Chapter 62 I'm sorry

Tang Li instinctively closed his eyes, but he felt Tang Wan hug him even tighter, as if to say, 'I won't let them take you away.'

The embrace brought him a strange sense of peace. He opened his eyes, but his jawline tightened, and his gaze was fixed on the man in black, with a sense of resolute determination to fight to the death.

"Hey! What are you doing!" A security guard from halfway up the mountain ran down with a stick in his hand.

"Damn it." The man in black gritted his teeth and had no choice but to leave. The car started, and the remaining two quickly followed, hurriedly leaving the area.

"Student, are you alright?" The security guards came over.

"Please call the police." Tang Wan released Tang Li, slowly stood up, her expression had returned to its usual calm, and even when she saw her bloodied arm, she only frowned slightly.

"Tang Wan...are you alright?" Tang Li's vision blurred as he watched Tang Wan's tears well up in his eyes.

He wiped away his tears, but it was in vain; the tears continued to roll down his cheeks.

His hands were covered in tiny wounds, his hair was a mess with a few leaves stuck in it, his clothes had a hole in them, and his face was dirty with a mixture of snot and tears. At first glance, he looked like a little beggar.

Tang Wan originally wanted to scold him a couple of times, but in the end she just picked the leaves off his head and rubbed his head.

"Student, is this your phone?" The security guard found Tang Wan's phone by following the sound.

"Yes, thank you." Tang Wan took it and turned off the siren.

"Which company are you from?"

"The Tang family."

“We’ve already called the police. Seeing your condition, I’ll call an ambulance.”

"No need, it'll be faster to call the family doctor." Tang Wan took out her sportswear from her bag and, with the help of the security guard, roughly wrapped her bleeding arm.

The security guard knew that these wealthy people all had their own private doctors, so he didn't say anything more. But seeing Tang Wan so calm despite her serious injuries, he couldn't help but admire her.

"Get in the car first, I'll take you back. I also need to ask you about some details later."

Tang Wan didn't refuse and led Tang Li into the car. Throughout the journey, Tang Li remained silent, simply holding Tang Wan's hand tightly.

"Mr. Tang, it's like this, your youngest son ran away and encountered human traffickers, but now... don't worry, he's alright. He's been reunited with your daughter. Your daughter is very brave; she was injured but... oh, I see. Well then, please go ahead with your work..."

The security guard hung up the phone, looking somewhat embarrassed. His two children had almost been kidnapped, yet the father had only been concerned with his business. Looking at the two children, and thinking of his own three-year-old daughter, the guard's eyes filled with heartache.

"Mr. Tang is busy. We'll discuss the specifics with your housekeeper."

"Please have a seat for a while. Butler Chen should be here soon." Tang Wan seemed used to this and sat down on the sofa. Aunt Liu looked distressed and quickly brought over the first-aid kit and contacted the family doctor.

"Oh dear, this...this..." Aunt Liu gasped when she saw the wound, unsure of what to do next.

In contrast, Tang Wan remained calm, as if she wasn't the one who was injured, and even calmly instructed Aunt Liu to clean her wounds.

Soon, Butler Chen and the police came in together and asked for details. Tang Wan remained calm and cooperated throughout, even giving the license plate number and the faces of two of the men.

“You did a good job, but you were too impulsive. If the security guards hadn’t arrived, you two would have been taken away.”

"Thank the police officers and security guards." Tang Wan patted Tang Li's head. The latter seemed to have not yet recovered and obediently followed Tang Wan's instructions.

"Don't run around like that again next time. Look what your sister has done because of you. A little man should protect his sister." The policeman patted his head and followed Butler Chen out.

In the hall, only Aunt Liu, Tang Li, Tang Wan, and the family doctor who was bandaging Tang Wan remained.

"Okay, don't get it wet for the next two days. If you get a fever, contact me immediately. Also, avoid spicy foods."

"Okay, thank you for your help."

"You're too kind."

"Aunt Liu, let's take the doctor with us."

The siblings were left in the hall. Tang Wan crossed her legs and looked at Tang Li, who was huddled in a corner of the sofa.

"Now you know fear?"

Tang Li didn't speak, his eyes darting away.

Seeing the little devil like this for the first time, Tang Wan lost all interest in disciplining him. Moreover, judging from Tang Li's behavior, he should be much more restrained for the time being.

The medicine the doctor prescribed wasn't very effective; I'll have to go to the traditional Chinese medicine clinic tomorrow, but I'm sure the old man will give me a lecture...

"sorry."

Tang Wan, lost in thought, paused. "What did you say?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't know it would turn out like this. I just didn't want to go to class. I didn't mean to hurt you... I didn't know... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

As Tang Li spoke, she burst into tears, repeatedly saying "I'm sorry."

Seeing his face covered in snot and tears, Tang Wan felt a little disgusted, but in the end, she could only sigh.

"Come here." Tang Wan beckoned, and Tang Li crawled over to her on his hands and feet along the sofa.

The two weren't actually close; they were more like resentful siblings. If one played a prank on the other, the other wouldn't let him off easy either. They weren't in love; they were more likely to fight each other.

Tang Li was only five years old, and Tang Wan had already been tempered by Tang Qi, so he never got the better of her, yet he still tirelessly came to Tang Wan's side every day.

Tang Wan knew he was trying to attract attention, so she would play along with him when she was bored.
