Chapter 4: Can you see through things?

Han Ming was delighted to receive a pair of high-tech glasses and, in high spirits, decided to test them further to see if they had any other functions.

At that moment, he suddenly remembered a novel he had read online before, in which the protagonist accidentally obtained a pair of magical eyes with X-ray vision and the ability to read other people's thoughts.

Han Ming wasn't particularly interested in reading other people's thoughts; what interested him was X-ray vision. The moment this wicked idea arose in his heart, he was eager to try it out.

The glasses seemed to sense Han Ming's thoughts, and a reminder flashed across the screen.

"Visual penetration function activated, removing a large number of obstructions, with a line of sight range of 10 meters."

Han Ming was overjoyed because he had seen through it.

The image in his eyes clearly told him that he could actually see through the workshop walls to the pomegranate trees outside and several old, scrapped machine tools placed by the wall.

The workshop walls seemed to have become a thin sheet of glass, not obstructing Han Ming's view at all.

Han Ming wanted to see what was outside the factory wall, but his glasses switched to a 20-meter field of vision, allowing him to see through the wall and into the weeds in the wasteland outside.

That's amazing! That's incredible! I stopped thinking about X-ray vision, and the glasses immediately returned to normal mode, except for the night vision assist function that automatically turned on.

Han Ming had truly obtained a treasure, and his excitement was beyond words.

He used his chin to hold the case containing the glasses, and with the help of the glasses' night vision function, he easily climbed down from the overhead rack.

He grabbed his glasses case and ran outside excitedly.

Although he had obtained a good item, Han Ming did not forget to carefully lock the workshop door properly.

To prevent thieves from stealing the equipment and raw materials inside.

Han Ming left the workshop and walked to the gatehouse. He looked inside and saw Old Fan sitting in front of a small color TV, watching the opera channel with great interest.

He was clapping his hands and swaying his head, humming along to the tune on TV.

This Old Fan was a doorman relative of my father's; in terms of seniority, Han Ming had to call him Grandpa Fan.

Because he was an old bachelor with no children or spouse, his old house was on the verge of collapse.

Seeing that he was about to have nowhere to go, Han Ming's father took pity on him and, since the factory happened to need a doorman, called him over.

Old Fan was quite willing and happy to be assigned to guard the factory.

He was a typical person who only cared about himself and had no family to worry about. The roof of his old house was almost collapsing, so he wouldn't complain about the factory gatekeeper's room and bedroom, which was only one and a half square meters.

In addition, Han Ming's father treated him well, so he had no worries about food and clothing and earned more than a thousand yuan a month, which made him quite happy.

Despite the recent turmoil, Old Fan, who is related to the family, has remained steadfast in his stance, neither causing a scene nor making a fuss, and continues to obediently guard the gate.

A few days ago, some cunning young men in the factory tried to steal some raw materials in the middle of the night to sell.

He was chased and beaten by the quick-witted old Fan in the middle of the night with a large broom.

Old Fan, though old, was shrewd. Sensing someone watching him, he turned around and saw Han Ming, and couldn't help but ask in surprise:

"Oh, it's Xiaoming. Are you here or leaving?"

Han Ming called out "Uncle Fan" and then left.

Old Fan said again:

"I thought you left a long time ago. You've been staying here since early morning. You haven't eaten all day, have you? Go to the street and get something to eat, don't starve."

Han Ming turned around, smiled, responded, and walked outside.

Han Ming walked for a while. This was a section of road connecting the industrial zone on the west side of the town to the town center. It was neither long nor short.

However, Han Ming's father's small factory was too small to be located in a tiny spot at the very back of the industrial zone.

"With night vision, there's no difference between night and day, which takes away a lot of the fun!"

Han Ming walked along, looking at the streetlights and thinking.

Just as this thought popped into my head, a line of text flashed across my glasses.

"Visual assistance is off. It will be activated on demand next time. If you want it to be activated automatically, please go to the settings center to reset it."

Suddenly, everything went dark. Han Ming was caught off guard and nearly tripped and fell.

There's even a settings center! It seems these glasses have many more functions waiting for me to explore. Han Ming steadied himself as he pondered this.

Seeing that walking around half-heartedly wasn't a good idea, Han Ming decided to focus on getting on his way.

Fortunately, his home on the south side of town wasn't far away, and given his anxious mood, he half-walked and half-ran, finally arriving at his doorstep in about half an hour.

Looking at the windows of my neighbors' houses, which let in light, and then looking at my own dark, two-story house in front of me.

Han Ming, who was excited about gaining magical eyes along the way and temporarily forgot about his current family crisis, also became depressed.

My parents are both in the hospital, and my grandparents passed away early. This big house has become unusually quiet lately.

After opening the door and entering the house, Han Ming, who had been sitting in the factory workshop all day, looked up at the wall clock and saw that it was already past 10 p.m. He then realized that he was starving.

He went to the kitchen and quickly made himself a bowl of noodles to satisfy his hunger, which had been neglected by Han Ming all day.

Seeing that he was covered in dirt, Han Ming, who was usually quite clean, didn't even wash the dishes and went to the bathroom to clean himself up first.

After cleaning up and washing the bowls, Han Ming comfortably went into his room.

Han Ming had planned to call the hospital to inquire about the situation, but seeing that it was getting late and his parents were probably resting, he decided not to bother them.
