In the testing room, Meng Zhiyao was drawing intently with the teacher's help. After greeting him, Meng Wan went to the principal's office next door.
Lin Cen brewed the tea and invited Meng Wan to sit down.
"Hello Ms. Meng, I am Zhiyao's future homeroom teacher, my surname is Huang."
"Hello, Teacher Huang."
"I understand the details. Do you hope that Zhiyao and Tang Li will be arranged to be together?"
"No." Meng Wan shook her head. She hoped Meng Zhiyao could integrate into the group, but she didn't like to tie the two of them together. They were both independent individuals with their own circles. Forcing them together would defeat the purpose of going to school.
"Teacher, you don't need to be too nervous. Although Zhiyao's situation is special, he prefers to stay quietly by himself most of the time. If you pay too much attention to him, it will make him feel uncomfortable."
Ms. Huang is a new teacher this semester and was a little nervous about this situation, fearing that the other party would make all sorts of unreasonable demands. Upon hearing the situation, she actually felt relieved.
"I understand. Don't worry, although some of the children in the class are a little naughty, they are not bad at heart. I believe Yaoyao will be able to integrate into the group very quickly."
"Then I'll trouble you." Meng Wan returned a smile.
"Teacher Huang, why don't you go check on how the test went?" Lin Cen said at the opportune moment after the two finished talking. Teacher Huang understood, got up and left, not forgetting to close the door behind her.
Lin Cen skillfully brewed tea, boiling a new pot of water and placing it in front of Meng Wan after three taps.
"I heard from Old Chen that you introduced your second brother to him as an apprentice?"
“If someone has talent, they’ll be taken along. They just happen to be a good match for the master, and that’s how it happened.”
Lin Cen chuckled twice. "That's good. Old Chen had no children in his life, and it wasn't easy for him to find two promising talents. They each had their own plans, so this finally fulfilled his wish. All the knowledge he had acquired in his life will finally have a successor."
Meng Wan finished her tea, nodded, and her calm and composed demeanor made Lin Cen even more pleased.
"Is Wanwan planning to train new people?"
"It's rare to encounter a few talented people, so I just gave them a push."
"My rascal started a company with his friends, and I heard it's doing pretty well. How about it, Wanwan, are you interested in checking it out?"
Meng Wan sighed helplessly, "Uncle Lin, you're here again, aren't you?"
Lin Cen understood Meng Wan's meaning and said no more, afraid of scaring her away.
"Okay, okay, I won't say anymore, I won't say anymore!" After saying that, he turned his head away and coughed twice.
"Are you taking your medicine on time?" Meng Wan frowned.
"I've eaten. I just have a slight cold recently. Don't worry, I've already seen Dr. Chen."
Despite saying that, Meng Wan still took his pulse.
"So, I wasn't lying to you, was I?"
"You and my master are alike, one likes sweets and the other likes ice, neither of you is easy to deal with."
Lin Cen felt guilty and didn't dare to refute.
There was a knock on the door, and Lin Cen responded before the person outside dared to open it.
"Principal, Miss Meng."
The test teacher came in, holding a drawing by Meng Zhiyao.
"Zhiyao and Teacher Huang are still in the testing room, so I brought Zhiyao's work over first."
"How did it go, Teacher Li?"
"Genius!" Teacher Li exclaimed excitedly, spreading the painting out on the desk beside her. Lin Cen became interested and got up to look at it.
"The portfolio that Miss Meng sent was already amazing enough. Her use of color is impeccable. The last time someone's work was so stunning was Qian Yixuan's. This time, I specifically asked him to draw with charcoal, and the handling of light and shadow is impeccable. Calling him a genius is not an exaggeration at all!"
Teacher Li's eyes lit up, as if she could already see the next Qian Yixuan.
"However, the strokes are still a bit immature. It would be even better if the basic skills were more solid."
Lin Cen nodded and looked at Meng Wan. "Teacher Li is a big name in the world of traditional Chinese painting. Even he said so, what do you think?"
"The fact that Berlin primary schools are so popular that people are desperate to get in must mean they have their merits."
"Okay, Ms. Li, please tell Mr. Huang to take him to complete the enrollment procedures and give him a tour of the classrooms."
"Then I'll go say hello to my brother first."
"Go ahead, come back for tea when you have time. Don't only remember you have an Uncle Lin when you have something else to do."
Knowing that Lin Cen was teasing her, Meng Wan didn't panic. She agreed and coaxed him a couple more times before following Teacher Li out.
Lin Cen looked at the painting and nodded with some appreciation. "This girl has a very keen eye for people. Although there are many geniuses in this era, they are not easy to find. They are all gathered around her."
Lin Cen's words were full of praise. He put the painting away and placed it in the cabinet next to him.
"I can only accompany you this far today. You have to walk the rest of the way by yourself, okay?" Meng Wan squatted down to be at eye level with Meng Zhiyao.
Meng Zhiyao's eyes showed unease as she clutched her schoolbag tightly, but she still nodded to Meng Wan.
Meng Wan smiled slightly, her eyes filled with a rare tenderness. She placed her hand on Meng Zhiyao's head, her voice gentle.
"Tang Li will bring you back after school. If anything happens, just call me and I'll come pick you up."
Meng Zhiyao nodded and tapped the smartwatch on her wrist, indicating to Meng Wan that she had memorized how to use the smart gadget.
"A smart child." Meng Wan patted his head and stood up to look at Teacher Huang.
"Then I'll have to trouble you, Teacher Huang."
"You're too kind, it's what I should do," Teacher Huang quickly replied.
She couldn't help but sigh again, "Children raised by wealthy families are different. Their aura is unmatched by ordinary people. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were this girl's subordinate."
After settling Meng Zhiyao's matter, Meng Wan returned to school. She originally planned to pick up Aunt Liu directly, but Aunt Liu said there were some things to hand over, so she decided to wait until school was over to pick her up.
On the other side, Meng Zhiyao followed Teacher Huang to the classroom, just in time for the end of get out of class, when half of the students had already left.
"Zhiyao, can you sit here first?" He and Tang Li were both students who transferred in later, so even without special arrangements, their seats just happened to be side by side.
Meng Zhiyao glanced at the messy seats next to her and nodded.
"It's break time now. The teacher will introduce you to your classmates later. Can you stay here by yourself?"
Meng Zhiyao glanced at the people in the class; everyone else was also sizing him up. He hugged his schoolbag and nodded.
"Great! When the number here turns 20, it'll be time for class. I'll go get your textbook now. Don't worry, you're all good kids."
After speaking, she looked at the remaining students. She clapped her hands, attracting everyone's attention.
"Everyone, this is our new classmate, Meng Zhiyao. Please get along well with her, okay?"
"Okay!" the classmates responded.
Seeing this, Teacher Huang gave Meng Zhiyao an encouraging gesture before hurriedly leaving the classroom.
"Hey, you're the new guy?"
