Chapter 76 His Childhood
Mu Yuan's expression and tone were filled with anxiety.
When meeting Zhao Xitao's gaze.
She only then realized that she had lost her composure.
Her eyelashes drooped slightly, and her expression was unnatural: "Sorry, I..."
Zhao Xitao chuckled, covering the issue for her, and continued, "Amin, likewise, didn't get the fatherly love he desired. When he was little, he picked up a ginger cat. It happened to be midterm exams soon after, and his ranking dropped a few places. Then, when he came home from school, he found the ginger cat's head and body separated and hanging in the back garden. It stayed there until the next exam, when he got first place again. Only then was the cat's body allowed to be disposed of."
Mu Yuan clenched her fingers suddenly, her joints turned blue and white from the excessive force, and her fingertips were about to penetrate into the flesh.
Zhao Xitao looked at her pale face and asked worriedly: "Are you okay?"
She felt it was cruel just to imagine it, and her voice was hoarse: "How old was he at that time?"
Zhao Xitao sighed: "Probably third grade."
"He used to long for fatherly love, so he tried his best to learn calligraphy and piano, whatever his uncle asked him to learn. But later he found out that the teachers who taught him calligraphy and piano were all direct relatives of his uncle who wanted to curry favor with the powerful. In fact, his uncle didn't care how well he learned. He just used him to find an excuse to charge high tuition fees and actually give money to the powerful. So when he won first place in the calligraphy competition and surpassed the calligraphy teacher's son, he didn't get praise, but a slap in the face. So later he saw through his uncle's true nature and no longer desired so-called fatherly love. But I'm telling you, my uncle is really a bad person, extremely bad. That's why there are no photos of him in the family. It's probably because they hate him so much."
Mu Yuan had a lot of anger accumulated in her heart, which made her chest ache, but she had nowhere to vent it.
"Initially, Ah Min was reluctant to inherit the Huo family. He didn't want to be involved in anything related to his uncle anymore. But there was no other way. He was the only son of the Huo family and had to inherit. Of course, he could have been willful for once, but he didn't. That's why I say he's contradictory. People with contradictions can never live a happy life."
Zhao Xitao took a deep breath, as if to shed off these old emotions, and a faint smile appeared on his elegant face: "But now that he has met you, I think everything will be fine. He will eventually shed the shadow of his childhood."
Mu Yuan didn't respond because he felt guilty.
It won't get better. This marriage is fake. When the time comes, she will have to withdraw from his world.
Zhao Xitao seemed to be able to see through her heart. He chuckled and said solemnly: "Sister-in-law, he really likes you. I can see it."
Mu Yuan was confused.
How could he think that Huo Min liked her very much?
Guangguang caught his first fish in his life and was jumping for joy.
I watched it jump closer and closer to the river.
The next second, Huo Min hugged him back and scolded him calmly, "I just told you not to step on the stone steps at the edge, did you forget?"
Guangguang didn't listen and was so excited: "Yeah! I caught a fish! I caught a fish!"
A helpless smile appeared on Huo Min's cold face.
It seems like a blessing that comes as a wish.
He glanced sideways.
I bumped into Mu Yuan.
This time, Mu Yuan didn't hide, but looked at him straight.
Huo Min's eyebrows paused slightly, his eyes darkened, and he walked over with Guangguang in his arms.
When Guang Guang saw Zhao Xitao, he jumped up and tried to get out of Huo Min's arms: "Daddy, daddy!"
As soon as Huo Min put him down, he rushed into Zhao Xitao's arms.
Zhao Xitao smiled lovingly and hugged him: "Wow, our Guangguang is really amazing! He actually caught a big fish!"
Huo Min glanced at Zhao Xitao coldly and said indifferently, "What did you talk about with her?"
Zhao Xitao tilted Guangguang upwards and said deliberately, "You're interfering in my small talk with my sister-in-law. Aren't you meddling too much?"
Huo Min looked at him with increasingly cold eyes.
Zhao Xitao made a face in his heart, but he said honestly: "It's just a casual chat. If you don't believe me, ask my sister-in-law."
