Chapter 89 Feng Xinran, the directionally challenged girl

"Turn right ahead, yes, turn left after that building!" Feng Xinran gave Chen Yu directions.

Zhongyang City Garrison Command is a very special military base, a military stronghold, the kind that isn't even shown on maps. Before the natural disaster, Chen Yu didn't want to arouse suspicion, so he didn't know the location of the garrison command and could only let Feng Xinran lead the way.

Following the route indicated by Feng Xinran, Chen Yu sped away in his sled.

Three minutes later, Chen Yu said impatiently, "Can you even find the way?"

By this time, they had been circling around this area for almost an hour, but they hadn't even seen a garrison. It was a shame that Feng Xinran still had the nerve to say that she grew up in a military compound.

"I... The snow is so heavy now, many landmarks are buried under the snow, it's completely different from before!" Feng Xinran explained somewhat aggrievedly. Chen Yu was anxious, but she was even more anxious than him, after all, this concerned her father's life and fortune.

"I'm giving you one last chance. If you can't find the address, we'll turn back!" Chen Yu said firmly.

Upon hearing this, Feng Xinran felt a chill run down her spine. She quickly adjusted her mindset and tried to calm herself down.

She closed her eyes and began to recall her childhood memories of the military compound, trying to piece together the correct route to the garrison area from those scattered fragments.

A moment later, Feng Xinran opened her eyes, a determined glint in them. She pointed to a snow-covered hill not far ahead and said, "That's Cuifenggang. The Zhongyang Garrison Command is right behind Cuifenggang."

Seeing Feng Xinran's confident expression, Chen Yu nodded, stepped on the gas, and the sled sped off again.

Chen Yu's sled was a modified version of his old M-Hunter, which was powerful and could easily traverse a small hill, even in the snow where the snow was 2 meters deep.

Soon, the sled came to a stop on the top of the hill.

Looking at the vast expanse of white below the mountain, Chen Yu's face darkened: "Where is the military camp?"

Feng Xinran lowered her head and remained silent, biting her lower lip lightly, like a child who had made a mistake.

"Fine, I won't make things difficult for you. Let's go home. It's not like we're going to rescue my dad!" Chen Yu said, preparing to turn the car around.

"No, we can't go! I'm sure I can find a way!" Feng Xinran said urgently.

"Sir, why don't we give her another chance?" Lin Lele, sitting in the back row, also began to plead for Feng Xinran.

Feng Xinran was surprised that Lin Lele, who had always been at odds with her, would stand up for her at this moment, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. She turned to look at Lin Lele, her eyes filled with gratitude.

"Don't look at me like that. I just don't want to give up on the mission," Lin Lele said, pouting.

"Alright, I'll give you one last chance," Chen Yu said calmly.

Feng Xinran nodded vigorously, took a deep breath, and tried to recover from her previous sense of defeat.

Then, she opened the car door and stood on the hill, facing the biting wind and snow, gazing into the distance. This time she observed very carefully because she knew this was her last chance.

Suddenly, her eyes narrowed, and she pointed to a spot, shouting to Chen Yu in the car, "There, let's go there!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Yu looked in the direction Feng Xinran pointed and saw a small house covered in snow standing alone in the mountain valley.

"Are you kidding me? Your garrison only has one small house?" Chen Yu's tone was very dissatisfied, and he made a move to turn around.

Upon seeing this, Feng Xinran quickly got into the car and anxiously explained to Chen Yu, "No, Chen Yu, I know the owner of that house. We can ask him to find out exactly where the garrison area is."

Hearing Feng Xinran's explanation, Chen Yu frowned and looked at her with some doubt. But seeing her anxious yet determined eyes, he finally decided to believe her one more time.

“Alright, I’ll trust you one more time, but remember, this is your last chance.” Chen Yu said, starting the sled and speeding down the hill toward the little house.

As the sled slowly approached, the outline of the small house covered in snow gradually came into view. Feng Xinran sat in the passenger seat, nervously watching the road ahead. Her heart was pounding with anxiety, afraid that she might mistake it for something else.

Finally, the sled stopped in front of the little house. Feng Xinran immediately jumped off, walked quickly to the door, and knocked.

A moment later, the curtains of a nearby window were drawn back, and an elderly man with a wrinkled face, wearing a thick military cotton-padded coat, stood by the window. He looked at Feng Xinran and Chen Yu inside the sled with suspicion and wariness, and asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"

Feng Xinran immediately recognized the old man. She took off her face mask and smiled, "Uncle Zhang, it's me, Feng Xinran."

The old man squinted and looked closely for a moment, then a delighted smile gradually appeared on his face: "Oh my, it's Xinran! I almost didn't recognize her after all these years. With everything so chaotic outside, what are you doing here? Come in, come in!"

He was about to open the door for Feng Xinran when he said that.

Feng Xinran was overjoyed, knowing that Uncle Zhang had recognized her, and quickly said, "No need to trouble yourself, Uncle Zhang, we need to go to the garrison area to find my father. But I can't find the way, so I wanted to ask you for directions."

Upon hearing this, Uncle Zhang's expression immediately turned serious. He glanced at the snowstorm outside, then at Feng Xinran's anxious expression, and said in a deep voice, "Xinran, these are special times. The garrison area is under strict management, and you don't usually live here. Many of the new recruits don't even know you, so getting in won't be easy. Besides, the snowstorm is so heavy, and the roads are difficult to travel. Why don't you wait here for a while, and I'll personally take you there when the weather calms down?"

"Uncle Zhang, we really don't have time. My dad... he might be in danger!" Feng Xinran said urgently, her eyes filled with worry.

"What? Commander Feng, he..." Uncle Zhang was shocked.

He then asked with a serious expression, "Where did you get this information from?"

Upon hearing this, Feng Xinran subconsciously glanced at Chen Yu inside the sled, and then said, "You don't need to worry about the source of this information. You just need to tell me the direction of the military camp. I can handle the rest myself."

Although Feng Xinran did not mention Chen Yu aloud, he had already made a judgment based on her subconscious actions.

He looked at Chen Yu, a scrutinizing glint in his eyes, but quickly regained his composure.

"Alright, since Commander Feng has something to attend to, I naturally can't just sit idly by. Please wait a moment while I pack up and go with you." After saying this, Uncle Zhang ignored Feng Xinran and the others' reactions and turned to go inside to pack.

Feng Xinran sighed and glanced at Chen Yu.

However, Chen Yu did not make a statement.

Despite her anxiety, Feng Xinran could only wait silently.
