Chapter 21 The Heroic Deeds of Rosie

Qi Erlang huddled up like a quail, afraid of being noticed by Luo Xi, and quickly darted into the basement.

Seeing this, the others stopped talking and obediently lined up to squeeze themselves in.

"That's more like it." Luo Xi strolled to the door: "Is everyone here?"

"Let me make this clear first: if I see anyone still outside later, they're as good as dead."

The chieftain's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly counted the number of people. There were indeed some who were missing; they were the guards who were watching over the wives of the bandits.

"Ninth Floor Master, there are a few more. I'll send someone to fetch them."

Rose nodded good-naturedly.

A little while later, everyone had arrived.

Rosie deftly closed the door, bolted it, thought for a moment, then moved the large rock from a short distance away and placed it on top of the door with a clatter.

Whether they can come out alive depends on themselves.

Now, it's that time of year again when she's so busy collecting stuff that her hands are sore. But when Luo Xi came out of the basement, she saw a group of young women standing close together in the open space, looking at her timidly.

Tsk, I almost forgot about these people.

"What, you really want to stay and be the bandit's wife? Why aren't you running away?" she said.

The young ladies looked at each other, and after a while, seeing that Luo Xi really had no intention of making things difficult for them, they all burst into tears of joy.

Then, from afar, they bowed to Luo Xi and happily went down the mountain together.

After everyone left, Luo Xi began to loot supplies, taking everything she could, including things from the basement, tables, benches, and even door panels.

So when the leader finally managed to get out of the basement after a lot of effort, he was completely dumbfounded.

"Qi Erlang, this, this, this is really our mountain stronghold?"

Qi Erlang: "Did we take the wrong turn?"

He nodded seriously: "Brother, look, the road leading out of our underground parking garage is paved with tiles, but here, it's still a dirt road."

"Master Qi, this is our mountain stronghold," one of the bandits said weakly. "The muddy road is because the paving stones have been worn away."

"What? This can't be?" Qi Erlang rushed forward, his mouth agape in disbelief. "It really is our mountain stronghold, but, but, this..."

"Where's our door? Where are the roof tiles? How come even the walls are gone?"

"Could it be... that Ninth Floor Master?" one of the bandits speculated.

"No way," another robber said. "What kind of place is the Red Mansion? It makes a fortune every day. How could it possibly care about our stuff?"

"It must be her," the leader said with certainty. "She's the one who took our grain."

"Everyone says that the author of Dream of the Red Chamber has an unpredictable temperament; who knows if he's gone crazy today?"

Jiuxian, who was on his way, suddenly sneezed, and a glint of light flashed in his deep eyes.

Qi Erlang, feeling ashamed, didn't dare to lift his head: "I'm sorry, brother, I shouldn't have tricked her into coming to the mountain stronghold."

The bandit leader's wife was robbed after being captured; their bandit stronghold was probably the first of its kind in the Tianqi Dynasty.

This is incredibly embarrassing.

The leader's face was also extremely ugly.

"From now on, no one is allowed to take women up the mountain, especially pretty women," he announced fiercely.

From now on, I'll never look at pretty young women again; they're all liars.

"..."

"Yes, Boss!"

What happened next was unknown to Rosie.

She's busy preparing to infiltrate the next mountain stronghold.

With so many bandits, it would be a waste of such a large space if we didn't rob them.

Luo Xi found a set of commoner's clothes to change into, and then, every time she was robbed by various bandits, she was super happy about it.

However, the bandits were never so happy with the outcome each time.

Who could be happy if their wife, whom they had kidnapped, was taken away?

Oh, there really is one, and that's Qi Erlang. He's no longer the only bandit who captured the owner of the Red Mansion and got scolded by the chief.

As one mountain stronghold after another fell into misfortune, some of the most vicious even having their entire families wiped out, Luo Xi's heroic deeds spread throughout the entire county.

The people spread the news excitedly, overjoyed, as if it were New Year's Day.

“I used to think the Dream of the Red Chamber was scary, but I never imagined they would do good deeds. I’ve decided that I will never let them scare my grandson again,” an elderly woman with a missing tooth exclaimed.

"Yes, that's good. These thieves have been scared off by the Red Mansion. My son and daughter-in-law can go hunting and foraging for wild vegetables in peace for a while. My family was almost out of food." The old lady in black looked worried.

The old lady with the missing tooth sighed, "My family is in a similar situation. This damned heaven just won't send rain. We were planning to go and visit relatives in the spring, but there are too many bandits on the road, so we have to give up."

"Now that's good, the wicked have been frightened by the even more wicked. We should take this opportunity to leave, lest they come out and rob us again in a while."

The old woman in black was incredibly envious, but they had a large family and no relatives to rely on. Alas, they could only leave it to fate.

She didn't know when the emperor would discover the situation here. She wasn't expecting any grain or silver to be distributed; she just hoped that the court would reduce taxes and corvée labor.

Otherwise, with famine, heavy taxes and forced labor, and the occasional appearance of bandits and thieves, what way would they have to survive?

She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with a sorrowful expression.

In a guesthouse in the county town, a family of four, who had been trapped there for more than a month, embraced and wept.

"Daddy, can we go home now? Yan'er misses Grandpa and Grandma." The three or four-year-old boy looked at his father pitifully and asked.

His father reached out and ruffled his hair, laughing as he said, "Yes, you can leave here now."

Before the bandits could react, we quickly left, hoping there wouldn't be so many vicious bandits elsewhere.

He turned and gazed tenderly at his graceful daughter and dignified, virtuous wife.

They are his treasures; what would happen if they were captured by bandits?

He had heard that none of the women who were taken away had a good ending.

"Father, is the Master of the Red Chamber a great hero, the kind who fights bad guys?" the little boy asked again in his childish voice.

"..." The father was stunned, unsure how to answer: "...Yes, yes, right? They beat up bad guys this time."

But he can hardly be considered a great hero.

"That's amazing!" The little boy's eyes sparkled. "I heard that the owner of the Red Mansion is a woman. Daddy, would you marry her and make her Yan'er's mother?"

That way he can have two mothers, one to make clothes for him and the other to help him fight bad guys. He's really clever.

Father: "..." He really is his own son.

"My wife, please let me explain..."

The various praises and expressions of gratitude for the Dream of the Red Chamber were thus passed down to Jiuxian and his companions by the people below.

Qinglong laughed directly: "OP, this guy is really bold."

"To impersonate you again and again, it seems you've had enough of living."

The white tiger beside him rubbed his hands together, saying, "She's just a little woman. You don't even need to lift a finger, Master. I can take care of her all by myself."

Jiuxian's face, hidden behind a mask, made his expression unreadable.
