Chapter 22 Renovation

After dealing with the important matter, Wang Feifei remembered that she hadn't applied her medicine yet.

Although she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt to cover the wound, there were already faint traces of blood seeping out.

Working outdoors in the high temperatures caused tissue fluid to seep from the wound, mixing with blood and forming a light red stain on the sleeve.

Now she has no choice but to go out and buy clothes and medicine.

The mention of medicine made her realize that she had overlooked a crucial resource: medicine!

Tonight I need to organize all the medicines I need for the apocalypse: cold medicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, fever reducers, topical medications, frostbite medicine, various vitamins, etc...

Wang Feifei drove to a pharmacy supermarket with a wide selection of medicines. She took the opportunity to photograph all her daily medications and planned to organize them when she got home that evening.

After buying the medicine, taking a shower, and changing into clean clothes, Wang Feifei went to a large supermarket to buy some daily necessities.

She officially moved into the safe house today. The renovations aren't finished yet, so she needs to figure out how to make herself more comfortable.

Especially the folding bathtub. Even with the fastest renovation, it still takes a few days. In the summer, you're covered in sweat every day, and you'll feel nauseous if you don't shower for a day. You'll have to rely on it until the renovation is finished.

She also bought a lot of fruit, snacks, instant noodles, self-heating hot pot, and rice...

The unfinished building is in the middle of nowhere, so you can't even order takeout; you have to rely on yourself for food.

While browsing in the supermarket, Wang Feifei saw a warehouse door that looked remarkably like the supermarket in her previous life, which reminded her of Chen Nian.

It has been almost 10 days since we last parted ways. I wonder if he has started preparing supplies.

"Should we drive over and go see him?"

Wang Feifei parked her car near the entrance of Chen Nian's supermarket, but dared not get out and could only look around from inside the car.

She checked the time: "At this time, he should be helping out at the supermarket."

Just then, Chen Nian's figure suddenly appeared in the distance. He was pulling goods at the door, and he was as sunny and bright as ever.

Wang Feifei took out her phone and sent a message to Chen Nian:

Hey! Long time no see, what have you been up to?

Chen Nian heard his phone vibrate, stopped what he was doing, stood next to the goods, and took out his phone.

He stared at it for a good ten seconds. Then he found a beer crate by the door, sat on it, and started typing intently:

"I'm fine. How about you? What have you been up to lately?"

Chen Nian had so much to say, but he didn't know how to express it, so after many revisions, it turned into a simple greeting.

"I'm busy stockpiling supplies, what about you?"

"Yes, I've started too. I've secretly set up another space in the supermarket without my dad knowing."

"Will we... ever see each other again?"

Wang Feifei was relieved to see that he was also preparing.

"Let's go out for a late-night snack together after we're done with this busy period, okay?"

"Okay, I'll wait for your message!"

Chen Nian smiled, put his phone in his pocket, got up, walked to the goods, and continued pushing the goods into the supermarket.

As Wang Feifei watched Chen Nian disappear from sight, she silently prayed, "Chen Nian, you must be alright."

After leaving the supermarket, Wang Feifei wanted to find a place to eat, but worried about revealing her whereabouts, she finally decided to pack food and eat at home.

When she returned home carrying large and small bags, the renovation team had almost finished their work and was packing up to leave.

The project manager in charge of the renovation, surnamed Fang, was a middle-aged man with sharp eyes and dark skin. He was covered in sweat after a long day of work, but he was very polite in his speech.

Seeing that he was about to leave, Wang Feifei quickly grabbed him and asked about the progress:

"Master Fang, how long do you think it will take to finish renovating my house? Can it be completed sooner?"

Master Fang pondered for a moment:

"Basic water and electricity work can be completed in about 3 days. It might be difficult to speed it up."

"The renovation process is a series of interconnected steps. For example, the plumbing and electrical work must be completed before the masonry work can begin, followed by the carpentry work, and so on..."

Master Fang scratched his head: "But there's a way to deal with your situation. Since there are many floors, we might be able to send multiple teams up together."

He looked at Wang Feifei apologetically: "It's just the labor cost, I estimate it will be quite expensive."

Her eyes lit up when she realized it could actually increase speed.

"You mean, since each floor has a different construction schedule, we can arrange for multiple teams of workers to be on site?"

"Yes, that's the only way. I'll call the bricklayers and carpenters over tomorrow, and I'll coordinate everything."

"By the way, you can start purchasing tiles, light fixtures, and bathroom hardware tomorrow. Get them delivered and placed on-site as soon as possible so I can finish building the bathroom for you. That way, it will be more convenient for you to live here."

After finalizing the plan, the construction team left quickly, leaving only Wang Feifei on site.

She carried her food and took the elevator, hoping to find a clean room downstairs to eat.

When I took the elevator down to the 26th floor, I found it was pitch black. All the windows had been sealed off to keep the room warm.

The space is completely enclosed, and the air seems to have stopped. I wonder how long it will take for the smell to dissipate if I eat here. I'd better go somewhere else.

However, this trip reminded her that a fresh air system is still essential.

Wang Feifei returned to the 28th floor, found a window seat, and set up a small table.

At this moment, the warm light of the setting sun streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a cozy hue over the entire space.

She gazed out the window at the lush, green countryside. In just 21 days, it would turn into a world of ice and snow.

We should savor this rare green view...
