The courtyard was noisy, but Meng Wan didn't stop them. She just watched, unaware of how soft and endearing her smile was, as if she wanted to bring all the beautiful things in the world to her.
When Meng Zhili arrived, this was the scene he saw. He knew Meng Wan was doing well, but for some reason, he always felt a pang of heartache whenever he saw her with that expression.
What was clearly an ordinary scene seemed incredibly precious to Meng Wan. She appeared carefree and easygoing, but only those who got to know her truly... truly valued the people around her.
"Let's go move the table."
While he was still in a daze, Chen Liu came over without him noticing and pulled him towards the central courtyard.
“That room is reserved for Sister Wan. If she wants, the entire TCM clinic can be hers.” Chen Liu pointed to the largest and best-lit room in the courtyard besides Chen Xiong’s room.
"Is that what you're trying to say?" Meng Zhili naturally understood Chen Liu's unspoken meaning.
“If Sister Wan hadn’t brought you here, you wouldn’t have lived past 25.”
Chen Liu's words stunned Meng Zhili.
Chen Liu glanced at him, showing no surprise whatsoever. "I suppose you wouldn't know, if you don't believe me..."
“I believe it,” Meng Zhili interrupted Chen Liu. He was well aware of his own health and had thought that at most he could only extend his life by a few years, so he had never told his family about it, and he himself did not hold out much hope.
But according to Chen Liu's meaning, he was clearly certain that he could cure the disease.
Seeing his somewhat bewildered expression, Chen Liu curled his lip.
"Whether you know it or not, what I want to say is that I admit you are very capable, but if Sister Wan suffers even the slightest grievance in your Meng family, not to mention that Master will definitely kick you out, I, Chen Liu, will be the first to beat you flat and throw you out!"
