Rong Family Old House —
After spending a day together, Gu Chu discovered that the Rong family members were all very kind, especially towards her, and took great care of her.
Lunch was also different from what Gu Chu had expected. There were no delicacies, just some home-style dishes. There was no formality of "not speaking while eating or sleeping" at the table. Everyone ate and chatted, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.
In the afternoon, Rong's mother took Gu Chu to the mall and insisted on buying her some clothes and jewelry. Gu Chu couldn't refuse and had to accept them all, thinking she would find an opportunity to return them to Rong Shi.
As evening fell, the Rong family warmly invited the two to stay at the Rong family's old house.
After dinner, Rong's mother said to Rong Shi, "Xi Zhi, you haven't shown Chu Chu your room yet, have you? Go and take a look, it's already been decorated."
Rong Shi looked at Gu Chu and, seeing that Gu Chu did not refuse, he got up and pulled Gu Chu to the other courtyard.
Upon arriving at the villa, Rong Shi released Gu Chu's hand: "I'm sorry, I didn't expect Grandpa to force us to stay."
Gu Chu smiled slightly: "It's okay, I expected it. Didn't you say that Grandpa is very shrewd? I think Mom and Dad are even more cunning."
Suddenly realizing something, she said awkwardly, "Sorry, I've just gotten used to calling you that all day."
Rong Shi pushed open the door: "It's okay, we're already husband and wife in the law."
Gu Chu was stunned when she saw the room's layout.
The room was decorated exactly like an ancient wedding room. On the large bed, a festive red quilt was decorated with the four characters "早生贵子" (May you have a son soon) made of four kinds of dried fruits: red dates, peanuts, longans, and lotus seeds.
Rong Shi explained, "This is a surprise that Grandpa prepared after you and Mom went shopping."
Gu Chu snapped out of her daze and gave Rong Shi a cold look: "This is shock!"
Rong Shi touched his nose guiltily.
Gu Chu sat on the edge of the bed and casually grabbed a handful of red dates to eat. She hadn't dared to eat a second bowl of food for dinner, mainly because she was afraid of the Rong family's enthusiasm. Everyone was asking Rong Shi to serve her food, which made her feel awkward.
"Don't tell me we're going to sleep in the same bed tonight?"
Rong Shi said, "This is a kang (heated brick bed)."
Upon hearing this, Gu Chu became excited, got up, squatted on the ground, lifted the bed sheet, and began to examine it.
"This is a heated kang bed! Won't the fire underneath steam you alive?"
Seeing her curious expression, Rong Shi couldn't help but smile and say, "You can try it in a bit."
When Gu Chu saw Rong Shi smile, she was suddenly drawn to his smile.
This was the first time Gu Chu had seen Rong Shixiao.
His smile reveals two canine teeth, giving off a warm feeling.
Seeing Gu Chu staring at him, Rong Shi immediately stopped smiling and resumed his serious expression.
Gu Chu snapped out of her daze, her gaze darting around: "Why isn't there a sofa in the room?"
“It used to be, but…” Rong Shi said, only halfway through his sentence.
Gu Chu had an idea.
"I understand, this is a test of our acting skills!"
Gu Chu looked around again: "Is the soundproofing in your house not very good?"
Rong Shi truthfully replied, "The main courtyard is alright, but this place is a bit lacking."
Gu Chu: "I understand."
Rong Shi added, "There is heating equipment in the main courtyard, so I usually stay there when I come back."
"You don't need to explain, I know and I understand. Anyway, it's just for one night, and air conditioning is nice." Gu Chu comforted herself.
Rong Shi asked, "Do you need to wash up? I'll have someone prepare it."
"Okay!" Gu Chu nodded.
After leaving, Gu Chu took out her phone and called Su Wan.
"Wanwan, are you asleep?"
"I am Shen Baiyan." Shen Baiyan looked at Su Wan, who was fast asleep on the RV bed.
Upon hearing Shen Baiyan's voice, Gu Chu immediately realized something: "Where's Wanwan?"
Shen Baiyan replied truthfully, "She is asleep."
"You..." Gu Chu hesitated, unable to finish her sentence.
Finally, he instructed, "Take good care of her."
Gu Chu hung up the phone after speaking.
Shen Baiyan planned to take Su Wan abroad for medical treatment. He had already booked the first class cabin of an airplane and even found a motorhome to take her to the airport for her comfort.
When Gu Chu came out of the shower, her phone rang again. She answered it when she saw it was Wu Yanran calling.
Wu Yanran asked immediately, "Chuchu, why is your phone off, little girl?"
Gu Chu said, "She should be asleep."
Wu Yanran asked in confusion, "Aren't you two together?"
Gu Chu explained, "I had to go on a long trip, it's been almost half a month. Is your show finished recording yet?"
"Okay, I just got off the plane. I was hoping to get together with you guys tomorrow." Wu Yanran said, sounding a little disappointed.
"Find Wanwan, she has time."
"Okay, then I won't bother you anymore, bye!"
After hanging up the phone, Rong Shi came in wearing pajamas.
"You go to sleep first, I'll take care of some work."
Gu Chu lay down, but her gaze fell on Rong Shi.
Today she saw several other sides of Rong Shi.
From personality to facial expressions to clothing.
When Rong Shi is with his family, his imposing aura disappears, and his usual coldness becomes taciturn. Although he speaks little, he will take the initiative to speak, and he will answer all his family's questions.
He laughs when talking about happy things, he is focused when talking about work, he is serious when doing things, and he is gentle when talking to his family.
At this moment, he was wearing a set of gray flannel pajamas. The soft loungewear on his body instantly changed his temperament. The aloof and cold steel man was gone, replaced by a 'good family man'.
Rong Shi walked to the side, sat down in a chair, took out his phone, and saw several missed calls. He dialed them back.
"What's up?"
