Chapter 9 Pei Wu, Come with Me

Chapter 9 Pei Wu, Come with Me

Rong Hongzhi didn't dare to show up for dinner.

Pei Wu heard from Lu Xiwen that he wanted to stay at the villa for one night.

Their rooms had been assigned, on the same floor, but a bit far apart, almost at opposite ends of a corridor.

Unlike the bright and spacious living room, this place seems out of touch with the decor, with a style that looks like it's been reverted to a decade ago. The wallpaper has a vintage feel, and the wall lamps are designed like candle flames, casting a gloomy and eerie glow over the entire corridor.

The guide was a young butler who followed behind Lu Xiwen with his head down, and no pheromones could be detected on him.

Pei Wu glanced at the location of her room, feeling inexplicably uneasy.

The butler was still reminding him, "You can go and rest now."

“I’m not going,” Lu Xiwen said in a deep voice. “Pei Wu, come with me.”

A look of surprise flashed across the young butler's eyes, "But..."

“This has nothing to do with you.” Lu Xiwen was impatient, thinking that Rong Hongzhi’s men were just as brain-dead as him.

Lu Xiwen was used to giving orders, and his cold voice was very intimidating. The butler clearly wanted to argue but didn't dare, so he quickly turned away.

Pei Wu naturally listened to what Lu Xi had said and followed him into the guest room. The room was spacious, a suite, and the bedroom was quite clean.

Without Lu Xiwen giving any instructions, Pei Wu checked the place inside and out twice.

"No problem, Mr. Lu."

"Um."

As soon as he finished speaking, a bright flash of lightning ripped through the dark sky, illuminating the room slightly. This was followed by a deafening rumble of thunder. Perhaps because they were in an open area, the thunder sounded as if it were not far away, and it was quite awe-inspiring. By the time Pei Wu finished making the tea and came out, raindrops were already streaming down the window.

The current situation is actually quite dangerous. Pei Wu didn't know that Fang Xiao had sent a message, but she didn't understand why Lu Xiwen didn't leave.

However, when the person in question sat two meters away on a chair with their legs crossed, drinking tea and looking at their phone, Pei Wu gradually calmed down.

Lu Xiwen is sharp-tongued, picky, and quick to anger, but you have to admit that living under the same roof with him gives you a great sense of security.

Pei Wu called the waiter using the number on the landline, and soon the waiter brought what he wanted. Lu Xiwen was engrossed in his laptop on his lap when he heard a rustling sound coming from the kitchen. Soon after, a delicious aroma wafted out.

Lu Xi looked up.

Yes, Lu Xiwen only ate two bites of the dinner that Rong Hongzhi had carefully prepared, and rolled her eyes because of the parsley flakes floating on top of a pumpkin cream soup.

What are you doing?

"Sour soup noodles." Pei Wu, wearing heat-resistant gloves, brought out the noodles and placed them on the table. "Come and eat, there's a fried egg."

Lu Xiwen put down his laptop: "How can one fried egg be enough?"

"So I fried two."

"snort."

Lu Xiwen dislikes being speculated about or predicted, but Pei Wu is an exception; Pei Wu has a keen eye for detail.

Lu Xiwen sipped his noodles, while Pei Wu sat opposite him reviewing documents. His gray cashmere sweater reached just to his collarbone, making his neck appear excessively white. Pei Wu was slightly nearsighted, and the text on the computer was small, so he casually took out his gold-rimmed glasses and put them on. Because he was sitting high, he had to bend forward while typing. Without his coat to cover it, his slender waist was revealed through the folds of the fabric.

Someone took it all in and then said, "Hmph."

Pei Wu: "?"

Lu Xiwen didn't intend to explain; after finishing his meal, he went to take a shower.

After getting dressed, Pei Wu propped her head up with one hand and fell asleep against the sofa armrest.

Lu Xiwen frowned and stepped forward, touching Pei Wu's forehead with the back of his hand to check her temperature.

