Final Battle
To save Yunshuo, Yuheng and he entered the final dungeon. Here, there are no rules, only a cold and indifferent administrator - the embodiment of the system.
"Are you going to give up everyone for one person?" asked the administrator.
"I'm doing this for him and for all the people you've toyed with." Yu Heng answered firmly.
He proposed a final deal: to become the new administrator in exchange for the freedom of Yunshuo and all the trapped people.
The administrator agreed, but put forward a cruel condition: "To become the administrator, all memories of you and him must be erased."
Yuheng did not hesitate. He signed the contract and was granted full authority over the system.
The first thing he did was to collapse all the copies, releasing countless trapped souls.
Finally, he came to the lighthouse of the Lightless City and found the silver ring engraved with their names. He put the silver ring on his hand and whispered, "I will send you home, even if I no longer remember you."
Yun Shuo is finally resurrected and returns to the real world. He remembers everything, but can no longer find Yu Heng.
He returned to the overpass where they met and waited for a long time in the rain.
At the same time, the new administrator and Heng were in the core of the system, looking at the silver ring that was repeatedly magnified on the screen, and an inexplicable throbbing surged in their hearts.
He didn't remember Yun Shuo, but he remembered that he had to protect this world.
At the end of the story, Yun Shuo smiled in the rain, firmly believing that Yu Heng must still be protecting him somewhere.
The embers are still burning
After the end, the world returned to peace.
Yun Shuo returned to reality with all his memories, but he could no longer find Yu Heng. He returned to the overpass where they had met and called out Yu Heng's name over and over in the rain, his voice drowned out by the sound of the rain.
At the core of the system, the new administrator, He Heng, has lost his memory but is constantly drawn to a silver ring engraved with an unfamiliar name. Whenever he tries to remove the ring, an inexplicable pain wells up in his heart.
In search of the truth, Yun Shuo once again stepped into a rift, only to discover that all copies had been closed, leaving only a pure white "archive." This place records everyone's story, except Yu Heng's.
Just when he was in despair, a familiar hand gently rested on his shoulder from behind.
"Why...are you crying?"
Yun Shuo turned around suddenly and saw Yu Heng, but found that his eyes were as unfamiliar as when they first met.
"My name is Yuheng, and I'm the administrator here." He introduced himself calmly, then pointed at the silver ring in Yunshuo's hand. "Where did you get this ring?"
Yun Shuo trembled as he recounted their story. Although Yu Heng had no memory of it, his chest ached with every detail he heard.
He finally admitted: "I don't know who you are, but the knife in my chest seems to have always been there."
He made a decision: "I can give you a chance. In seven days, the rift will open briefly, and you can enter the core and find me. But the price is, if you fail, you will forget me, and I will forget our story."
"Deal." Yun Shuo agreed without hesitation.
Seven days later, Yun Shuo entered the core.
There is only one mirror here, and in it are the reflections of all their memories. To awaken Yuheng, he must find himself in the reflection.
Yunshuo began to tell their story, and the reflection in the mirror gradually became clearer. Just as Yuheng was about to uncover the truth, the system issued a warning: "Illegal interference detected, initiating the removal process."
In order to protect Yun Shuo, Yu Heng pushed him back to the real world, while he stayed in the core and all traces related to Yun Shuo were cleared.
Yun Shuo lost him again.
However, fate did not completely close the door.
A few days later, a strange young man appeared in Yunshuo's city. He had no memory, but he always felt that the rain in this city was very familiar.
In an inadvertent moment, he saw Yun Shuo, and the silver ring on his chest suddenly became hot.
"Have we... met before?"
Yun Shuo turned around, tears welling in his eyes, but he smiled and said, "Maybe. Would you like to get to know me from the beginning?"
The story stops here, but their fate seems to have new possibilities.
The rain stopped and the sun shone through the clouds onto the two of them.
"Have we... met before?" asked the strange young man.
Yun Shuo looked at him with tears in his eyes, but smiled and said, "Maybe. Would you like to get to know me from the beginning?"
The young man nodded and stretched out his hand: "Hello, my name is——"
He paused. In this world, it seemed that his name had not yet been reassigned.
Yun Shuo held his hand and said, "It's okay. You can take your time to find the name."
They walked side by side in the familiar city, and every corner could trigger sparks of memories.
They passed a small shop, the wind chimes in the window tinkling softly in the breeze. The young man stopped, his expression confused and painful.
"Are you okay?" Yun Shuo asked with concern.
"It's okay," he shook his head, "I just feel that this voice... seems to remind me of something."
They came to the river again, and Yun Shuo offered to teach him how to fold a paper boat. When the paper boat was placed in the water, a vague fragment of "Paper City" flashed through the young man's mind, and he subconsciously mentioned the promise.
"Three seconds."
Yun Shuo was stunned. This word, which only the two of them knew, came from the mouth of a "stranger", which made him shocked and heartbroken.
"What did you just say?"
"I... don't know." The young man looked at his hands in confusion.
Yun Shuo took a deep breath and decided not to push him any further. He just said softly, "Let's go home."
Back in Yunshuo's small apartment, the young man saw the familiar books on the bookshelf and the photo of the Miao village they had taken together on the wall.
"I've been here," he blurted out. "There's a... museum there."
Yun Shuo couldn't hold it back any longer, tears welling up in his eyes. "Yes, you have been there. We built it together."
He turned around and took out a small box from the drawer. When he opened it, he found the silver ring engraved with their names.
When the young man saw the ring, his chest heaved violently, and countless fragments of memories collided in his mind.
"Clouds... and..." he murmured, as if groping for the door handle in the dark.
Yun Shuo didn't rush him, but simply placed the ring in his palm: "No rush, we have a lifetime."
At this moment, a tiny crack flashed in the sky outside the window.
On the other side of the world, in the core of the system, a cold backup program was quietly activated.
【Backup: Administrator-First Edition】
[Status: Repair in Progress]
【Estimated completion time: 7 days】
And in a corner of the city, a mysterious dark shadow was watching them, with an elusive smile on his lips.
"The game isn't over yet."
