Chapter 10 Smooth Hair
The bedroom door was gently turned open, and a dark shadow rose slightly on the bed. Pei Wu showed no signs of waking up.
He was sleeping soundly, Lu Xi thought to himself.
When Lu Xiwen was tidying up the young butler, he inevitably released some pheromones. Even though the strong wind dispersed them in time, some still lingered.
Pei Wu suddenly moved.
Lu Xiwen thought he had been startled, but the young man shrank further into the blankets and mumbled something. Lu Xiwen's expression changed slightly, thinking he had misheard.
"It smells so good," Pei Wu exclaimed in her dream.
The air was crisp and cool, like a winter's wind blowing through a vast pine forest that braved the cold, then being warmed by the sun, mixed with the scent of melting snow, making it exceptionally refreshing.
That night, thunder and rain raged outside, only gradually stopping as dawn broke. Clear birdsong echoed from the valley, and the entire mountain villa was briefly bathed in the morning light.
Pei Wu slept exceptionally well.
Having slept well, Pei Wu was naturally in a good mood. When she opened the bedroom door, Lu Xiwen was frowning and typing on his phone. She wondered who was in trouble. While thinking about it, Pei Wu mumbled, "Good morning, Mr. Lu."
Lan Zhe fell silent instantly.
Half a minute later, Lu Xiwen hummed in response.
Lan Zhe seemed to understand but not quite what his boss was saying, and hung up after reporting his work.
Pei Wu washed his face, feeling much more refreshed. As soon as he came out of the bathroom, he made tea.
The sofa showed no signs of use, and even the cushions were in their original positions from last night. Pei Wu hesitated, "Mr. Lu, you didn't sleep all night, did you?"
"The commotion outside is almost like a war, so I really admire you."
Pei Wu: "..."
Whether Lu Xiwen slept or not made little difference; he remained energetic and arrogant, a natural work machine, which Pei Wu envied once again.
Shortly after, a waiter knocked on the door and said that the heavy rain last night had damaged the power system and that repairs were underway, but the estate had backup power, so they didn't need to worry and could go down for breakfast now.
The breakfast looked quite lavish, but Lu Xiwen took a bite of the shrimp dumpling, frowned slightly, then tasted the pork rib soup before putting down his spoon.
Fortunately, there was a wide variety of dishes, so we were always able to fill our stomachs.
Still no sign of Rong Hongzhi. This guy's mental fortitude is a bit lacking; he doesn't dare to face Lu Xiwen. Pei Wu doesn't know that last night was supposed to be a "midnight horror" but was scared away by his boss. He just thinks Rong Hongzhi is very impolite.
Not long after I went upstairs, the sunlight faded and it started raining again.
Fang Xiao was unable to arrive in time. By four o'clock in the afternoon, the villa's power system had not been repaired, and the backup power was showing signs of running out, with the light bulbs flickering.
"I must ask Fang Xiao who gave him the courage to bring in that idiot Rong Hongzhi." Lu Xiwen seemed eager to sever ties with Fang Xiao.
Pei Wu strongly agreed with this, saying that the problem lay in Rong Hongzhi's overall management.
Lu Xiwen was so disheartened by the breakfast that he didn't go down for lunch at all. Pei Wu saw him typing away on the computer with a cold face, so she grabbed an umbrella from the doorway and went to the kitchen at the back of the first floor.
With the natural gas still usable and enough ingredients, Pei Wu declined the chef's offer to help. He rolled up his sleeves, first chopped the cabbage, sprinkled it with salt to draw out the water, then deftly minced a plate of meat, added scallion and ginger water three times, stirred it until it became elastic, and then began to season it. After marinating for five minutes, he mixed the cabbage with it. Then Pei Wu tried the dough that the chef had brought over, but it was too soft, so he had to knead it again. Fortunately, it was only for two people, so it didn't take much effort.
While Pei Wu was waking up, she received a call from Lu Xiwen: "Where did you go?"
The sound of her voice still makes me unhappy.
