Chapter 45 Something Happened

Ye Wenxue wiped the sweat from her brow, sat on the roof beam, and gazed at the dim, setting sun, feeling utterly exhausted and powerless.

"Don't take your child to the lake these next few days, and be careful yourself. I almost ran into some strangers when I went to the lake today."

Sui Ye's arrogant voice came from beside my ear.

Ye Wenxue stretched her stiff neck: "The drought is severe now. This is probably the only major water source in the surrounding mountains. The hunters and villagers in the mountains need water every day, so we should try to avoid it."

Sui Ye raised an eyebrow; he didn't think those people were ordinary citizens.

His violent aura made it no wonder he was a murderer.

However, as long as they don't provoke him, he can't be bothered with them.

The next day, Su Jiu took a medical book and decided to take Sanyuan to identify herbs.

They even brought along geese as guards.

Sanyuan nodded and said "Mmm".

Su Jiu was unhappy that Ye Wenxue was treating him like a child and giving him such earnest instructions, but he also knew that she was worrying too much, so he listened to her and, after leaving the valley, did not go to the lakeside, but instead went to the residence full of herbs.

He went back a few days ago and didn't find anything unusual. It was probably just a false alarm.

Su Jiu thought to himself.

Ye Wenxue had been busy all day and only had time to rest when it was almost dark. When she heard Dazhuang say in a panic that Su Jiu and Sanyuan had not returned yet, she didn't react for a moment.

"None of them are back? Where's the goose?"

Dazhuang shook his head solemnly: "Mother, Mr. Su's residence is only an hour away from the valley. He hasn't returned yet, so something must have happened to him."

Ye Wenxue's expression changed slightly. After instructing Suiye to look after the child, she picked up a torch and a wood-chopping knife and headed out of the valley.

Suiye reached out to stop him: "I'll go with you."
