"Mom, are you alright?" Xingxing stayed outside and didn't go in. She was too young, and she was afraid that if she went in, she would hold her back, so she waited outside.
"It's okay, it's almost dawn, let's hurry back and catch up on some sleep. This is just endless." She hadn't slept all night, and now she was exhausted and just wanted to go back and get a good night's sleep.
"Mother, don't worry, Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cui won't die. The medicine you gave them will work." Seeing the worry on her face, Xingxing seemed to know what she was worried about and quickly comforted her.
"That's good. Now that Xingxing has said that, I feel much more confident." Zhao Guihua smiled and picked Xingxing up.
"Mom, put me down quickly. Xingxing is heavy. You sprained your ankle. Don't carry me anymore. What if it gets worse?" Xingxing struggled to get down. Perhaps because she hadn't rested all night, or perhaps because her foot really hurt, Zhao Guihua didn't have much strength. Xingxing easily broke free.
When the family got home, they didn't even bother to wash up before going to their rooms to catch up on sleep. Zhao Guihua didn't go back to Zhou Laoda's room, but went to Xingxing's room, where she hugged her daughter and fell asleep immediately.
In the following days, Zhao Guihua brewed medicine and delivered it to Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cui every day. The two men's injuries improved considerably the day after drinking the medicine. Knowing that the medicine Zhao Guihua brought was indeed effective, they no longer resisted drinking it.
After all, nothing is more important than life. In the current situation, it's impossible to find a doctor. If it weren't for Zhao Guihua having medicine at home, who knows what would have happened to them.
Seeing that Zhou Laosan and his wife's injuries had healed by half, Zhao Guihua brought the prepared medicine to the Zhou family and told them, "You can boil one packet of this medicine a day. Come and get more when you finish it. My eldest son and I are going to start harvesting rice, so we don't have time to boil the medicine for you. Boil it yourselves."
“We were injured by your Erfu. You don’t want to pay us back, and now you’re not even willing to make medicine for us. You wish! You have to take good care of us. As long as we’re not better, you have to make medicine for us every day,” Zhou Laosan said matter-of-factly.
“You attacked me first, so you deserved to be injured. My Erfu acted in self-defense and did nothing wrong. I haven’t settled this score with you yet. Don’t push your luck. I’ve left these medicines here. Take them or leave them. If you keep nagging, I won’t give you another dose of medicine.”
They're the kind of people who take an inch and then a mile; she won't tolerate that.
"Sister-in-law, why do you have so many wound medicines at home?" Zhou Laosan asked with a suspicious look.
Zhao Guihua sneered, "Mind your own business, you're nobody."
