Chapter 29 Pei Wu cooks fish very well, did you know that?
The group of people who had started eating paused at the same time, and then cast heartbroken glances at Lu Xiwen.
Mr. Lu, you're destined to be single forever. Why would you criticize such a beautiful Omega?
Lu Xi ignored him and ate the fried pastry that Pei Wu had put in his bowl.
It's a mixture of pea flour and daylily buds, with a rather complicated seasoning. The Sichuan peppercorns add a touch of spiciness, and it's barely passable. It's not as good as a plate of sweet and sour fish.
Ruan Hanyan, who had been silenced by Lu Xiwen's words, was even more out of sorts, as if he had suffered a great blow. His face was pale and pitiful. But at one moment, Lu Xiwen noticed that the other person had glanced at the crispy fried dough in his bowl.
Um?
Lu Xiwen paid a little attention. No matter how well Ruan Hanyan disguised himself, he was as transparent as a transparent person in front of him. The other party seemed to be very jealous of Pei Wu’s good life. The subtle hostility was particularly deep. He said that Pei Wu was amazing just now, but the topic was obviously leading the conversation. Once Lu Xiwen started talking to him, he would probably talk about other aspects that were not good for Pei Wu.
Lu Xiwen was quite interested in Pei Wu's life during her university years, but coming from someone as biased as Ruan Hanyan, it was better not to listen.
As for Su Chen, it's confirmed that he was the one who violated the pheromone barrier that day and was disliked by Pei Wu.
As for why it was judged as aversion? Lu Xiwen felt that his assistant Pei had already shown it very clearly.
Wan Guirong chatted with Lu Xiwen again. It was clear that Su Chen, the son of a shareholder, wanted to participate, whether for the sake of Xiong Jing or to enhance his presence. However, he had been enjoying life for the past six months and had forgotten half of his professional knowledge. The other half disappeared after Lu Xiwen improved the depth and content of the conversation.
Pei Wu felt her inner turmoil dissipate, and her whole body felt refreshed.
"Drive downstairs, let's go back," Lu Xiwen instructed Pei Wu, as he still had a little something left to say to Wan Guirong.
"Yes, Mr. Lu." Pei Wu put away her notebook.
Two minutes after Pei Wu left, Wan Guirong was called away by a phone call. Lu Xiwen sat there, listening to the undisguised conversation coming from the next table.
Ignoring any deliberate intent, Lu Xi heard Pei Wu's name.
Su Chen's gang of buddies gathered together again, barking incessantly. Some started the conversation, others played along, all revolving around Su Chen. They talked a lot of nonsense, and Lu Xiwen only caught one key point—Pei Wu had liked Su Chen.
Mr. Lu gave a soft hum, and the next table instantly fell silent.
To put it simply, any unknown approach, not limited to the company employees' heated discussions or the frequent glances from passersby, including that day at the mall when the little girl chased after Pei Wu for her contact information, would annoy Lu Xiwen. He is unreasonable, so he doesn't like too many people surrounding Pei Wu, but Su Chen is destined to be an exception.
No one understood Pei Wu's tolerance better than Lu Xiwen. Even someone as picky as himself could say something like "President Lu is very good," which sounded like a madman. He could easily become a Buddha statue. But to anger the "Buddha" and make Pei Wu show that disgusted expression, had Su Chen jumped into a cesspool? Lu Xiwen thought to himself.
Even thinking about everything Pei Wu had done for him, the contrast was stark. Lu Zong became smug and arrogant, feeling like, "You're nothing, yet you dare to say that Pei Wu likes you—you're such a pig!"
The unknown represents a challenge, but what is known is simply useless.
Lu Xiwen turned his head and finally gave Su Chen a proper look.
The high-ranking Alpha, who was the center of attention, was nothing to Lu Zong. He was just a greenhorn who only knew how to show off. Finally, Lu Xiwen delivered the fatal blow, "Pei Wu cooks fish very well, you know that?"
Su Chen's forced composure vanished. He didn't even know if Pei Wu could cook fish, let alone eat it. Admittedly, Su Chen didn't know what was so great about that rotten fish, but he was already quite angry at Lu Xiwen's slightly raised eyebrow.