Huo Min lowered his eyes and looked at Mu Yuan.
She was still staring at him, her pure almond-shaped eyes filled with many emotions that he couldn't understand.
Her silence made Huo Min feel unusual.
But soon, Mu Yuan agreed: "It's just chatting."
Huo Min raised an eyebrow and looked at her, but in the end he didn't say anything else. His tone softened a bit: "Shall I ask someone to get the fishing rod for you?"
Mu Yuan shook her head lightly: "No, I'm a little tired."
Huo Min's brows knitted together instantly, his expression worried: "Are your eyes uncomfortable?"
Mu Yuan paused, her eyes moving across his features, which had become increasingly darker due to worry, and she said in a clear voice, "No, I'm not feeling unwell."
Huo Min stared at her for a few seconds, and only felt relieved when he was sure that he didn't see any discomfort on her face.
He said softly, "If you're tired, go back to the villa and rest. I'll take you back."
Mu Yuan said softly: "No need, you can continue fishing with Guangguang, I can go back by myself."
Huo Min insisted: "I'll come back after I send you off."
Mu Yuan knew that since he had spoken, he would always stick to his point, so she stopped being stubborn.
Because it's useless.
As soon as she got on the sightseeing bus, the empty seat next to her was immediately taken by Huo Min who was following her.
There were clearly seats available in the two rows in front and behind, but he insisted on squeezing in with her.
Mu Yuan was too lazy to say anything and just let him go.
She quietly watched the scenery along the way turn into a quick shadow, just like her thoughts in her heart.
But she couldn't concentrate on thinking because, out of the corner of her eye, his gaze was fiery and direct.
She turned her eyes away.
I saw the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and there was a sparkling light in his eyes.
They stared at each other in silence for a long time, without any awkwardness, until the sightseeing bus stopped.
Mu Yuan lowered her eyelashes and got out of the car from her side.
Huo Min could have gone down the right side, but he chose to take one more step and go to her side.
Mu Yuan raised her eyes to look at him. He had a superior figure and looked dignified and cool in a suit. Now he was wearing an all-black sportswear, looking tall and handsome.
She subconsciously compared herself to Gu Chenyi, who also loved wearing sportswear.
Obviously, Huo Min is more outstanding.
"What's wrong?" Seeing that she was staring at him inexplicably, Huo Min's voice was warm and magnetic.
She had been staring at him without knowing what was going on.
Of course, he really enjoyed being looked at by her.
But this was indeed strange. After all, she had never stared at him so directly before. It had always been like this: he chased, she hid. This change must have happened.
Did Zhao Xitao just say some nonsense to her?
A hint of sternness flashed across Huo Min's eyes, but his tone remained calm and gentle: "Come in."
Mu Yuan didn't move, her eyelashes like butterfly wings blinked again and again: "You can go back now."
Hearing her intention to drive him away, Huo Min's eyes froze, and he said helplessly: "Do you hate being alone with me so much?"
Mu Yuan's eyelashes fluttered, and she stammered, "That's not what I meant."
Huo Min didn't force her. He curved his lips and smiled, his smile as gentle as the breeze: "Have a good rest. If you need anything, just call me directly."
After he finished speaking, he thought about her shy behavior and gave her a second option: "Press 1 on the landline next to the TV to contact the service desk."
Mu Yuan's almond-shaped eyes paused slightly and she nodded.
"I'm leaving."
He gave her one last glance before looking away and walking towards the sightseeing bus.
But, I didn't take many steps.
Then I heard hurried footsteps coming from behind.
Huo Min raised his brows and turned around.
She ran over.
Beneath her long lashes, her eyes, once as cold as glass dipped in frost, now shimmered with a shimmering snowy light. She was walking so fast, a little breathless. "It's not that I hate being alone with you. I just want you to enjoy your own vacation. After all, you're usually... very busy, so you don't need to worry too much about me. You should enjoy your freedom."
Like finishing a steep climb.
At this moment, Huo Min's heartbeat was abnormally fast.
