Chapter 858 Sea Demon

"I saw him come out of the sea!" an old woman screamed. "He's the monster!"

“Yes, yes, yes! I saw it too!” a man next to him chimed in, “He must be a sea monster in disguise!”

Xiao Feng frowned, inwardly realizing something was wrong.

He was about to explain when he saw that some people in the crowd had already picked up stones, ready to strike.

"Catch him! Don't let the monster get away!" Someone shouted, instantly causing a huge uproar.

"Kill him! Get rid of this scourge for the people!"

"Monster, get back into the sea!"

Seeing that the situation was getting worse, Xiao Feng knew that no amount of explanation would be of any use.

He sighed inwardly and turned to leave.

Just then, a stone came flying through the air, heading straight for the back of his head.

Xiao Feng reacted quickly, dodging to the side.

But this dodge only confirmed everyone's suspicions.

"Look! He dodged so quickly, he must be a monster!"

"Catch him! Don't let him harm people!"

Seeing that the crowd was getting closer and closer, Xiao Feng dared not linger in the fight and turned around to run away into the distance.

He heard shouts and footsteps behind him, but he couldn't think straight; he just wished he had two more legs.

"What kind of mess is this?!"

As Xiao Feng ran, he thought to himself, "What did I do to deserve this? I just got the Dragon Bamboo, and before I even had a chance to be happy, this happened!"

Xiao Feng stopped and turned to face the pursuing crowd, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.

He took a deep breath and tried to explain, "Gentlemen, please hear me out. I'm really not a bad person."

However, a chorus of boos and angry shouts erupted from the crowd.

A burly man stepped forward, pointed at Xiao Feng's nose, and shouted, "Stop pretending! You came from the sea!"

Cold sweat beaded on Xiao Feng's forehead as he hurriedly explained, "Brother, listen to me. I did come from the sea, but that doesn't mean I'm a monster!"

"Fellow villagers, I'm really not some kind of monster! I'm just an ordinary person, just like you!"

However, someone in the crowd shouted, "Bullshit! We all saw your demonic aura just now!"

“Exactly, exactly!” another person chimed in, “No normal person has that kind of eerie aura.”

Damn it, how can these people be so stupid? They won't listen to any of my explanations.

At this moment, an elderly man in a magnificent robe stepped out from the crowd. He stared at Xiao Feng with his cloudy eyes and slowly said, "I am the high priest of this place, specializing in exorcising evil spirits and demons. I can tell you all definitively that this young man..."

He paused, then suddenly pointed at Xiao Feng and shouted, "I can tell at a glance that you're not human!"

These words immediately caused an uproar among the crowd.

"It really is a monster!"

"If the High Priest has said so, it must be true!"

"Grab him quickly, don't let him get away!"

Xiao Feng nearly fainted from anger upon hearing this.

He glared at the old man who called himself the high priest, thinking to himself, "This old guy is just like those keyboard warriors online! He just spouts nonsense!"

But the situation was critical, and Xiao Feng knew he had to find a way to quell the public's anger.

He took a deep breath and said loudly, "Please let me explain! I am indeed somewhat special, but I am definitely not a monster. I am... I am..."

He had a sudden inspiration and thought of an idea: "I am a cultivator! Yes, I am a cultivator, which is why I have that peculiar aura."

Upon hearing this, the crowd immediately began to murmur amongst themselves.

Some people are skeptical, while others remain doubtful.

The high priest sneered and said, "Nonsense! In all my years, I have never seen a cultivator. You are clearly trying to fool everyone!"

Seeing this, Xiao Feng knew that he couldn't convince these people with just words.

He had a sudden inspiration and decided to use a little trick he had just learned.

With a wave of his hands, a wisp of green smoke rose from his palms, forming a small ball of light in the air.

"Look! This is the magic of cultivators!"

Xiao Feng said loudly, while secretly praying that this little trick would fool these people.

Xiao Feng's little trick seemed to have worked, and a gasp rippled through the crowd. People began to whisper among themselves:

"Is he really a cultivator?"

"I've never seen such magic before!"

"Maybe he really isn't a monster..."

However, just as the crowd's attitude began to waver, a deep voice suddenly rang out: "Ridiculous! This is nothing but a smokescreen!"

The high priest squinted his cloudy eyes, pointed his scepter at Xiao Feng, and shouted, "Folks, don't be fooled by him! I've lived for so many years and seen countless demons and monsters. This kid is clearly a monster, just pretending to be a god!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd began to stir again.

Seeing this, the high priest continued to incite, "Think about it, if he really is some kind of cultivator, why has he never shown himself before? Why is he hiding in our village? He must be trying to blend into the crowd and do evil!"

Xiao Feng was so angry that his face turned red when he heard these distorted and untrue statements.

He glared at the high priest and shouted angrily, "What nonsense are you spouting, you old bastard? When did I hide in the village? I've only been here a short time!"

The high priest sneered and continued to incite: "See! This monster is enraged! Folks, let's arrest him quickly to prevent him from harming the innocent!"

Xiao Feng could no longer hold back.

His eyes blazed with fury as he lunged at the high priest, raising his hand to deliver a powerful punch that slammed into the wrinkled old face.

With a loud thud, the high priest collapsed to the ground, blood gushing from his nose.

Xiao Feng stood before the High Priest, looking down at him coldly, and said, "You old codger, spouting nonsense, today I'll teach you what respect is!"

After saying that, Xiao Feng kicked the high priest in the stomach again.

The high priest curled up in agony, emitting cries of pain.

The surrounding crowd was stunned by what they saw.

Someone cried out in terror, "My God! He struck the high priest!"

Xiao Feng glanced around, his anger still simmering: "I'll say it one last time, I'm not a monster! I don't want to hurt anyone, I just want to cultivate in peace. But if anyone dares to frame me, I will not be polite!"

The crowd fell silent; some began to back away, while others hesitated.

"A monster is killing people! Help!"

The high priest clutched his chest, his face deathly pale, his eyes wide with terror.

He staggered back a few steps and fell to the ground with a thud, his hand pointing at Xiao Feng trembling uncontrollably.

"Everyone, please save the High Priest!"

"This monster is too ferocious; it didn't even spare the high priest!"

"Oh my god, what should we do?"

Discussions rose and fell, and panic spread rapidly among the crowd.

Xiao Feng watched all this coldly, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.

He strode forward, grabbed the high priest by the collar, and lifted him up.
