Because guests had come to the house, the brothers gave up their rooms. The five of them squeezed onto one kang (a heated brick bed). Zhou, the eldest brother, went to the door and peeked through a crack. He found the five boys sprawled out, fast asleep. It seemed that harvesting rice yesterday had really exhausted them.
Well, let them sleep a little longer. It's fine to work harder tomorrow.
So he turned around and prepared to wake his wife up, but when he reached the door, he saw Zhao Guihua come out of the room by herself. They stared at each other for a moment and were stunned.
"What's wrong?" Zhao Guihua asked, puzzled.
"Nothing, I just came to wake you up."
"Oh, I'm going to wash up. After breakfast, I need to dry the rice. Judging from the clouds, it shouldn't rain these next couple of days. I need to take advantage of the good weather to dry the rice properly." Zhao Guihua looked up and squinted at the sky.
As the two were talking, they heard a noise at the door. They looked and saw that Zhu Lin and the others had returned. They were dressed neatly in white, and there was not a drop of sweat on their foreheads. They did not look like they had been up the mountain at all.
If you ignore the various small prey they were carrying, each of the seven people was carrying something; five of them were carrying various small prey, while only Zhu Chumo and Zhu Lin were carrying a small bundle of herbs.
As soon as they entered the yard, they threw their things in a corner and went to wash their hands.
"So many rabbits and pheasants, and this one looks like a silly spore, or a sheep. What kind of prey is this?" Zhao Guihua asked in surprise. So the masters went to the mountains to have a hunting competition?
"Raise those that can be raised, and kill those that can't be raised for meat," Zhu Qiuyu said with a light laugh.
"Okay, let's take care of these wild animals. You guys go eat first. The food is ready and you can eat soon."
Zhao Guihua wasn't in a hurry to wash up. She put the wild rabbits she could raise into the rabbit shed, and plucked the feathers from the wings of the pheasants to prevent them from flying away. She also tied their feet with ropes to prevent them from jumping away.
The guys who were just sleeping soundly with their mouths watering woke up, dressed, and rushed out to see their prey, their eyes wide with surprise.
"Twenty rabbits, sixteen pheasants, and a few other small game I can't name. Tsk tsk, that's amazing! More than I catch in a day!" Zhou Erfu shouted loudly.
Zhou Sanfu scoffed, "Second Brother, don't brag. You couldn't catch this many prey in two days."
Zhou Erfu disagreed, "I am one person, and they have many people. If I had the strength of seven people, I would definitely not be worse than them." He might not be able to compare in other aspects, but Zhou Erfu felt that he still had an advantage in hunting.
After breakfast, Zhou Laoda suggested going to the old house to treat Zhou Dafa's illness, but Zhao Guihua didn't want to go; she preferred to dry the grain.
Fu Ge and the others didn't like to go either, so in the end only Zhou Laoda went by himself. So he took Zhu Chumo to the old house. When he left, he took two wild rabbits with him. To be honest, the rabbits were all brought back by Zhu Lin and the others, but he took them to give away.
However, Zhu Lin said that the rabbits were from his family and there was no need to be polite. He added that there were still several rabbits left from yesterday, and they couldn't possibly eat so many. It wouldn't matter if he gave two to someone else.
Old Zhou was thinking of sending one over to his nephew to help him recover, but thinking that the two old people would definitely make a fuss, he took an extra one, just in case the two old folks argued with Zhu Chumo and then Zhu Chumo got angry and refused to treat Dafa, which would be a disaster.
Zhu Chumo had no idea what was going on in his mind. He calmly followed Boss Zhou out the door, but suddenly stopped at the gate and looked at Zhou Wufu.
"I don't want to study medicine. Go get the medicine box from my room. You can come with me."
On Friday, Fukuhara didn't want to see the people at the old house, but since his fourth master had spoken, he didn't hesitate and quickly ran into Zhu Chumo's room to bring out his medicine box.
After walking for a quarter of an hour, they arrived at the old house. The gate was closed, and they didn't hear any voices inside. Zhou Laoda didn't think much of it and raised his hand to knock on the door.
Someone answered quickly. Chen Caocao raised her voice and asked who was outside. Judging from her tone, she wouldn't open the door if the person was looking for someone else.
Zhou Laoda responded, and Chen Caocao quickly opened the door. "Brother, it's you! Come in quickly, I'm brewing medicine."
Zhou Laoda led Zhu Chumo and Zhou Wufu into the courtyard. Chen Caocao invited them to sit down and offered to make them tea, but Zhou Laoda declined, knowing that Zhu Chumo would not want to linger and that they shouldn't waste time.
"Second sister-in-law, you don't need to bother. Dafa is inside. I brought a renowned doctor with me. Let him take a look at Dafa."
Chen Caocao quickly caught the key words "miracle doctor". She secretly sized up Zhu Chumo and thought he was young and handsome. Could such a cool and handsome young man really be a miracle doctor?
Although she had her doubts, she couldn't refuse her brother's kindness since he had brought her here. Besides, Dafa was already in such a state, so she might as well try anything, even if it was just a blind stumble.
Chen Caocao had given up hope for her son's illness and seemed to have accepted the fact that her son would become disabled. She was already heartbroken, but she did not show it on her face.
"Where are the others?" Boss Zhou asked casually.
"Who knows? They won't tell us if something's wrong. The child's father went to town again early this morning." Zhou Lao Er goes to the dock to set up a stall selling pancakes and steamed buns. He got medicine yesterday, and he's run out of money.
On the other side, Xingxing was overjoyed with a bunch of beautiful wildflowers. Zhu Lin had picked them for her early in the morning and they were so fragrant and pretty that she loved them.
After finishing their meal, she took Zhu Lin's hand, wanting to take him for a stroll in the village. "Our village has three streams, over a hundred big banyan trees, and more than thirty little children. Nobody here keeps dogs except us. It's a pity that Xiao Hei and Xiao Hui had puppies, so they can't come back with us for now..."
