Chapter 28 Seclusion

Ye Wenxue looked at the person running down below and thought to herself that it was someone she knew.

As she looked at the three wild boars, she replied to Sanyuan, "Raising them isn't really feasible. If you want to eat meat, I can try catching one."

Adult wild boars are not easy to raise; they are strong and reckless, and not easily controlled.

Moreover, there are five children in the family.

If anything were to happen, there would be no place to regret it.

Sanyuan nodded and said "Mmm".

At this moment, Ye Wenxue noticed that one of the wild boars was limping on its hind legs, as if it were injured.

Seeing that the person being chased was fleeing in panic towards the tree where the two had landed, Ye Wenxue carefully placed Sanyuan on the tree:

"Hold on tight, I'm going to lure the wild boar away, wait for me to come back."

Sanyuan hugged the tree trunk and responded firmly.

For the sake of wild boar, for the sake of pork cracklings, for the sake of eating meat, he cannot be afraid!

Ye Wenxue climbed down the tree, picked up the wood-chopping knife that was lying to the side, and quickly ran to the side away from the tree where Sanyuan had landed, calling out loudly:

"This way! Bro, run this way!"

Before the people who were fleeing in all directions could even react to who was shouting, their feet, very honestly, turned around and ran away.

After skillfully maneuvering around a few trees to temporarily evade the fangs' attack, he immediately spotted Ye Wenxue waving at him.

The guy who got scammed once: "......"

He instinctively clutched the cloth bag at his waist.

Ye Wenxue clicked her tongue and quickly ran forward with him:

"You generously sold me herbs last time, and I'm indebted to you. This time, I have to help you out. Come on, follow me this way."

However, this person looks weak and powerless, but he is actually quite strong. He was surrounded and chased by three wild boars and was still fine. He is amazing.

The man was furious. What did he mean by "selling you herbs"?

It was clearly you who forced me to buy and sell this!

That's what he said, but when he turned around and saw the fangs right behind him, he decided to believe her.

At least... he did escape the hunter's trap last time by relying on the vines left by this person.

Yesterday, when Ye Wenxue went back and forth looking for wet mud, she thoroughly explored the area and roughly knew which places were safe and which places had pits.

She led the man on a frantic run, specifically targeting places with traps.

They even had the audacity to ask, "Didn't you just fall into a pit a few days ago? How come you've provoked a wild boar again today?"

The man remained silent, refusing to utter a single word.

Well, looks like he's still angry.

Ye Wenxue stopped trying to make conversation and quickly climbed up a high spot to steady herself.

Give me your hand.

The man was wondering how to get up there when he heard this and raised one hand.

Ye Wenxue grabbed his hand and pulled him up forcefully, just in time to avoid the attack of the wild boar's tusks from behind.

A wild boar was running too fast and couldn't stop in time, crashing heavily into a rock wall, its not-so-fat body stiffening for a moment.

Seizing the opportunity, Ye Wenxue grabbed her tattered wood-chopping knife and jumped down again.

The man panicked and quickly climbed to the edge to look down.

Fortunately, the other two wild boars hadn't come over yet, so Ye Wenxue wasn't in danger when she jumped down.

She picked up the knife handle and brought it down hard along the wound on the wild boar's head. The wild boar died without even making a sound.

The man glanced anxiously at the woods and called out, "Two more wild boars are coming! Come on up!"

Ye Wenxue nimbly jumped onto the vines, then flipped onto the tree trunk, and in a few moments flew back to the high ground.

The other two wild boars arrived a little later, surrounding the first one and grunting and howling incessantly, blocking its path and refusing to leave.

The man, still breathing heavily, thanked Ye Wenxue for saving him, saying, "Su Jiu, thank you for today."

He silently thought to himself: As for what happened last time, he wouldn't hold it against this person.

Ye Wenxue lay on the edge looking at the wild boar below. She didn't listen carefully to what he said, gave a random reply, and then looked up and smiled at him.

Su Jiu immediately became alert.

He always felt that this person's smile was malicious.

"Brother, you look thin and weak, you can't carry a wild boar. Besides, I killed the boar... Why don't you just give it up?"

Ye Wenxue's words were very sincere.

Su Jiu's expression was blank. He knew this man's smile was never a good thing, but...

"You were the one who dealt with this wild boar, so you can do whatever you want with it. If it weren't for your help, I'm afraid I would be dead. Consider it a favor I owe you."

Ye Wenxue's eyes lit up; this person really knows what he's doing!

"How did you provoke them? You had wild boar piglets in your pocket?" Her gaze fell on the cloth bag that Su Jiu was clutching tightly.

Su Jiu shook his head: "When I went to collect herbs, I accidentally entered a wild boar's den."

I never expected the wild boar to react so strongly and become so frantic; it chased him for miles.

If it weren't for the constant exercise he gets from collecting herbs, he probably would have lost an arm or a leg.

The two men kept a wary eye on the wild boar lingering under the tree and exchanged a few words.

Ye Wenxue, concerned about the three creatures in the tree, felt a little anxious: "Don't move here, I'll go kill them!"

"No!" Su Jiu quickly stopped him. "Wild boars can be difficult to deal with when they go berserk. We should wait a little longer."

Ye Wenxue frowned.

On second thought, she realized that with Sanyuan, the best she could do was carry a wild boar back to the valley.

Rather than killing the wild boar now and letting others benefit, it's better to save it for later when there's no more meat to eat, and then hunt for it again.

After thinking it through, Ye Wenxue decided to rest for a while.

Carrying the wild boar back to the valley later will be hard and tiring work.

She glanced at the person rummaging through the cloth bag:
