What's wrong with him?
Tang Li looked puzzled. Meng Wan made a 'shh' gesture and slowly walked towards the corner. Having learned from her previous experience, she didn't presumptuously extend her hand, but instead sat down in front of Meng Zhiyao.
"Meng Zhiyao..." Meng Wan softened her voice.
Tang Li saw it all and was so angry he could practically hang an oil bottle on his mouth, but he restrained himself from saying a word and silently turned his head to the side, choosing to avoid seeing it and getting annoyed.
What did Meng Zhiyi do to you?
"I can't say it, it hurts." Meng Zhiyao's language skills had deteriorated somewhat due to not speaking for many years. Although she could understand, she could not speak as fluently as a three-year-old child.
Nevertheless, Meng Wan and Tang Li understood Meng Zhiyao's meaning.
"Was he bullied by that woman? That's possible. If it weren't for Tyrannosaurus Rex, I'd be the one lying in the hospital right now. What a vicious woman, even more vicious than me!"
Hearing the last sentence, Meng Wan felt both amused and helpless. "You seem to know your own limitations?"
Tang Li snorted, not ashamed at all, but rather proud.
Looking at him now, where is that pitiful, wronged look from just now?
Meng Wan turned her attention back to Meng Zhiyao.
She stretched out her hand, palm up.
"Come here, it won't hurt anymore."
Meng Zhiyao's eyes were as clear and pure as a fawn's in the forest. He looked at Meng Wan, his fear slowly fading, and placed his hand in hers.
Meng Wan smiled, her expression softening. She raised her hand and ruffled Meng Zhiyao's hair, her expression becoming lighter.
"Come here." Meng Wan beckoned to Tang Li.
"What are you doing?" Tang Li asked, throwing a little tantrum, but still obediently moved over. His movements were slow, but Meng Wan didn't rush him, just watching him incline little by little with his bottom on the ground.
How is she now?
"I heard he fractured a bone and is lying in Ren'an Hospital." Tang Li curled his lip, his tone full of disdain.
"I want to go back to the US! This place is no good at all."
Meng Wan knew he was throwing a little tantrum, so she reached out and pinched his cheek.
"Don't run around, stay put."
"You're going?" Tang Li suddenly realized.
“Didn’t we take the blame? We have to pay it back to make it worthwhile, and besides…” Meng Wan stood up, her eyes changing.
"Some things need to be clarified first."
Tang Li's eyes lit up. "I'll go with you."
"Go where you want? Stay put." Meng Wan pushed him back.
"You two should get along well, no arguing or fighting. I'll be back soon."
The two children glanced at each other, then looked away in unison, neither seeming very keen to get along with the other.
Meng Wan sighed, but didn't say anything more, and silently walked out of the room.
"Mom, I'm going out for a bit. Can you keep an eye on Tang Li for me? If he causes trouble, just call me."
"Where are you rushing off to?"
"Oh right, he's staying home tonight. I'll take him back tomorrow. He had a little argument at home and was throwing a tantrum."
"Okay." Qin Yi glanced at the open door, then hurriedly followed. "Will you be back tonight?"
"Let's go back." Meng Wan put on her shoes and opened the door. "I'm leaving."
"Why is this child so impulsive?" Qin Yi muttered, but still looked worried. She leaned on the outer balcony and watched Meng Wan make a phone call before turning a corner and hesitantly going inside.
The two clearly didn't get along, but thankfully they didn't seem like they would fight. The Tyrannosaurus Rex stared at Qin Yi, wagging its tail ingratiatingly, while Qin Yi just smiled awkwardly and didn't dare step into the room.
“Lili”.
It was the first time someone had called him that, and Tang Li almost didn't react.
"Are you hungry? Auntie will make you something delicious, okay?"
Tang Li wanted to keep up the fight, but his stomach growled at an inopportune moment.
He hadn't eaten anything since last night, hadn't slept well, and was getting increasingly depressed this morning, so he ran out without eating. He had originally been at a fast food restaurant, but the staff asked him several times where his parents were, so he left.
The streets were bustling with people, and he didn't know where to go. He hailed a cab at random and unknowingly ended up in this area. He then used his memory of being here before to find his way back, and surprisingly, he actually found it.
"I... want to eat water chestnut cake." Tang Li was too embarrassed to look at Qin Yi.
Qin Yi looked at his reddened ear tips, suppressed a laugh and nodded, only to realize belatedly that he couldn't see her.
"Okay, Auntie will do it now, be a good girl." After saying that, she looked at Meng Zhiyao again.
"Yaoyao, get along well with Lili, okay? Mommy is going to make you water chestnut cake now. You two stay in your room and play quietly. Don't run around or fight."
Meng Zhiyao nodded, and although Qin Yi was a little worried, she still went to the kitchen.
The two people were left in the room, and neither of them spoke to the other.
Meng Zhiyao walked to her desk, laid out her paints, and prepared to start painting. Tang Li, feeling bored, and the two of them, along with their dog, began to explore the small room, which was divided into two spaces.
"Is Tang Wan really alright? She refuses to come live with me at the manor and insists on squeezing into this tiny place." Tang Li pouted, shook her head, and put her hands behind her back, looking like a little adult.
"No wonder Alan said that women are the most difficult creatures to understand in the world."
He kept muttering to himself, but Meng Zhiyao ignored him and obediently sat in front of the easel, slowly applying the colors she was satisfied with to the canvas.
With no one to argue with, Tang Li was a little bored. His pupils rolled around as he slowly moved over and sat down next to Meng Zhiyao.
"What are you drawing?" The red and black color made him feel uncomfortable.
Meng Zhiyao ignored him and continued applying color. His eyelashes were long and curled, casting a shadow under his eyes.
Tang Li sat beside him, watching for two seconds, then became restless again. He looked around, then picked up a book from the paint cabinet. He glanced at it; it was full of various illustrations, and quickly lost interest.
Just as she was about to put it back, Meng Zhiyao caught a glimpse of Tang Li's subtle actions.
Tang Li felt inexplicably guilty, clutching the book to his chest and momentarily forgetting to put it back.
"Wh...what are you doing?" Tang Li swallowed.
Meng Zhiyao didn't speak, but reached out to snatch the book back, and Tang Li instinctively raised his hand as well. Meng Zhiyao stared intently at Tang Li with her big eyes, full of accusation.
He put down his pen and reached for the book, but Tang Li smiled maliciously, stood up, and took the book even further away.
"Hey, I won't give it to you, I won't give it to you." He made a face at Meng Zhiyao, waving the book in one hand, looking smug and arrogant.
Meng Zhiyao stood up and reached out his hand, which Tang Li raised high. He pulled his hand back, and Tang Li placed the book in front of him again, teasing Meng Zhiyao back and forth like this.
Panting heavily, Meng Zhiyao lunged at Tang Li. Tang Li took a step back, and just as he was about to fall, he instinctively grabbed Meng Zhiyao's outstretched hand, but Meng Zhiyao grabbed the book instead.
With a tearing sound, the book was torn in two as Tang Li fell to the ground.
