Chapter 94 Never Bit Back
After a brief standoff, Guan Yan spoke first: "Alright, aren't you hungry? Eat something."
Cao Guan sat back down and stared at Guan Yan: "No, what are you thinking?"
Guan Yan tilted his head slightly, and then saw Chu Lin put down the takeout and turn to leave.
"That was a good training session," Pei Wu thought to herself.
Cao Guan: "What evidence did you catch him of?"
Guan Yan laughed. "He's all alone. What could I possibly have to hold against him? If I had to say... maybe it's because I saved his life."
Lu Xiwen immediately understood.
"I heard that Ella and Lin Chen have been hunting him down, and you just brought him back like this?"
"What's there to be afraid of? Those two can barely take care of themselves, why would they care about these things?"
Cao Guan still didn't understand: "Why, brother? What kind of Alpha can't you have?"
Guan Yan leaned back on the sofa, her posture elegant. "You said it yourself, I can't have any of the kinds I want. Right now, I just want this one. It's high-grade, with really strong pheromones, and it's obedient."
Cao Guan remained silent for a moment.
After a moment, Cao Guan made a final struggle: "Are you sure he won't turn on you? Why is Chu Lin being hunted down? He takes the money but doesn't do the job, he's too capricious, you really dare to take on a time bomb!"
"Never mind," Guan Yan chuckled. "Let's eat."
Pei Wu's heart skipped a beat. Yes, why was Chu Lin being hunted down? Just because he was beaten up by Lu Xiwen, he withdrew halfway through, which was not in line with his character at all. But thinking about it more deeply, his thoughts suddenly opened up. Pei Wu had vaguely felt that something was wrong when Chu Lin dyed his hair black.
"Guan Yan," Pei Wu suddenly spoke up, "Do you dislike red hair?"
“I find it repulsive,” Guan Yan blurted out. “It looks stylish but is actually tacky and a hodgepodge.”
After speaking, Guan Yan's heart skipped a beat when he met Pei Wu's deep gaze.
When did this happen? Pei Wu thought to herself, if that's the case, then Chu Lin's subsequent collaboration with Wu Lian at the restaurant was indeed a sham, and Pei Wu had always suspected that Chu Lin deliberately broke that tube of high-concentration sealing agent.
It wasn't because he couldn't beat Lu Xiwen and was worried about retaliation, but rather...
Guan Yan.
Pei Wu's eyes cleared, and then she nodded understandingly to Guan Yan.
Guan Zong is indeed skilled at training dogs. Cao Guan is wrong. Chu Lin put the leash on himself, so he would never bite back.
Guan Yan: "..."
Pei Wu: "Let's eat, let's eat."
The crayfish were fresh and very flavorful, with firm meat. Pei Wu quickly peeled off a small shell, and Lu Xi, seeing that he liked it, helped him peel it.
Cao Guan had lost most of his enthusiasm and was typing furiously on his phone, complaining to Kuang Junmeng.
Guan Yan simply ignored the three annoying messages Kuang Junmeng sent on average every minute.
He's used to doing things his own way and doesn't want to explain too much.
Around 11 o'clock, the event was almost over.
Guan Yan paid the bill promptly and had just stepped out of the booth when Chu Lin, wearing a headset, strode up to him.
Black hair, black clothes, a rare deep and sharp temperament.
But the moment Chu Lin saw Lu Xiwen, he instantly lost his composure, and no matter how he tried to hide it, a hint of disgust was still evident.
Lu Xiwen squinted: "Want to get beaten up?"
Chu Lin turned his head away and remained silent.
Pei Wu led Lu Xiwen by the hand and said with a smile, "Let's go home."
Compared to Cao Guan's worries, the two of them, having had deeper contact with Chu Lin, were not so concerned. However, they knew that Chu Lin was not the kind of person to repay kindness with enmity. If he were even slightly smart, he would understand that following Guan Yan was the safest option at the moment.
Chu Lin is indeed on the right track.
Although it was his first time being a bodyguard, he learned quickly and his reaction speed was a unique talent of a high-level individual.
Guan Yan came down the steps, and Chu Lin immediately opened the door.
His features were perfectly handsome, but his good looks were mostly hidden by his strange aesthetic sense. Now, with Guan Yan's slight touch-ups, he looked exceptionally striking and eye-catching. Even with two bandages on his face, he exuded the sharp, bloodthirsty aura of a wounded beast.
The night wind carried the smell of gunpowder. Before getting into the car, Guan Yan raised an eyebrow and asked Chu Lin, "Why are you releasing pheromones?"
“A warning,” Chu Lin replied.
"Which idiot taught him that?" Guan Yan thought to himself, then said, "Don't release pheromones randomly in the future, like a peacock displaying its tail feathers."
In the past, Chu Lin would have slapped anyone who spoke like that, but now, listening to Guan Yan's reprimand, a strange light flashed in his eyes, and he finally nodded: "Okay, I'll remember."
Pei Wu felt that Guan Yan's interest might not be just a passing fancy, because he suddenly contacted him three days later and asked if he could be Chu Lin's teacher.
"Huh?" Pei Wu asked in surprise, "What should I study?"
"Adult college entrance examination." Guan Yan sighed, "Didn't Lu Xiwen give you a three-month leave? Anyway, you're just sitting around doing nothing. Come help me out. Chu Lin has already driven away five tutors."
Pei Wu smiled faintly: "I remember you have a high level of education."
"I'm so angry!" Guan Yan pounded his chest. "Pei Wu, I don't believe he's a high-level cultivator. I request to have another pheromone test done."
Pei Wu became somewhat interested upon hearing this.
Chu Lin was right beside Guan Yan when he said these words. He poured a glass of warm water for the Omega and waited for Guan Yan to hang up the phone before saying, "I'm already this old, why would I take the college entrance exam?"
"What, are you planning to be buried at twenty-four? Are you planning to be a bodyguard for life? Or a thug for life?" Guan Yan looked at him, his expression turning cold. "There are so many respectable jobs out there, why can't you get ahead? In today's society, what job doesn't require a basic education? Do you really think a high-ranking position is a magic bullet?"
Chu Lin didn't reply.
Guan Yan took a sip of water, but couldn't suppress his anger. He glared at Chu Lin and said, "I'm truly impressed by you. How can someone with this level of comprehension be at such a high level? It's clear that fate is unfair!"
Whatever, Chu Lin was unfazed and calmly refilled Guan Yan's cup. He thought to himself, what difference would it make if Pei Wu came? He was just not cut out for studying; a weakness is a weakness, and genes can't save him. But it would be good if he could infuriate Pei Wu. He could get back at Lu Xiwen indirectly.
The next day at noon, Pei Wu went to the Guan family building.
Guan Yan cleared out the adjacent lounge for them.
Pei Wu wore brown trousers with a cream-colored casual trench coat and gold-rimmed glasses with the glasses chain dangling slightly, making him look exceptionally handsome and refined. As he went upstairs, he attracted a lot of attention, and then people started discussing who he was.
No wonder Pei Zhu is a Beta among Betas; becoming an Omega would be a top-tier achievement for him too. In just one night, Pei Wu had already sorted out all the information about adult college entrance examinations on the webpage, and he knew the content of each subject like the back of his hand. Today, he took an all-purpose textbook, laid it out on the table, and clipped a black ruler between his fingers.
Chu Lin pointed at the ruler in disbelief: "What is this?"
Pei Wuyun said calmly, "If you can't learn it, you'll get beaten."
"Which teacher is like you?"
"It's because you're stubborn and inflexible."
Guan Yan breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this; it was Pei Zhu who was truly there.
