It was precisely because Tie Qingfeng never told a lie that Song Jiao was even angrier. She was the youngest daughter of Master Song, who had become a grandfather ten years ago. His eldest grandson was two years older than his youngest daughter.
Despite being young in age, Song Jiao held a high position in the Song family. Everyone in the family doted on her and spoiled her. It could be said that she had lived a very smooth life from birth until now. Today, she was suddenly outshone by someone else, which was a huge blow to her.
"Prettier than me, huh? I'll beat the other side of her face badly too." Song Jiao pulled out a whip from somewhere and was about to hit Xingxing's face.
"Wow, this person is so mean, she actually wants to smash Xingxing's face." Xingxing had a premonition, and before Song Jiao could pull out the whip, she darted away like an arrow, only stopping to take a look when she had maintained a safe distance.
"You petty brat, you naughty kid, you're such a nuisance. You can't hit me. Tomorrow you'll have scabs all over your face. When my second and fourth brothers come back, they'll definitely teach you a lesson. You just wait." Xingxing finished her tirade in a flash and ran off.
She rushed to the village chief's house, where the village chief was teaching Qiuqiu and Chunchun to read.
"Uncle Village Chief, Uncle Village Chief, Xingxing has something very important to tell you." Xingxing was panting as she ran, her little face flushed.
"Why are you running so fast? Sit down and rest for a bit," the village chief said, pressing Xingxing down on a small stool. He then instructed his eldest daughter, "Qiuqiu, go and pour a bowl of water for Xingxing to drink."
Qiuqiu put down the book, got up and went to the main room. After a short while, she brought back a bowl of water. "Xingxing, drink some water and calm down. Don't rush, talk slowly."
Xingxing was indeed very thirsty. She took the bowl and gulped down the water in one go, then let out a cute sigh.
The village chief suppressed a laugh and asked, "Alright, what is it? You can tell me now."
"Uncle Village Chief, Master Song has moved to our village with his family, and he brought a lot of people with him..." Xingxing told the village chief everything about how Song Jiao had bullied Zhou Dayin and her.
"That wicked young lady from the Song family even tried to hurt Xingxing's face. Luckily, Xingxing ran fast, or she would have been in big trouble." Xingxing's little face was extremely serious, and her usually watery eyes were almost spitting fire.
"Oh? Is that really true?" The village chief's expression hardened slightly. The wealthy man Song seemed easy to get along with, with a kind face. He had even paid the villagers a high wage when he built the house. However, just because the wealthy man Song was of good character did not mean that his family members were of good character.
The Song family had only been here for five days, and they were already getting restless, starting to act arrogantly and bully the villagers.
That won't do. Luckily, Master Song seems to be a reasonable person. Otherwise, he should go and talk to Master Song about it.
"Qiuqiu, you watch over Chunchun and Xingxing. I'm going to the Song residence." The village chief said, getting up to leave.
"I want to go too! Uncle Village Chief, Xingxing will go with you. Last time, Master Song promised me something, but he didn't keep his promise. I want to go and ask him what happened." Xingxing grabbed the village chief's clothes, as if he wouldn't let go until he agreed.
The village chief pondered for a moment, then picked up Xingxing and carried her outside, instructing his two daughters, "You two sisters stay home and don't go out. Lock the door securely."
Qiuqiu and Chunchun obediently agreed, "We know, Dad. Don't worry, we won't run around or open the door for strangers."
At the Song residence, Song Jiao was nestled in Master Song's arms, throwing a tantrum and crying as she complained, "Father, you must help Jiao Jiao get revenge! That disfigured peasant girl not only angered me, but also cursed me. Didn't you see that one side of her face is covered in scabs and looks awful? Yet she still dared to call Jiao Jiao ugly! Father, Jiao Jiao won't stand for it! You must teach her a lesson for Jiao Jiao!"
He had just asked Tie Qingfeng, and from Tie Qingfeng, Master Song learned the whole story. Today's events were actually caused by his precious daughter. First, she grabbed a young boy and tried to take Fengzi back to his house, and then she stopped a passing girl.
This child has indeed been spoiled and is quite unruly. When he first came to Yegou Village to build a house, he made an agreement with the village chief that the Song family should not make enemies with the villagers of Yegou Village, and that neither the masters nor the servants of the Song family should do anything to oppress the villagers.
“Jiaojiao, you are already nine years old. In two more years you will be a young lady. You can no longer be as willful as before. You need to control your temper. How can you do things that involve bullying others?” Master Song patiently instructed his daughter.
Song Jiao couldn't listen to any of that right away. All she wanted now was for Master Song to stand up for her, preferably to immediately lead her servants to that wretched girl's house and make her whole family come kneeling down to apologize and beg for mercy.
Normally, Master Song doesn't concern himself with matters of the inner quarters, and his children are disciplined by his wife. When his youngest daughter throws tantrums at the servants at home, he doesn't pay much attention to it. But now that she's out, he's noticed that his daughter's temperament seems to have gone a bit astray. If this continues, he's afraid it will cause trouble, and she'll be deeply influenced by this temperament after she gets married.
Realizing the seriousness of the matter, Master Song was just about to teach his daughter a lesson and try to correct her bad temper when the gatekeeper came to report.
"Sir, there's a villager outside who says he's looking for you. He says he's the village chief of Yegou Village."
They arrived quite quickly. Master Song straightened his expression and had his servant invite the person in.
"Someone, take Miss Eight away." Master Song summoned the wet nurse and ordered her to take Song Jiao back to her room.
"Dad, no, you haven't agreed to stand up for me yet," Song Jiao said, throwing a tantrum.
"Go downstairs. Father has important business to attend to. Jiaojiao, you mustn't be unreasonable." Although Master Song usually appears to be good-tempered, once he frowns, no one in the manor dares to misbehave.
Song Jiao, too, was willful but dared not anger her father, so she could only obediently leave.
