn't want to learn, let him go back to where he came from." Annoyed by the nagging, Tang Li threw a pillow at the door. Because of the door, the pillow fell and piled up by the door.
Somewhat helpless, Butler Chen had no choice but to call Tang Sheng for instructions. Tang Sheng was quite straightforward, telling Butler Chen to get the key and open the door, or else he could just break the lock. Butler Chen went to get the key, but when he opened the door, the room was already empty.
Butler Chen immediately had the driver take him down the mountain to search, but he didn't expect that the clever Tang Li was squatting in the bushes. He only stumbled out of the bushes after he saw the Tang family's car drive down.
"Hmph hmph hmph..." Tang Li, who had successfully escaped from prison, hummed an off-key tune as he walked down the mountainside. What should have been a ten-minute drive, he managed to walk on his short legs.
There was no one on either side of the road. Tang Li walked on the sidewalk, stopping every two steps, feeling quite at ease, unaware that he had already been watched.
"Whose young master ran away from home?"
"After waiting for so long, I finally caught one."
"His clothes look expensive; he'll definitely make a killing."
"Keep your voice down, or you'll scare them away."
"How far can that little guy run? Tell Ah San to drive his car over and keep watch at the foot of the mountain."
The two men followed Tang Li not far behind, their eyes fixed on him, afraid that they might lose him if they weren't careful.
Tang Li glanced at the two of them, but seeing that they were walking normally, he ignored them and continued walking down the street.
Suddenly, two people rushed up. One of them picked up Tang Li and ran down the slope, while the other followed beside him, warily watching the surroundings.
"Let me go! Who are you?! Let me go!" Tang Li struggled with his little chubby legs, shaking his head desperately, but the man covered his mouth.
"Quiet down, or you'll regret it, young master."
"That's right, that's right, we just want money. Be quiet, and we'll let you go once we get the money."
"Let me go! Let me go! Help me... Waaaaah, help me... Ugh!" Tang Li shouted as the other person's large hand covered his entire face. Not to be outdone, he bit down hard, causing the other person to wince in pain and flail their hand in mid-air.
Taking advantage of this lull, Tang Li screamed even louder. His eyes were red, but he didn't cry. Instead, he struggled and cried for help incessantly.
"The car's here, hurry up and put him in!"
"This kid is like an eel, very difficult to catch." The man simply tucked Tang Li under his arm.
Suddenly, a backpack hit him on the back.
The man grunted and released his grip, allowing Tang Li to break free immediately. Another man reached out to grab him, but a flying kick sent him sprawling to the ground.
"Damn it! Who is it!" The man fell onto the concrete ground, scraping his skin. The sudden flying kick and the pain made him curse.
"Hey, what's going on?" A black car stopped, and another man in black got out.
"You brat! How dare you ruin our plans!" The man who had hit Tang Wan with his backpack threw it aside in frustration. Three men stood in front of Tang Wan, closing in on her step by step.
Tang Wan stared intently at them, shielding Tang Li behind her with one hand as she slowly retreated, protecting him.
"Tang...Tang Wan." Tang Li clutched Tang Wan's clothes tightly, his voice trembling uncontrollably.
"I've already called the police. The police station is only a five-minute walk from here. If you know what's good for you, get lost." The delicate girl's eyes were firm, showing no fear whatsoever.
Seeing her gaze, the three of them started drumming and exchanged glances.
Suddenly, police sirens blared, and the two men took a step back. The man in black who got out of the car, however, was unwilling to leave just like that.
"They're just two kids, hurry up and get them in the car and leave."
The other two hesitated for a moment, but the man in black gritted his teeth and rushed forward first.
Fortunately, Tang Wan reacted quickly and kicked him in the groin. However, the other person was clearly also skilled in martial arts, grabbing Tang Wan's foot and pulling her towards him. Tang Wan kept a straight face, and with a quick flip, used the man's strength to throw him to the ground.
Seeing this, the other two quickly stepped forward to help.
Even for Tang Wan, facing three grown men was still somewhat difficult. Tang Li huddled to one side, looking around, and ignored the prickly grass as he crawled inside. When he came out again, he had a long, thin branch in his hand, covered in barbs.
"Ahhhhh!" he yelled, waving his hands wildly as he ran straight toward the three of them.
"Damn it!" The thorns on the tree branch snagged on the man's exposed skin, and the occasional stinging made the man in black increasingly irritable.
The man cursed and grabbed the swinging branch. Seeing that Tang Li was about to be pulled over, Tang Wan chose to give up resisting and reached out to pull Tang Li back, but in doing so, she was pushed to the ground by another man.
The cement ground was scorching hot from the blazing sun, and the rough surface scratched the girl's delicate skin, leaving bloody marks.
Tang Wan hissed as the pain in her arm made her face contort.
Tang Li was held tightly in Tang Wan's arms, his face still showing signs of shock.
Seeing this, the three men stepped forward and reached out their hands to the two men.
