Chapter 88 The village chief confronts Master Song.

Before long, the village chief, holding Xingxing's hand, led the two children into the main hall, where Master Song politely invited the village chief to sit down.

The village chief shook his head slightly and said calmly, "There's no need for me to sit. I've come here to discuss something with Master Song. I'll leave once I've finished."

Seeing his reaction, Master Song didn't press the matter. He turned his gaze to Xingxing and quickly recognized the little girl. However, upon seeing the injury on her face, he understood that the person who had the conflict with his daughter was Zhou Xingxing.

"I remember you. Your name is Zhou Xingxing. Your home is just a little in front of the Song residence." Master Song greeted Xingxing kindly. He had a deep impression of Xingxing, mainly because the child was good-looking and extremely likable.

Xingxing pursed her lips, stared at Master Song for a while, and only after confirming that he meant no harm did she raise her voice in a seemingly helpless manner: "My house was built first, and your Song family's house was built later. It should be that the Song family's house is a little behind my house."

After emphasizing the priorities, Xingxing said angrily, "Master Song, you broke your promise and didn't keep your word. Last time you clearly promised me that when you moved to our village, you wouldn't bully us, but your granddaughter brought several servants to bully me." She was a bad person, and Xingxing cursed the last sentence in her heart.

"How dare you speak to our master like that! And that is our Eighth Miss, our master's daughter, not his granddaughter..." The steward shouted sternly from the side, but was stopped halfway through his sentence by Master Song.

"Alright, Steward Zhao, you can leave now. This is none of your business."

The first part, asking the steward to tell them Song Jiao's identity, was naturally necessary. The rest was unnecessary; he didn't want the village chief to misunderstand. Since he intended to befriend them, he naturally wanted to have a proper conversation with them.

Butler Zhao dared not contradict his master, and bowed his head respectfully as he withdrew.

"So that Song Jiao is Master Song's daughter? Master Song, has your daughter ever been to school? Why does she like to curse and hit people? Today she cursed at me, and I cursed back. Then she even tried to hit me. I'm not someone who can be hit by just anyone. What happened today was your daughter's fault, Master Song, don't you think?" Xingxing tilted her little head up, almost putting her hands on her hips to question him.

Before Master Song could speak, the village chief chimed in, “Although we are all farmers and our status is not as high as that of Miss Song, Xingxing is still the Zhou family’s precious darling. Her parents and brothers dote on her like the apple of their eye. Once her family finds out what happened today, they certainly won’t let it go easily.”

Xingxing stared at Master Song and spoke again: "Don't think you can use your status to intimidate us. We are not easy to bully."

"Village chief, and this little girl Xingxing, please don't misunderstand. I already know what happened today. It was indeed my daughter's fault for being ignorant and for not disciplining her properly... I will bring her to apologize later. I hope you will forgive her this time because of her young age." Master Song's attitude was sincere, and no one could find any fault with him.

The village chief had no choice but to say nothing more. Since the matter had been resolved, he bid farewell to Master Song.

Xingxing naturally wanted to go with the village chief, but before leaving, she solemnly said to Master Song, "You are an adult, you must keep your word. As the saying goes, a gentleman's word is as good as his bond. You can no longer be two-faced, even more fickle than the old men and women in our village. It is wrong to be a person like that."

Master Song almost lost his smile. This little girl was sharp-tongued and quite cunning, no less so than his daughter. If the Zhou family were a wealthy family, the little girl would probably be even more formidable.