This was not just a loss in a match, but an indescribable, overwhelming victory. If it were any other Alpha, Su Chen would have a million ways to make the opponent bow down, but with Lu Xiwen, he had a million ways to break Su Chen's defenses.
Then Lu Xiwen noticed that Su Chen, who was in a state of distress, was missing someone. Where was Ruan Hanyan?
Lu Xiwen strode away.
In the garage, Pei Wu placed the passenger blanket in the back seat. The motion-activated lights overhead weren't working very well; they would turn off as soon as it got quiet.
After closing the back door, Pei Wu suddenly paused for a moment, realizing someone was behind him. He turned around, and the other person was just a dark silhouette. It was as if, in a place where no one could see him or where the light was dim, that kind of cleverly hidden damp and fishy stench would emerge.
Then, purposefully, it spread from under its own feet to under Pei Wu's feet.
Pei Wu took a step back.
The noise triggered the motion sensor, and Ruan Hanyan, standing five steps away, revealed a big smile.
His lips looked as if they were being forcefully pulled up, his lips were bright red, and his eyes were smiling in a crescent shape, which was extremely eerie.
Pei Wu, unable to bear it any longer, finally asked, "Have you been to the hospital?"
Although there can be unprovoked evil between people, Ruan Hanyan's actions were utterly shameless. This opened the most basic valve of human nature, to the point that Pei Wu doubted herself several times, wondering if she had really done something unforgivable, but she forgot.
“It hurts me to hear you say that, junior,” Ruan Hanyan said gently. “Three years have passed, and you still don’t give me a kind look.”
"Should I give you a nice look?" Pei Wu retorted.
Ruan Hanyan shrugged. "I know I went too far in many things back then. I've matured, Pei Wu, and I want to make amends."
Pei Wu: "You should make it up to your mother."
"..."
Pei Wu would never forgive any act of bullying.
"Junior, don't be like that." Ruan Hanyan said in a coquettish tone as she walked towards Pei Wu.
"Su Chen isn't with you," Pei Wu reminded her. "Guess if I could break your legs?"
Ruan Hanyan stopped and tilted his head, as if pondering the truth of those words.
Pei Wu felt a little disgusted by the ingratiating look on his face.
"Why are you driving so slowly?" Lu Xiwen stepped out of the shadows.
Pei Wu was taken aback: "President Lu?"
"Let's go," Lu Xi said, and was about to pass by Ruan Hanyan.
Pei Wu watched as the smile on Ruan Hanyan's face vanished instantly, replaced by a look of grievance and sorrow. He looked up at Lu Xiwen, then seemed to lose his balance and slumped to the side. A rich floral scent of pheromones poured out, and even Pei Wu could smell a cloying, heavy aroma.
The pheromones of a high-quality Omega can instantly turn any Alpha's eyes bloodshot and drive them mad.
Lu Xiwen grasped Ruan Hanyan's arm.
When Ruan Hanyan lowered his head, a smile curled at the corner of his mouth, and I knew it...
"The smell of photinia flowers mixed with rotten bananas, have you been to the hospital?"
Ruan Hanyan: "..."
"???"
Ruan Hanyan suddenly looked up, her usual gentle demeanor instantly revealing a hint of gritted teeth, "It's cloves mixed with sweet orange!"
"Normally, pheromones don't have a floral and fruity scent. Have you modified them?"
Saying someone has had their chin augmented with Omeg is like telling a stunningly beautiful woman or man, "Have you had your chin filled?" It's extremely damaging.
Pei Wu blinked, and Lu Xiwen's mouth became even more toxic.
Ruan Hanyan's face showed fragility, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth, "No, it's natural."
Lu Xiwen shook him off, "Hmph."
Ruan Hanyan almost yelled, "What are you humming about?"
Lu Xiwen gently pushed Pei Wu's lower back to get him into the passenger seat, then stepped on the gas and roared away in front of Ruan Hanyan, the exhaust kicking up a cloud of dust that inevitably covered him from head to toe.
You can't do that without some driving skills.