Pei Wu woke up quickly.

"Mr. Lu?"

"You have a low-grade fever." Lu Xi asked, "Why didn't you say so?"

Aside from drowsiness, the side effects after the stabilizer injection weren't too bad. Pei Wu explained, "I've taken the medicine; I'll feel better after a nap."

"Then go to sleep," Lu Xiwen replied.

Pei Wu stood up, a little embarrassed: "I'll sleep after I'm done with my work, Mr. Lu."

"You can sleep as you please, it won't affect anything."

Pei Wu thought to herself, "Me sleeping across from you? Shouldn't we use this sofa?"

Mr. Lu understood something from his expression and showed a hint of unbearable disapproval. "Who told you to sleep on the sofa? Go to the bedroom."

Pei Wu: "...But there's only one bed in the bedroom."

"You sleep in the bedroom, I'll sleep here."

Pei Wu was startled: "President Lu, this..."

"I don't have the habit of exploiting sick employees, so speed things up."

It was clear that Lu Xiwen was about to spew poison if he said another word, so Pei Wu stopped worrying. After washing up, she went straight to her bedroom. She had finished most of her work, while top-tier Alphas never had a moment to rest. If she really tried to outlast Lu Xiwen in terms of energy, she was no match for him.

Pei Wu left the bedroom door ajar so that he could jump up immediately after Lu Xiwen gave the order.

Even Lan Zhe, one of Lu Xiwen's former subordinates who traveled with him on business trips, was not a heavy sleeper, let alone someone as cautious as Pei Wu. But in fact, after lying down for only a few minutes, Pei Wu's eyelids started to droop, and the feeling of his consciousness falling into the abyss was completely out of his control.

Hearing the even breathing sounds, Lu Xiwen continued with his work.

The rain intensified, making the banana leaves crackle and pop. Just as Lu Xiwen typed a line of text, the power suddenly went out in the room, and lightning and thunder illuminated half a dark shadow outside the window.

Anyone who witnessed this scene would be so terrified they would fall silent instantly.

Lu Xiwen suddenly stood up.

Even though the room was pitch black, it didn't affect his superior eyesight, which was almost comparable to that of a wild beast. He walked around the tables and chairs, closed the bedroom door first, and then walked step by step toward the window.

The windows were wide open, and a cold wind rushed in, scattering papers on the table. Lu Xiwen's face was stern as he glanced at the empty balcony, then swiftly raised his hand, precisely grabbed a person by the collar, and pulled them down hard. The person who thought he had disguised himself well was immediately thrown into the air by Lu Xiwen.

The speed was so fast that the other party didn't have time to react. The hat was blown off, revealing the young butler's face.

"Rong Hongzhi sent you to spy on me?"

The young butler's face turned ashen. This was the fifth floor. Worried that Lu Xiwen would let go, he tried to grab the man's wrist, but being stared at by the man's dark and deep eyes, he felt a sense of dread, as if he were being stared at by a beast. For a moment, his body stiffened, and he dared not do anything.

“This is a one-time thing,” Lu Xi said. “You bunch of idiots better not embarrass yourselves.”

After saying that, he casually tossed it aside. The young butler stared in horror, his eyes widening. The sudden feeling of weightlessness made life seem very light. Just as his heart was about to leap into his throat, his body crashed to the ground.

Lu Xiwen threw him onto the terrace on the next floor.

We're not responsible for any bumps or bruises, but you definitely won't die.

Lu Xiwen closed the window and had just sat down on the sofa when the power came back on.

It's like a tacit sign of weakness.

"Useless," Lu Xi scoffed.

If Lan Zhe were here, he would definitely rush up to Rong Hongzhi, toast him, and exclaim, "Brave!"

While other CEOs are surrounded by entourages when they go out, Lu Xiwen at most brings two people. Do you think he simply prefers quiet? His "top-tier" status is the greatest guarantee. His powerful pheromones and extremely keen perception give him an invisible, impenetrable wall.