"It's cold, let's have dumplings, with cabbage and pork filling."
Lu Xiwen paused for a moment: "Don't put onions in it."
"I knew you didn't like it, so I didn't put it in."
Lu Xiwen said, "The dumplings were just too dry."
Pei Wu glanced at the table. "Seaweed and egg soup?"
“Okay,” Lu Xiwen replied with a single word, his tone dignified.
After hanging up the phone, Pei Wu shook her head with amusement.
He raised his hand and touched the back of his neck. It was strange. In the past, when he took stabilizers, he would feel uncomfortable for about a week. Fever and loss of appetite were part of the process. The worst time was when Pei Wu was in a coma for four days. When he woke up, he was exhausted. But this time, apart from being sleepy, he didn't feel any discomfort. Thinking of this, a faint smell lingered in his nose, making him feel a little lightheaded.
After wrapping the dumplings, the water boiled briefly, and after a few minutes, the round dumplings floated to the surface. Pei Wu prepared the dipping sauce and made a pot of seaweed and egg drop soup. The chef brought over a rather rustic-looking food box, and Pei Wu quickly thanked him.
After Pei Wu left, the chef and his assistants huddled together.
"My goodness, being an assistant is tough these days; they need to be very well-rounded."
“Isn’t that right?” the chef replied. “His knife skills are so good, I’d like to keep him here.”
The sky grew even darker. Thirty kilometers away, Fang Xiao kicked aside the last person and greeted the head bodyguard: "Let's go."
As he got into the car, he looked at the report from the resort and gasped.
"What's wrong, sir? Did you forget to deal with the tail?" the head bodyguard asked, glancing back instinctively.
"I'd rather the tail wasn't dealt with." Fang Xiao put down his phone, closed his eyes, his expression somewhat blank, yet resolute. "I only considered Lu Xiwen's safety, not my own."
The Fang family has been in turmoil these past few days. News of his cooperation with Lu Xiwen has spread, and the third branch of the family is extremely impatient. Despite all the troubles, they can't do anything to him; they're just waiting for Lu Xiwen to lose patience. But what they don't know is that Fang Xiao and Lu Xiwen have known each other for a long time, and the project was decided two years ago, a done deal.
Rong Hongzhi became the third wife's dog, but a dog is a dog and can't keep up with human intelligence. They tried to catch Fang Xiao off guard, but Rong Hongzhi took advantage of Fang Xiao's busy schedule to go to the villa in his place. Originally, he posed no threat to Lu Xiwen.
But who would have thought that Rong Hongzhi would lure Omegas, threaten and monitor them in the middle of the night, and that he must have taken the roof tiles from the power supply room to build his own tomb in advance? Otherwise, how would you explain the power outage?
After a day and a night, the minefield that Lu Xiwen had heard about must have been blown up.
Fang Xiao wiped his face and seriously considered whether to wear a helmet or a rope. He would put the former on his head and the latter on Xi Wen's neck. He couldn't really let himself be sprayed to death, could he?
If all else fails, sacrifice Rong Hongzhi; he's not going to be a punching bag anyway.
It's not that Fang Xiao has a poor tolerance for stress. Just go out and ask around. Anyone who can talk to Lu Xiwen, who isn't afraid?
The rain continued unabated, but the room was warm. The power supply was unstable and the lights were dim, but after eating one hot dumpling after another, Lu Xiwen's complexion improved.
"My hand was shaking, and I sprinkled too much pepper. Will it cause a fumes?" Pei Wu asked.
Lu Xiwen: "Perfect."
Pei Wu only ate half of the dumplings on his plate before he was full.
"Are you a cat?" Lu Xi asked.
"You are the one," Pei Wu thought to herself, but explained aloud, "I'm not hungry."
No wonder he's so thin, Lu Xiwen thought to himself as he picked up the half plate. "Don't waste it."
Pei Wu smiled, her eyes narrowed: "Okay."
His face looked so gentle in the dim light that Lu Xiwen clicked his tongue inwardly.
