Chapter 92: He Didn't Die
A sudden downpour struck in the middle of the night, and a cool breeze seeped into the room through the cracks in the window. Pei Wu pulled her hand, which was outside the blanket, slightly inward, and the wind was stopped in the next second. Lu Xiwen's deep voice sounded in her ear, "It's alright now."
The sound of rain outside was particularly soothing and conducive to sleep.
But just before her consciousness faded, Pei Wu whispered, "Are we in Yunlu Bay?"
"Yes, I'm home," Lu Xiwen replied.
"What time is it?"
"It's past three in the morning, still early, go to sleep."
Pei Wu silently hummed in agreement, as the sound of the rain grew even more indistinct.
The waves on the Honghai Sea were surging, indicating that the rain would likely last for at least a week. Extending eastward from the port, it reached the point where it connected with Haicheng, where an abandoned fishing station stood. A few dozen meters away, a dilapidated watchtower swayed precariously in the darkness.
Somewhere below the observation deck, a heavy, suppressed breathing echoed, and a pair of desperate, extremely fierce eyes were illuminated for a moment by lightning.
Chu Lin wiped the water off his face roughly, one hand covering his waist, blood gushing from between his fingers, which was washed away by the rain in no time.
Chu Lin cursed inwardly. His backpack was knocked off during his escape. The boss of Aila Biotechnology was indeed not very bright. Meanwhile, Lu Xiwen's retaliation was coming in droves. Even someone who didn't follow the business world knew from the news reports that this guy's stock had been plummeting. Instead of hurrying to Hongdu to find Lu Xiwen and acknowledge him as his father, what was the point of sticking to him like this?
The hunt began the moment he returned to Haicheng.
Chu Lin had anticipated this outcome.
He broke the contract first, and cooperating with Wu Lian to suppress Lu Xiwen was the last chance Aila gave him.
It's a pity I never caught him, Chu Lin chuckled to himself.
He wasn't afraid of dying at all when he threw the medicine that day.
But things are different now; Chu Lin still wants to live a life of hiding.
However, even for a high-level cultivator, who hadn't rested for a quarter of an hour in ten consecutive days and was covered in various injuries, his condition was quite dire.
Chu Lin leaned against the dilapidated building that reeked of fish and dozed off for a while. Then he slowly opened his eyes. The cold rain falling from the night sky was endless, and the sound of waves crashing in the distance was constant. Chu Lin had a premonition that he couldn't leave.
Having lived a life of constant danger for so long, we almost forgot that there's a price to pay.
Chu Lin's consciousness was starting to wander, and he thought that it would be fine if he could just keep sleeping like this.
The next second, the rustling sound approached, and the confusion in Chu Lin's eyes suddenly cleared, replaced by a murderous intent. He abruptly turned his head to look to his left.
There were three people standing there.
He's truly a guide to the underworld, a restless spirit.
Ella made it clear that she would drag him down with her even if it meant death.
Alright, Chu Lin stood up, leaning against the cement wall. He skillfully took off his coat, tied it around his waist, and tightened the sleeves around the bleeding areas. The strong smell of gunpowder couldn't be masked even by the rain. Let's see how many he can take away.
The pheromone clash and the sound of a sharp blade slicing through flesh were exceptionally clear. Chu Lin had just grabbed someone by the neck and the strangulation hadn't even begun when something pierced his shoulder. He groaned in pain and missed his chance, getting kicked in the chest and then by the two men, flying more than ten meters away.
The pain that had been suppressed for several days suddenly erupted without any mercy. Every breath Chu Lin took was filled with the heavy smell of blood. The oxygen in his alveoli was squeezed out. As his vision blurred, Chu Lin felt his blood run cold.
The two men stumbled over, carrying knives.
Chu Lin twitched his fingertips, wanting to continue, but his body and mind were too exhausted.
Chu Lin struggled to turn over and looked up at the sky.
Like a black hole, it was the kind of weather he hated the most.
Chu Lin thought to himself that he would probably have to feed the fish in a while. He wondered if the fish that had the good fortune to eat a bite of his flesh would undergo a transformation. His mind was buzzing, and all the past events flashed by like a revolving lantern, but they were just fleeting moments and there was nothing worth remembering.
But when his gaze lingered on a certain face, the light in Chu Lin's eyes, which had almost died out, suddenly flared up again.
Chu Lin thought that his life would be very different after he differentiated, and on the surface it was indeed like that. But once he calmed down, Chu Lin realized that he was no different from when he was a child.
Their legs were covered in mud, and they lived a life that seemed endless and predictable, day after day.
He used his high-ranking status to operate in the gray area because it was a quick way to make money and he could vent his frustrations. But at the end of the day, his deep-seated inferiority complex and lack of self-confidence led him to adopt a carefree and dissolute persona.
Who would dare to mess with him after that?
You know what, it really exists.
Two assassins were already upon them, one of them raising a sharp knife.
Chu Lin felt that time was running out, and if he continued to be sentimental, he would really have nothing left. So he finally loosened the rope that had been tightly binding his heart, and a certain emotion immediately surged out like a vented balloon, gradually outlining a beautiful face.
Being "forced" by an Omega was probably the most humiliating thing for Chu Lin!
It's one of the few lucky things that happened.
This is truly goodbye. Chu Lin knew that his appearance and demise would have no impact on Guan Yan, who was an absolutely clear-headed Omega.
That's fine too.
The expected pain did not come. Chu Lin vaguely heard the sounds of fighting and noticed a change in the energy around him, but he was too weak to look.
Whatever.
Then a beautiful face came into view.
Chu Lin was stunned.
Guan Yan wore a black trench coat that reached past his knees. He was tall and slender, with slightly curly hair that framed his fair face. He was frowning and looking impatient. Someone was carefully holding an umbrella for him beside him, which made Guan Yan look particularly aloof and noble.
Guan Yan bent down to check Chu Lin's condition. "Not dead?"
Chu Lin's soul, which was about to drift out of his body, was suddenly pulled back. He even had the strength to say a complete sentence: "You came all the way to Haicheng just to see if I'm dead or not?"
"You talk too much nonsense." Guan Yan seemed relieved to see him like this, and then directed the people around him, "Take him away. The road here is difficult and muddy, and my clothes are all dirty."
Chu Lin was lifted up like a sack of potatoes. He even had the thought that it was terrible. This young master was so precious, how could he let his clothes get dirty?
As Chu Lin passed by one of the half-dead assassins, he waved goodbye to him.
"I'm sorry I didn't die."
"..."
Chu Lin was thrown into the car, and a wave of warmth washed over her. Before she could even greet Guan Yan, she fainted.
After Guan Yan sat down, he gently nudged Chu Lin with the tip of his shoe. Seeing that Chu Lin was almost entirely covered in injuries, a clear look of annoyance flashed in his eyes.
I thought he was so awesome. First, he forced Lu Xiwen to stop by car. Later, he teamed up with that sick Wu Lian to deal with Lu Xiwen. After being defeated, he jumped into the sea without hesitation. It seemed like he could go anywhere in the world. In reality, Guan Yan saw him running away with his head in his hands, with no way out at all.
"Back to Hongdu." Guan Yan lit a cigarette and then dialed Lu Xiwen's number.
The gist of it is to go all out with Aila Biotechnology.
