Chapter 90 Zhongyang Garrison District

A short while later, Uncle Zhang finished packing his things and came out of the house. He was wearing a thick military overcoat and a military cap, and he looked energetic, as if he had returned to his youth.

"Uncle Zhang, thank you so much," Feng Xinran said gratefully.

"No trouble at all. Commander Feng has been kind to me, so his business is my business." Uncle Zhang waved his hand, indicating that there was no need to worry about it.

The two quickly boarded the sled, and this time, Uncle Zhang sat in the passenger seat. After all, compared to Feng Xinran, Chen Yu trusted this old man he had just met even less.

Under Zhang Bo's command, the sleds crossed two small hills, and soon a large military camp came into view of Chen Yu and the others.

"So the military camp is actually this close to us," Feng Xinran murmured somewhat embarrassedly.

"Hehe, it's not surprising that you can't find the way. A while ago, the military camp was preparing to build an airport, and they leveled several hillsides," Uncle Zhang explained.

"I knew it!" Feng Xinran felt much relieved after hearing Uncle Zhang's explanation.

"Halt!" Just then, several soldiers dressed in snow combat uniforms and carrying rifles appeared out of nowhere and suddenly rushed up to block the snowmobile's path.

"Military restricted area, stop here!" a soldier shouted in a deep voice.

Upon seeing this, Uncle Zhang quickly lowered the window of the sled, stuck his head out, and shouted to the soldiers, "Young men, we're looking for Commander Feng."

"Looking for Commander Feng?" The soldiers exchanged glances. One of them stepped forward, carefully scrutinizing Zhang Bo and Feng Xinran and Chen Yu inside the car, before asking, "Which unit are you from? Do you have any identification?"

As soon as he finished asking the question, a soldier next to him pulled him aside and whispered in his ear, "This man is Zhang Tao. He was a company commander in our garrison area. He's a veteran of decades and has been living in the nearby mountains since he retired."

The others had obviously heard of Uncle Zhang, and they all saluted him in unison, saying, "Greetings, old company commander!"

Zhang Tao naturally returned the gesture.

"Old Company Commander, although you are a respected senior, the rules cannot be broken. Please show us your identification." The leading soldier said sternly.

“I understand, I understand, but we’re not here on official business. We just want to talk to Commander Feng about some personal matters,” Zhang Tao said.

"I am Feng Xinran, and Feng Zhengyang is my father!" Feng Xinran poked her head out and revealed her identity to the soldiers.

Upon hearing this, the soldiers exchanged glances. They had heard that Commander Feng had a daughter, but they didn't know her name or had never seen her. Although Zhang Tao could testify, it was a special time, and it wouldn't be proper to just bring her in like that.

Seeing the soldiers still hesitating, Feng Xinran said urgently, "My dad is in danger..."

"Ahem~" Before Feng Xinran could finish speaking, Zhang Tao coughed heavily, interrupting her. "Young men, with a natural disaster like this, Xinran is only worried about her father's safety. Please understand."

At the same time, he gave Feng Xinran a wink.

Feng Xinran immediately understood. Yes, she had only heard about Deputy Commander Liang's rebellion from Chen Yu, and it was hard to say whether it was credible. If she were to reveal it now and it turned out to be a misunderstanding, the impact would be too great.

Thinking about this, she felt a wave of fear. Fortunately, Zhang Tao reminded her in time, otherwise she would have caused a great disaster!

Upon hearing this, the leading soldier pondered for a moment and said to Feng Xinran and Zhang Tao, "Wait a moment, we need to ask our superiors for instructions first."

Feng Xinran nodded. They were already at the garrison area, so there was no rush. Besides, judging from the soldiers' expressions, her father should be alright. Thinking of this, Feng Xinran breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, she looked at Chen Yu with some suspicion. Was she being tricked by Chen Yu?

Chen Yu looked into the distance and made no attempt to explain to Feng Xinran.

The lead soldier turned and quickly walked to the side, pulled a walkie-talkie from his pocket, and began reporting the current situation to his superiors. It must be said, the equipment in the garrison area is of excellent quality; even in temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius, their walkie-talkies were still functional.

Feng Xinran and Zhang Tao sat inside the sled, waiting patiently.

Soon, a response came from the other end of the walkie-talkie. After listening carefully, the soldier turned around, his expression softening considerably.

"Ms. Feng, former company commander, your identities have been confirmed by the higher-ups, and you are permitted to enter. Please follow me." The leading soldier politely gestured for them to pass.

Feng Xinran and Zhang Tao exchanged a smile, their tense feelings finally easing.

However, at this moment, Chen Yu suddenly unlocked the car door and said to the two of them, "You two go on your own. Lele and I won't go with you."

Upon hearing this, Lin Lele immediately became anxious: "No way! I've never been inside a military camp of our Great Xia before! We've come all this way, let's go in and broaden our horizons!"

Chen Yu glared at her, and Lin Lele immediately shut up.

"Chen Yu, are you hiding something?" Feng Xinran questioned. It was Chen Yu who said her father was in danger, but now that they've arrived at the military region's gate, Chen Yu isn't going in. What else could this be but a guilty conscience?

"Hehe, think what you want," Chen Yu said with a faint smile.

He never intended to enter the military camp with Feng Xinran. He was joking; he didn't even know what kind of personality Feng Zhengyang had. If he just followed her in, wouldn't he become a fish on a chopping block, at the mercy of others?

Moreover, Feng Xinran is too responsible as a police officer. What if he has a moment of madness and tells Feng Zhengyang about his "misdeeds" so that Feng Zhengyang will arrest him?
