Chapter 859 Black Mist Attacks the Village

"I'll ask you one last time."

Xiao Feng's voice was deep and imposing, like thunder from the heavens, shaking everyone present: "Am I a monster or not?"

His gaze was like a knife, piercing straight into the high priest's eyes, allowing no room for evasion.

The surrounding noise vanished instantly, and everyone held their breath, waiting for the high priest's answer.

Time seemed to slow down dramatically at that moment.

The high priest opened his mouth, but no sound came out; cold sweat poured down his forehead.

"Speak!"

Xiao Feng suddenly jerked his hand, forcing the High Priest to look him directly in the eye: "Weren't you very talkative? Why are you mute now?"

This questioning was like a heavy hammer blow, shattering the high priest's last pretense.

He trembled all over, finally unable to hold on any longer, and collapsed into Xiao Feng's arms.

"I...I..." the high priest stammered, his voice barely audible, "I misspoke...you...you're not a monster..."

Xiao Feng sneered, raised his hand and slapped the high priest across the face. With a crisp crack, the high priest's cheek swelled up instantly.

"Weren't you so capable? Didn't you just call me a monster?"

Xiao Feng grabbed the high priest by the collar and punched him repeatedly in the face.

The high priest was beaten black and blue, with blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

He covered his head with his hands, pleading repeatedly, "Spare me! I was wrong, I was really wrong!"

Xiao Feng snorted coldly, released his grip, and the High Priest immediately collapsed to the ground, curling up like a dead dog.

"Now, tell the truth."

Xiao Feng looked down at the High Priest, his eyes filled with a chilling intent.

The high priest trembled all over, his eyes flickering uncertainly.

He swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he said, "I...I admit it, he's not a monster...I...I was just making things up..."

As he spoke, the high priest secretly glanced at Xiao Feng and, seeing his expressionless face, felt even more apprehensive.

He lowered his head, not daring to meet Xiao Feng's gaze, for fear of incurring another beating.

The surrounding villagers looked at each other in bewilderment and began to discuss among themselves.

After the high priest collapsed to the ground begging for mercy, the crowd erupted in uproar.

The villagers were outraged and surrounded the high priest.

An old woman with a wrinkled face waved her cane, trembling with anger: "You liar! You always pretend to be a respectable person, but all you do is cheat the villagers!"

"That's right! We believed you were genuinely doing what was best for the village, but we never expected you to deceive us!" A burly man waved his fist, his eyes wide with anger.

A chorus of curses erupted from the crowd, and some even picked up stones and threw them at the high priest.

The high priest dodged awkwardly, his face bruised and battered, looking utterly disheveled.

Xiao Feng watched coldly from the sidelines.

"This high priest deserved his fate!"

"Why did you frame me? I have no grudge against you, yet you slander me as a monster. What are your true intentions?"

Right now, Xiao Feng wished he could kill this damned stranger!

The high priest was lifted into the air by Xiao Feng, his legs kicking incessantly, his face turning from blue to white and then to green, looking just like a duck with its neck being pinched.

He stammered, "I...I..."

Xiao Feng narrowed his eyes, a cold glint in them: "Speak! Or I'll make you wish you were dead!"

The high priest was so intimidated by Xiao Feng's aura that he finally broke down.

"I...I talked nonsense because I wanted to prevent people from questioning me..."

These words immediately caused an uproar among the villagers.

"What? You're framing innocent people just to avoid being questioned?"

"We trusted you so much, and it turns out you're this kind of person!"

"Disregarding human life, they are worse than animals!"

The villagers, one after another, expressed their utter contempt for the high priest's actions.

Some people even rushed up to hit him, but Xiao Feng blocked them.

Xiao Feng looked coldly at the High Priest.

He never expected that he would encounter such a despicable and shameless person after coming into this world so inexplicably.

He released his grip, letting the high priest fall to the ground.

The high priest collapsed to the ground, like a dead dog.

The villagers' anger was about to erupt. They swarmed forward and began punching and kicking the high priest.

"Kill this liar!"

"Let him taste our power!"

"Dare to frame an innocent person, you deserve to die!"

Fists rained down on the high priest, who curled up in a ball and let out a shrill scream.

Someone picked up a stone and smashed it on his head; blood gushed out immediately, staining his white hair red.

"Stop!" Xiao Feng shouted sternly, "We can't stoop to the level of such a despicable person!"

But the villagers wouldn't listen and continued to vent their pent-up anger.

The high priest was kicked and rolled on the ground, his clothes tattered and his face bruised and swollen.

"Enough!" Xiao Feng shoved aside several villagers and stood in front of the high priest. "If this continues, people will die!"

The villagers then stopped, panting heavily as they glared at Xiao Feng.

"Young man, don't stop us!" an old man shouted, waving his cane. "This kind of troublemaker should be beaten to death!"

Xiao Feng shook his head: "We should repay evil with kindness and not stoop to his level."

The villagers looked at each other, and gradually calmed down.

The high priest was curled up on the ground groaning, covered in blood and in a sorry state.

Xiao Feng turned and looked down at the High Priest: "Your actions are known to all. From now on, no one will believe you anymore. This is your punishment."

The high priest raised his head, opened his mouth, but could not utter a single word.

The villagers nodded in agreement, expressing their approval of Xiao Feng's decision.

Xiao Feng turned to leave, but suddenly heard a series of hurried footsteps behind him.

He turned around and saw a group of villagers running towards him in a panic, their faces full of fear.

"Something terrible has happened! Something terrible has happened!" an elderly man shouted as he ran.

"What important matter?" someone asked.

"Strange! Strange indeed!" the old man exclaimed breathlessly. "A huge cloud of black fog suddenly appeared in the village, enveloping the entire village!"

These words immediately caused an uproar among the villagers present.

Some people exclaimed in surprise, some discussed among themselves, and some were so frightened that they trembled.

Just then, a thin, haggard-looking middle-aged man squeezed through the crowd and knelt down directly in front of Xiao Feng.

His clothes were patched, his hair was disheveled, and his eyes were full of pleading.

"My lord!" The middle-aged man grabbed Xiao Feng's robe, his voice trembling as he said, "You just saw through the High Priest's deception; you must be a capable person. Please, I beg you, help us!"

Xiao Feng frowned and asked, "What is it?"

"Our village is haunted by evil spirits!" the middle-aged man cried. "As soon as that black mist appeared, people in the village mysteriously disappeared. We're too scared to go back. Please, save us!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the other villagers also knelt down.
