Chapter 91 Hazard Assessment
Omegas who have just finished their feverish period are still in a weak state. They need plenty of rest and the company of Alphas to feel safe and secure.
An interrogator observed Pei Wu discreetly.
This Omega has not shown any fear since he entered. His mind is astonishingly clear. When he lowers his head to wipe his glasses, the Omega's eyelashes droop, and the scattered light and shadows condense on the bridge of his nose, making him look calm, indifferent, and noble.
Three hours later, Pei Wu's statement remained unchanged. In the last half hour, he even took the initiative, hoping that the Alpha Association would not only focus on the danger level of top-level pheromones, but also take into account Lu Xiwen's contributions to public welfare and society over the years.
“No one will surrender when their life is threatened. It’s completely unfair to convict someone simply because their top-notch response is powerful and intense.” Pei Wu said calmly. “I trust your company’s decision. We shouldn’t have to go to the point of a head-on lawsuit.”
"He even threatened people," an Alpha thought.
Cases involving top-tier organizations do attract significant public attention, posing a huge challenge to the association's authority once they begin. More importantly, other top organizations around the world will use these cases to judge their own standing.
Previously, the country of K, which is close to the Arctic, used very tough methods to drive a top-tier Alpha to a dead end. While the local association was still showing off its powerful suppression methods, it was suppressed by this top-tier Alpha that very night and wiped out.
It is said that the injured Alpha pulled from the association headquarters filled about five pickup trucks. This top-tier entity was a giant polar bear, who forcefully broke through various checkpoints and left the K country for good.
Extremely tragic losses.
"Mr. Pei, the investigation into you is complete." An Alpha stood up and shook hands with him: "Thank you for your cooperation, you've worked hard."
"You're welcome." Pei Wu knew these people were tight-lipped, so she didn't exchange many pleasantries.
However, just as he stepped outside, the Alpha received a phone call. After listening to a couple of sentences, his expression changed slightly, and he caught up with Pei Wu, saying, "Mr. Pei, please wait a moment."
Pei Wu frowned: "What's wrong?"
The other person's expression was warm and friendly. "You'll find out in a moment."
Pei Wu rode in the car for another five minutes before being taken to a white office building.
Everything here is rigid and exudes a cold, rigid legal atmosphere.
Pei Wu felt dizzy from the sunlight and moved to the shade of a tree.
It's been almost six days, and I still don't know how Lu Xiwen is doing. Has the wound on his wrist healed?
A strange noise came from the heavy electronic door opening. Pei Wu didn't care about that; he just glanced at it casually. Then, he froze on the spot.
Lu Xiwen changed into a clean white shirt and black pants. The pants were a little faded, but that didn't stop him from being a clothes hanger. He looked to be in good spirits and waved vigorously when he saw Pei Wu.
The sound of the wind in Pei Wu's ears had stopped; he could only see Lu Xiwen and thought it was just a hallucination caused by being in the sun for too long.
“Xiao Wu.” Lu Xiwen stepped forward and hugged Pei Wu tightly.
The familiar, crisp scent emanated from the Alpha, who released pheromones filled with longing.
Pei Wu's tense nerves, which had been taut for the past few days, suddenly relaxed.
His vision was blindingly bright. He leaned against Lu Xiwen's chest, almost greedily savoring the other's presence. The intense body heat felt like it was melting him. Pei Wu held Lu Xiwen's waist and asked softly, "Did they agree to let us meet?"
“No, it’s that I can go home now,” Lu Xiwen said. “The assessment results are in, and it’s safe.” After saying that, Lu Xiwen paused, his tone a little proud, “I heard that my Omega is very tough and has even secretly threatened the association’s personnel.”
"No," Pei Wu said, "I..."
His voice suddenly disappeared, and his body sank heavily downwards.
When the fever subsided, Pei Wu was pale-faced and watched helplessly as Lu Xiwen was besieged. Just when the danger was over, he was brought here again, and the whole process showed no signs of abating.
Pei Wu has always been a thoughtful person, and these past few days he has been pushed to his limit. He has considered all possible bad consequences and prepared at least three options: who to contact and which path to take.
Nightmares plagued me every night; I always dreamt of ten-year-old Lu Xiwen alone at home, being harassed by that beast at eleven, and being tied to the bed when he differentiated at twelve.
Now Lu Xi heard that it was over and he could go home.
With the heavy weight lifted from his heart, Pei Wu could barely contain his weakened soul.
Lu Xiwen was already terrified. When he caught Pei Wu, his expression changed drastically. He immediately gave her a strong, safe pheromone, then turned sharply to the group of Alphas who didn't understand what was going on and demanded, "What did you do to him?"
It seems that once this is acknowledged, all security and rules will be rendered meaningless, and the top-tier barriers of the arena will immediately open here.
"No!!!" The Alpha who brought Pei Wu here was jumping up and down in a panic. "Routine questioning! We only gave him lukewarm water!"
Lu Xiwen's expression showed no sign of softening, clearly indicating disbelief.
"Xi Wen," Pei Wu's soft voice rang out, "Let's go back, I'm just too tired."
Lu Xiwen looked down at him.
Pei Wu half-closed her eyes, "Really."
Lan Zhe drove to pick him up. As soon as he got in the car, Lu Xiwen removed the gland patch from the person in his arms. When Pei Wu was weak, he always seemed very lifeless, which made Lu Xiwen feel uneasy. He gestured for Lan Zhe to raise the cover, and then leaned down and touched the gland.
The pheromones made Pei Wu shudder. He gripped Lu Xiwen's clothes so tightly that his knuckles turned white. After a while, the color returned to his face, and he slowly loosened his grip.
"Where's your hand?" Pei Wu said. "Let me see."
Lu Xiwen immediately took it to him. His healing ability was amazing, and the association had also used medicine, so now there was only a shallow scar left on his wrist.
Pei Wu was completely relieved.
Lu Xiwen waited for a while and found that Pei Wu had already fallen asleep.
Lu Xiwen knocked on the partition, and Lan Zhe looked in the rearview mirror. After their eyes met, Lan Zhe recounted what had happened in the past few days.
Pei Wu spent his own money to hire online trolls to argue with Lin Chen and Aila's people. When Kuang Junmeng and Cao Guan heard about Pei Wu's plan, it's no exaggeration to say that he had already thought of ways to get beaten to death by his family.
“He’s really afraid that what happened back then will happen again,” Cao Guan said on the phone. “He’s worried that you’ll be taken away for experiments again. If the Alpha Association building really blows up, don’t worry, I’ll drive to pick you up right away. Kuang Junmeng and Guan Yan have already spoken to the port authorities. Fortunately, Honghai is wide open. I’ll also give you my newly bought luxury speedboat. I wish you and Pei Zhu a pleasant life on the run.”
Lu Xi laughed at the end: "Get lost!"
